424. New Citizens at Cavalli Island…

Roberto Cavalli424. New Citizens at Cavalli Island…

I love and I have always loved animals and, as a boy, had never been allowed to have a dog.   The first thing I did when I went to live on my own was to have one, all mine.

I found my first dog through an advertisement.  I went to see him and we fell in love at first sight.  In fact it was a German Shepherd dog and  I named him “Lupo”.  Later I had many other dogs of various breeds, but my first Lupo has always been my favourite.  We understood each other, it seemed he smiled at me.  We were inseparable.  We lived in symbiosis.

Since then I have had so many other animals, of all kinds…

My passion for horses which I passed on to my son Tommaso led me into a world completely unknown to me including the breeding of racehorses.  I learned all about these wonderful animals and it is on horseback that I discovered the undulating Chianti hills.

How many adventures I have shared with my pets, how many times I have suffered with them… Lupo has always been on my side… he has surpassed even his natural fear of flying to travel with me on my helicopter…

One look is enough for us to understand each other… even when I was choosing the models for my fashion shows.

Cavalli Island is giving me the joy of living in close contact with many animals and letting me give them a little piece of heaven…

Lupo now enjoys exploring this new territory, his acute sense of smell is responding to the stimuli of new scents, new tracks to follow…

Since the birth of the new foal, Cavalli Island is being populated with many new animals and the registry office is very busy recording all these new citizens…

Spring is showing us her magic and putting on a fantastic show… which has been repeated every year for millions of years…

420. Cavalli Island, my Homage to Nature…

Roberto Cavalli420. Cavalli Island, my Homage to Nature…

We are anxiously waiting for Queen, our mare, to give birth to her new foal.  What a joy that will be for all of us.

A new and welcome member of the family and our first citizen to be born and raised on Cavalli Island!

Nature once again manages to enchant me and to give me the joy of living on this wonderful planet…!

The joy of a new life… the ability to create life… often we do not realize how much magic is contained in each new birth…

The gestation of a mare lasts about eleven months.  The colt has the ability to stand up and run shortly after it is born.   Its very survival in the wild depends on it.  A horse is an adult at the age of five years.

I’ve always loved horses and recently toured the island on horseback.   We have our own stable in which our animals are well looked after.

Nature continues to inspire me… my art, my clothes. Subtly changing seasonal colours have provided the palettes nuanced by an early Spring, a nip of frost or a lingering Indian Summer carrying us into a early Winter storm.  My memories and photos allow me to recreate back in my studio what I have experienced in the field.  This is the way so many of the ancients painted.   I have learned from them and it has served me well.

With Cavalli Island I wanted to return Nature’s favour and create an oasis, a little paradise on earth, where Nature can indulge itself without threat and show us what it can do when left to its own devices.

My vision is an island populated with animals of all kinds, birds that stay with us year round as well as those that pass by fleetingly on their migrations.  Trees, plants and flowers each with the colours and scents that bring to mind our travels around the world…

In this part of the hemisphere Spring is coming and this is the most beautiful time of year… a unique spectacle, perfection honed over millions of years…

We must rediscover our natural instinct to observe now dormant from living a digital life.  We have to go out and rediscover the pleasure of a walk: the sights, sounds and scents… the perfection of creation.

It is a gift that often, too often, we neglect…

410. Thank You, Thank You!  From the  bottom of my Heart… I Love You!

Roberto Cavalli410. Thank You, Thank You!  From the  bottom of my Heart… I Love You!

I know, I agree with you… a handwritten note, in beautiful calligraphy as once taught in school would be better… but times have changed… Today Tempus Fugit, everything just flies… it all happens in a moment…  The Internet has profoundly changed the way we interact, we play, we learn, we stay informed.  The important thing is to know how to adapt quickly to the changes, how to be able to follow evolution, as we learn from nature that is continually evolving, adapting to a changing dynamic…

I wish to respond to all the kind birthday wishes that I received electronically… text messages, emails, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram… and reply by the same means adapting myself to the changing times.

I would like to answer each message individually but that is not possible given my schedule… you are really so many… but I was very pleased to read your words of love and feel you so close to me… Thank You, Thank You from the bottom of my heart!

Excess is my success… this has always been my motto and this year my birthday was celebrated with a surprise party that I did not expect… it was an excess of affection, love, kind hearts and red roses…

A birthday surrounded by my big family… children, grandchildren, relatives and friends… all around me! For one day I felt myself to be someone truly blessed!

Birthdays remind us of the date of our birth, but we also take account of the years that have passed and we make plans for the future.  Those who have already read my book know that my life has been a fantastic adventure… a life full of surprises where I learned that love is the center of our lives around which everything revolves… but what fascinates me the most is the future… a future full of potential, full of projects… and you know me well enough to know that I cannot sit still…!

Un forte abbraccio!

I LOVE YOU
