CLASS Roberto Cavalli Spring/Summer 2013 Men’s Collection

Paris-Dakar is the inspiration behind the CLASS Roberto Cavalli Spring/Summer 2013 Men’s Collection.

The CLASS Roberto Cavalli man travels down, as a leading spectator, a reckless path which he observes in an intellectual and ironic manner, painting on a canvas the colours and magic of the countries he crosses.

As a romantic dreamer, the CLASS Roberto Cavalli man loses himself in the magic of the places and recreates its atmospheres, adopting a look reminiscent of the first car races of the 1920s when the first stop was in Luberon, Provence.

The protagonist of this famous journey loves wearing white cotton gauze shirts printed with inspirational ‘toiles de jour’ motifs in blue and pink, always combined with white or cobalt blue.

The air is fresh and crisp, typical of an early summer morning, perfect for a relaxing dandy look: the pants are soft in satin cotton and linen, to be worn with deconstructed jackets in double cotton or micro patterns; the relaxed fit shirts alternate between cotton and silk.

The prints represent the magical seas and patterns of Provence.

The atmosphere becomes stronger and more eccentric when our man arrives in the magical land of Granada, where he cannot resist the charm of dancing at night, adopting an elegant, but original style: the jacket is fitted with ‘pied de poule’ patterns, worn with bow ties and fancy shirts, slim-fitting trousers and patent leather shoes.

The colours are strong: blue, red, emerald green and the prints recapture the geometric patterns of Spanish cathedrals, both the jackets and pants alternate between jacquard fabrics and embroidered motifs to create a sophisticated and ironic look playing on geometries and a mix of stripes.

Finally, in anticipation of the arrival of the famous rally, the CLASS Roberto Cavalli man at Dakar loses himself in the infinite mystery of the desert: the shirts are printed in the colours of sand, tobacco and natural white. The jacquard jerseys resemble typical African carpets; the suits are made of natural fibres, with lively grisaille in raffia and linen/cotton.

The vintage inspired ‘aristo-dandy’ look is enhanced in the typical suede jacket and the evergreen safari jacket, reinvented and made of suede or crinkled nylon: the style is still sophisticated but relaxed for a man who loves being eccentric but who also yearns for classic tailoring glamour.
