My fashion was becoming more and more singular and distinctive.
With the help of a talented young designer my fashion began to be known as the fashion choice for the Red Carpet.

With my ability to create fantasies like paintings and his techniques in shaping the dresses we conquered the showbiz world. Actresses and singers vied for the most glamorous and sexy dresses, simple shapes, long dresses, colourful prints photographed onto their flowing fabrics.

I often created two dresses for Jennifer Lopez for the same evening. One was long, eye-catching, sexy, very glamorous for the Red Carpet. The other was short, very short, shiny, tight yet allowing her to move freely and dance during the concerts.

Flash… flash… a life of flashes… Camera flashes? Yes, even those, but above all many flashes in my mind, so many, perhaps too many to remember. Emotions driven by a range of events – from small ones to very big ones. It was a very particular time in my life where the events and the emotions happened at such a fast pace that it was impossible for me to fully savour the pleasure!

I remember a big charity event in Beverly Hills with more than a hundred tables set with silk tablecloths printed with my animal prints. They created such a fashionable, fun, positive atmosphere, a very Cavalli-style mood. The evening ended with a fashion show. The model of honour was Halle Berry! A woman of unforgettable sweetness. She was wonderful! When you encounter a person who has your own vulnerability and simplicity, you feel as though you have always been friends!

We walked together for the runway finale in front of more than a thousand guests. Everybody was dressed to perfection for such an important event. The most important people were there and they stood to show their admiration and appreciation.

Halle Berry held my hand tightly and If I relaxed my hand she held it even more tightly as if she were saying: “Do not leave me now!”.
How I wish my words could fully express all the emotions that in that moment filled my heart!

Those are the kind of emotions that we carry inside us forever…

La mia moda stava diventando sempre più̀ particolare e diversa. Con l’aiuto di un bravo giovane stilista cominciai a far parlare di me come il designer dei Red Carpet.

La mia capacità di creare fantasie come quadri e la sua tecnica nel modellare gli abiti conquistò il mondo del cinema e della musica. Attrici e cantanti si contendevano gli abiti più̀ glamour e sexy, modelli semplici, lunghi, con coloratissime stampe fotografiche.

Per Jennifer Lopez creavo spesso due abiti per una stessa serata, uno lungo, speciale, sexy, appariscente per il Red Carpet e un altro corto, molto corto, brillante, attillato, per lasciarla libera di muoversi durante i concerti.

Flash… Flash… Una vita di flash. Flash dei fotografi? Sì, anche quelli, ma soprattutto tanti flash nella mia mente, davvero tanti, forse troppi da ricordare. Emozioni procurate da una gamma di avvenimenti – da piccoli a grandissimi – che in quel momento speciale della mia vita si alternavano troppo velocemente perché́ potessi assaporarne completamente il piacere!

Ricordo una grande serata di beneficenza a Beverly Hills con più̀ di cento tavoli apparecchiati con tovaglie in seta stampata con le mie fantasie animalier che creavano un’atmosfera fashion, divertente, positiva, molto stile Cavalli. La serata sarebbe finita con una mia sfilata. La modella d’eccezione era Halle Berry! Una donna d’una dolcezza indimenticabile, meravigliosa. Quando in una persona incontri la tua stessa timidezza e semplicità̀, ti senti amico da sempre!

Facemmo insieme la lunga passerella finale: più̀ di mille invitati, elegantissimi e importantissimi si alzarono in piedi per attestare la loro ammirazione. Halle Berry mi stringeva forte la mano e se accennavo a staccarmi, me la stringeva più̀ forte, come se mi volesse dire: “Non mi lasciare sola!”.

Come vorrei che queste mie parole riuscissero a esprimere completamente tutta l’emozione che in quel momento mi attanagliava il cuore!

Sono quelle emozioni che ci portiamo dentro per sempre…

Contentment is a state of mind that finds us at peace with ourselves, happy to be who we are and with what we have, raising our families in harmony with those around us, making the most of our surroundings.

I made “Excess is my Success” my motto. My research in the fashion world “inspired” me. It literally breathed new life into me. For each collection I had to get better, newer ideas, colours and technologies which I would then apply to fabrics and leather.

Just as athletes compete with themselves by raising the bar for every race for every jump… It is normal, the quest for perfection is part of our nature. Improving our performance, creating more beautiful, interesting, colourful collections, getting out of the classical schemes, creating new trends…

However, by now you should know me, you know that I am, at heart, a simple person. I find myself at ease in any situation. Whenever I think of my great adventure I remember my Mom, her teachings, her way of doing things, her composure. Her manner was simple and gentle. I learned contentedness from my Mother who was able to rescue it from the most difficult of her life’s events. Her sweet smile is always in my mind, as well as her way of being, she was always so kind.

What I learned traveling around the world is that simple people, those who have kindness in their eyes and hearts, those who appreciate every little joy, are the ones who have found the secret of contentment. That does not mean setting your bar low but it means being able to enjoy every day what life gives us, knowing how to look around us, appreciate who we are and be thankful for what we have.

What we own cannot give us contentment. That is a sentiment that comes from the depth of our heart. It is too easy to let it be overshadowed by life that sometimes seems to run too quickly ahead of us.

I have seen children playing with a ball made of rags and have read the happiness in their eyes, I have seen playing, smiling, laughing, carefree children enjoying each moment with their friends.

Do not let a frenzied life take away your contentment.

Contentezza è quel sentimento che ci permette di vivere in pace con noi stessi, felici di essere chi siamo e di quello che abbiamo, crescere le nostre famiglie in armonia con le persone e con l’ambiente che ci circondano.

Ho fatto di “Eccesso è il mio successo” il mio motto. La mia continua ricerca nel mondo della moda è sempre stata la mia grande fonte di ispirazione. Una continua infusione di vitalità. Ogni collezione deve essere migliore della precedente, nuove idee, colori e tecnologie applicate ai tessuti e ai pellami.

Così come gli atleti competono contro se stessi spostando la barra un po’ più in alto ad ogni allenamento. È normale, ricercare la perfezione fa parte della nostra natura. Migliorare le nostre prestazioni, creare collezioni sempre più belle, interessanti, colorate, uscire dagli schemi classici, creare nuove tendenze…

Ormai mi conoscete, avete capito che in fondo sono una persona semplice. Mi trovo a mio agio in ogni situazione. Ogni volta che penso alla mia vita, la mia grande avventura, mi torna in mente la mia mamma, i suoi insegnamenti, il suo modo di fare, la sua compostezza. I suoi modi erano semplici e gentili. Ho imparato la contentezza dalla mia mamma, lei era in grado di risolvere ogni difficile situazione la vita le prospettava, anche le più difficili. Il suo dolce sorriso è sempre impresso nella mia mente, così come il suo modo di porsi, sempre così gentile.

Quello che ho imparato girando il mondo è che le persone semplici, quelle che hanno la gentilezza nel loro sguardo, quelle che sanno apprezzare ogni piccola gioia hanno di fatto trovato il segreto della contentezza. Non vuol dire sapersi accontentare ma significa saper godere ogni giorno quello che la vita ci dona, sapersi guardare intorno, apprezzare chi siamo ed essere grati per quello che abbiamo.

Quello che possediamo non riesce a darci la felicità. La contentezza parte dal profondo del nostro cuore. Spesso è offuscata dalla vita che ci scorre davanti troppo veloce.

Ho visto bambini giocare con una palla fatta di stracci e ho letto la contentezza nei loro occhi, li ho visti felici, spensierati, grati di passare il tempo con i loro amici.

Non lasciate che una vita frenetica vi allontani dalla contentezza.

I have met the most beautiful women in the world, participated as a judge in the Miss Universe contest, travelled a known and unknown world. I have visited capitals and remote kingdoms meeting their Kings and Queens, their Princes and Presidents. In particular I have enjoyed meeting people from every walk of life.

Traveling is one of the very few ways you can spend your time and money with the hope of returning a wiser and better person.

I am an explorer. I like adventure. Every journey begins with a destination, like an horizon that gives way to new horizons. I always feel a need to push beyond whatever I can see ahead. What lies beyond this new horizon, this thin line that separates the known from the unknown?

Discover another civilization, another culture with its rituals, mores, all expressed subtly in its traditional dresses.

Let us travel and discover our world, increase our knowledge, learn, broaden our horizons and get a more complete view of our planet and those who share it with us.

No matter how you travel, with whom you share the journey or your destination, what matters is the journey and the experience you will get from it.

I have taken hundreds of thousands of photos and when I look at those images my memory takes me back in time, à la recherche du temps perdu, for the sounds, the smells and the emotions that magically resurface.

There is no “right time” to take a trip, to leave, to start a new adventure, every moment is the “right time”. Sometimes we are off to discover the world and sometimes we are off to discover ourselves, to look into our world and open the door to let the inside out and the outside in.

If you find yourself in a locked cage check that it isn’t locked from the inside.

Life is a great adventure. Travel allows us to make the most of it. How many things in my life would have been different had I not opened that door, had I not travelled, had I not known people who have shared their knowledge with me, who have given me their hand in friendship and shared part of the journey.

Time to stop reading and start packing.

[:it]444. Il segreto della felicità si trova nella ricerca di ciò che si rivela essere una destinazione sconosciuta…

Ho conosciuto le donne più belle del mondo, sono stato giudice a Miss Universo, ho viaggiato verso destinazioni sconosciute. Ho visitato capitali e regni remoti, incontrato Re e Regine, Principi e Presidenti. Ho conosciuto persone di ogni estrazione sociale.

Viaggiare ci permette di diventare una persona migliore, più saggia.

Sono un esploratore. Mi piace l’avventura. Ogni mio viaggio inizia con una destinazione, un orizzonte che poi si apre a nuovi orizzonti. Sento sempre la necessità di spingermi oltre. Cosa c’è oltre l’orizzonte, quella sottile linea che ci separa dall’ignoto?

Scoprire un’altra civiltà, un’altra cultura con i suoi rituali, con le sue tradizioni che si rivelano anche attraverso i loro abiti caratteristici.

Viaggiare e scoprire questo nostro mondo accresce la nostra conoscenza, allarga i nostri orizzonti e ci regala una visione completa del nostro pianeta e di coloro con cui lo condividiamo.

Non importa come viaggiate, con chi condividete il viaggio o la vostra destinazione, quello che conta è il viaggio e l’esperienza che ne trarrete.

Ho scattato centinaia di migliaia di foto e quando guardo quelle immagini la mia memoria mi riporta indietro nel tempo, i suoni e i profumi di quell’istante magicamente riaffiorano.

Non esiste il “momento giusto” per fare un viaggio, per partire, per iniziare una nuova avventura, ogni momento è “quello giusto”. A volte si parte per scoprire il mondo e a volte si parte per scoprire noi stessi, per guardare dentro al nostro mondo e aprire quella porta che ci mette in contatto con il mondo esterno.

Se vi sentite costretti all’interno di una gabbia verificate che non sia chiusa dall’interno.

La vita è una grande avventura e viaggiare la completa. Quante cose nella mia vita sarebbero state diverse se non avessi aperto quella porta, se non avessi viaggiato, se non avessi conosciuto persone che hanno condiviso il loro sapere, che mi hanno dato la loro amicizia e con cui abbiamo condiviso una parte del viaggio.
