232. Thank you… I’m moved…
It doesn’t happen often, but at the presentation of my autobiography I was very moved…
The conference room inside the Mondadori bookshop overlooks Piazza Duomo, offering a unique view of the famous spires of Milan’s Cathedral… a few mannequins in my creations are the frame of the presentation to the press of ” JUST ME! ”
Journalists, photographers and bloggers are all in front of us. Matteo Renzi, the mayor of my Florence, is at my side introducing my autobiography… My five children are all there in front of me… Cristiana, Tommaso, Rachele, Daniele and Robert… what a joy…! what a thrill…! I live for them… and I want to dedicate my life story to them! I know that my greatest adventure has often kept us apart… but they have understood and today they are showing me so… !
This press conference was different from all the others… this time my life was the main subject and my fashion was a beautiful frame… those fragments of life that have captured the attention of journalists, who now learned the missing details, so far unpublished, of my great adventure…
That evening, in the quiet of my living room in my apartment in Milan, I found myself re-reading my biography… I re-read it aloud… and, once again, I was moved…
The next day I had the pleasure of meeting so many dear friends in my boutique on the Via della Spiga in Milan, where I autographed the book and enjoyed conversations with beautiful women dressed… “Cavalli”!
The last two days were very intense, emotions welled up inside me that I thought belonged to a remote past… but the story of our lives is written on eternal tablets of stone…
But now I should half-close my book for a moment… tomorrow morning I’ll have to take care of the upcoming fashion shows… I will have to fight with my Stylist about the models to choose… they tend to choose the thinnest ones…!

Non mi succede spesso, ma alla presentazione della mia autobiografia mi sono commosso…
La saletta all’interno della libreria Mondadori si affaccia su Piazza Duomo, offre una vista esclusiva delle famose guglie del Duomo di Milano… diversi manichini con le mie creazioni fanno da cornice nella presentazione alla stampa di “JUST ME!”
Giornalisti, fotografi e blogger sono tutti davanti a noi, al mio fianco introduce il libro il sindaco della mia Firenze, Matteo Renzi… I miei cinque figli sono lì, davanti a me… Cristiana, Tommaso, Rachele, Daniele e Robert… che gioia…! che emozione…! Vivo per loro… e a loro che voglio dedicare la storia della mia vita! So che la mia grande avventura ci ha spesso tenuti distanti… ma loro hanno capito e oggi me l’hanno dimostrato…!
È stata una conferenza stampa diversa da tutte le altre… questa volta la mia moda era una splendida cornice, la mia vita è stata il soggetto principale… quei frammenti di vita che hanno catturato l’attenzione dei giornalisti che hanno così avuto modo di conoscere nei dettagli, finora inediti, la mia grande avventura…
La sera stessa, nel tranquillo salotto del mio appartamento a Milano, mi sono ritrovato a rileggere la mia autobiografia… l’ho riletta a voce alta… e, ancora una volta, mi sono commosso…
Il giorno seguente ho poi avuto il piacere di incontrare tanti cari amici nella mia boutique di via della Spiga a Milano dove ho autografato il libro e mi sono intrattenuto a conversare piacevolmente con donne bellissime… vestite “Cavalli”!
Sono stati due giorni molto intensi, ho ritrovato emozioni che credevo appartenenti ormai a un passato lontano… ma la storia della nostra vita è scritta nelle tavole di pietra dell’eternità…
Ma ora devo socchiudere per un attimo il mio libro, domani mattina dovrò occuparmi delle imminenti sfilate… dovrò ancora litigare con le mie Stylist per la scelta delle modelle… le scelgono sempre troppo magre…!!!
