355. February 1970, the debut…

Paris Salon du Prêt-à-Porter, February 1970, my first Fashion Show. My official debut in the world of fashion.

Evening dresses and leather printed dresses. The technique that I had invented for printing on leather was a success. Everyone was interested in this new way of treating leather. It was an instant hit!

I remember that, at the end of the Fashion Show, I poured myself a glass of red wine and, raising the glass, said to myself “To your future… Roberto!”

I was happy, I had a thousand ideas on how to develop my collections. I felt that the world of fashion was my natural environment, fertile ground in which to develop my creativity.

But why limit the print to the leather… I decided to experiment with jeans and so I began to produce prints on jeans fabric. It was a true revolution. The jeans were not yet part of the fashion collections and my prints gave them that fashion touch that allowed them to enter the platinum world of the catwalks…

I like to remember my beginnings in the magical world of fashion, I like to remember those moments that have changed my life, the people who have accompanied me in this fantastic journey.

Five years ago I celebrated the fortieth year in fashion and February 2015 marks the 45th anniversary of my first fashion show. A very important date for me… almost half a century of successes and excesses… but Excess is my Success!

That young Florentine, full of hopes, ideas and aspirations, has come a long way… from via Maragliano with many ideas and few resources I managed to carve out my own niche in the fantastic world of fashion…

I want to thank you all for your love and loyalty over these years… you have been my inspiration…

355. Febbraio 1970, Il debutto…

Parigi, Salon du Prêt-à-Porter, Febbraio 1970, la mia prima sfilata. Il mio debutto ufficiale nel mondo della moda.

Abiti da sera e capi in pelle stampata. La tecnica che avevo inventato per stampare su pelle fu un vero successo. Tutti erano interessati a questo nuovo modo di trattare la pelle. Fu un successo immediato!

Ricordo che alla fine della sfilata mi versai un bicchiere di vino rosso e sollevando il bicchiere mi dissi “Al tuo future Roberto…!”

Ero felice, avevo mille idee su come sviluppare le mie collezioni. Sentivo che il mondo della moda era il mio ambiente naturale, terreno fertile dove sviluppare la mia creatività.

Ma perché limitarsi alla stampa su pelle… decisi di sperimentare anche con i jeans e iniziai così a produrre stampe su tessuto jeans. Una vera rivoluzione. I jeans non erano ancora entrati a far parte delle collezioni di moda e le mie stampe gli conferivano quel tocco fashion che gli ha permesso di accedere al platinato mondo delle passerelle…

Mi piace ricordare i miei inizi nel magico mondo della moda, mi piace ricordare quei momenti che hanno cambiato la mia vita, le persone che mi hanno accompagnato in questo fantastico viaggio.

Sono appena passati cinque anni dai grandi festeggiamenti per il quarantesimo anno della Maison Cavalli è proprio in questi giorni ricorre il 45esimo anniversario della mia prima sfilata. Un appuntamento per me molto importante.. quasi mezzo secolo di successi ed eccessi… ma l’Eccesso è il mio Successo!

Quel giovane fiorentino, pieno di speranze, idee e aspirazioni ne ha fatta di strada… partito da via Maragliano con tante idee e pochi mezzi e riuscito a ritagliarsi un angolo nel fantastico mondo della moda…

Voglio ringraziarvi per tutto il vostro affetto nel corso di questi anni… il vostro amore è la mia fonte d’ispirazione…
