Last night I was at the Teatro Verdi in Florence to attend the latest play featuring the volcanic Paolo Ruffini.

A musical comedy, it is a revised version of the famous Fairy Tale of Cinderella. I thoroughly enjoyed “Looking for Cinderella”. Paolo Ruffini, Manuel Frattini and Beatrice Baldaccini were able to establish a direct relationship with the audience so that we all felt directly involved in the play!

The performance of March 8th ended the theatrical tour of Looking for Cinderella which played for well over a hundred times all over Italy.

I started to follow Paolo Ruffini several years ago when, in a joking way, he began to dub actors such as Sylvester Stallone and Al Pacino. Paolo is very good at making funny jokes, in his typical Livorno cadence, adapting the texts of the most famous films in a very funny and entertaining way.

I recorded these funny gags years ago and enjoy playing them during my long trips by air. I laugh a lot while my traveling companions look at me intrigued and surprised by so much hilarity.

After the show we all went to the restaurant with Paolo and his colleagues to continue to enjoy a wonderful evening! We had fun till late… one joke after another… all accompanied by fine Tuscan dishes and Chianti wine.

We have a certain healthy inclination in Tuscany to make fun of ourselves. Not surprisingly Tuscany gives us many good comedians. What I really admire in Paolo is his ability to give us moments of really good, original fun.

Thanks Paolo, don’t ever stop. Life is too beautiful to be taken too seriously!

363. Alla ricerca di Cenerentola… con Paolo Ruffini.

Ieri sera sono stato al Teatro Verdi di Firenze per assistere all’ultimo lavoro teatrale del vulcanico Paolo Ruffini.

Una commedia musicale in versione moderna della famosa Favola di Cenerentola. “Cercasi Cenerentola” mi ha veramente divertito… Paolo Ruffini insieme a Manuel Frattini e Beatrice Baldaccini sono riusciti a instaurare un rapporto diretto con il pubblico tale da farci sentire tutti coinvolti direttamente nello spettacolo!

Con l’esibizione dell’8 Marzo si è concluso il tour teatrale di Cercasi Cenerentola che è stato replicato in giro per l’Italia per ben oltre cento volte.

Ho iniziato a seguire Paolo Ruffini diversi anni fa quando, in modo scherzoso, aveva iniziato a doppiare attori del calibro di Silvester Stallone e Al Pacino. Paolo è bravissimo, con la sua cadenza livornese doppiava i film più famosi adattando i testi in modo molto buffo e divertente.

Mi ricordo che ai tempi avevo registrato queste simpatiche gag e mi divertivo a riguardarle durante i miei lunghi spostamenti aerei… ridevo tantissimo, al punto che i miei compagni di viaggio mi guardavano incuriositi e sorpresi da tanta ilarità.

Dopo lo spettacolo tutti al ristorante per continuare in allegria una bellissima serata! Ci siamo divertiti fino a tardi con Paolo e compagni… una battuta dopo l’altra… il tutto accompagnato da ottimi piatti toscani e dell’ottimo vino Chianti.

Noi toscani abbiamo una certa inclinazione nel prenderci sempre un po’ in giro. Non è un caso che la Toscana ci ha regalato così tanti bravi comici. Quello che ammiro molto in Paolo e la sua capacità di regalarci dei bei momenti di vero divertimento.

Grazie Paolo, continua così. La vita è troppo bella per essere presa troppo seriamente!

After another great Milan Fashion Week, I am back in Florence. Lupo, who kept me company while I was in Milan, is particularly happy. I think he missed his garden where he can roam far and wide and keep himself fit!

Throughout the Fashion Week I couldn’t devote much time to Lupo, aside from our daily walks. But he seems to understand. He perceives when I am busy and he finds himself a corner where he curls up. He also shares in the choice of models with me and in everything to do with the last minute preparations before the Fashion Show starts.

Fashion Week is a hectic event, all times are compressed and everything seems to take place at the warp speed of a journey into hyperspace!

I want to thank Milan and all the Milanese who hosted us and allowed us to “occupy” the city for those seven days.

I realize that the Fashion World has a glamorous following with the fashion designers, the models, the journalists, the photographers… for a week Milan becomes the centre of the world… but this also increases the already congested traffic… it becomes impossible to get a table at a restaurant or a room in a hotel…

Nightclubs are busy with the endless parties. Some people have a unique ability to participate in most of them by roaming elegantly from one to another!

But Milan, as a metropolitan city, is always ready to accept the new trends. It welcomed us, as always, with open arms and a big smile!

From May 1 to October 31, Milan will host the Universal Exhibition EXPO 2015. I’m sure it will be a great success!

If you have not visited Italy this is an excellent opportunity to enjoy this beautiful country, la bella Italia!

[:it]362. Grazie Milano per un’altra Fantastica Settimana della Moda!

Terminata la settimana milanese della moda sono rientrato a Firenze. Lupo, che mi ha fatto compagnia mentre ero a Milano, è particolarmente felice e credo che gli mancasse un giardino dove poter scorrazzare in largo e in lungo e tenersi in allenamento!

Durante tutta la settimana della moda non ho potuto dedicare molto tempo a Lupo, a parte le nostre passeggiate giornaliere. Ma lui sembra capire, percepisce quando sono impegnato e si trova un angolino dove accucciarsi e condividere con me la scelta delle modelle e i ritocchi finali prima delle sfilate.

La settimana della moda è un evento frenetico, dove tutti i tempi sono compressi e tutto si svolge con la velocità di un viaggio nell’iperspazio!

Voglio ringraziare Milano e tutti i milanesi che ci hanno ospitato e ci hanno permesso di “occupare” la città per quei sette giorni.

Mi rendo conto che il mondo della moda si porta dietro una scia di glamour con gli stilisti, le modelle, i giornalisti, i fotografi… per una settimana Milano diventa il centro del mondo… ma questo comporta anche un notevole incremento del già congestionato traffico milanese… diventa impossibile trovare un tavolo al ristorante o una camera in albergo…

I locali notturni sono occupati dalle interminabili feste. I più organizzati riescono a partecipare a più feste quasi contemporaneamente passando da un locale all’altro con un’abilità unica!

Ma Milano, città operosa e sempre pronta a recepire le nuove tendenze, ci ha accolto come sempre, a braccia aperte e con un grande sorriso!

Dal primo maggio al 31 ottobre Milano ospiterà L’Esposizione Universale EXPO 2015 e sono sicuro che sarà un grande successo!

Se ancora non avete visitato la bella Italia questa è un’ottima occasione per visitare questo bel paese!

[:en]361. A Collection to Pay Homage to Female Beauty and Oriental Culture…

On my recent trip to the Orient I was fascinated by China… a country with an ancient culture and traditions whose origins are lost in the mists of time.

I left with memories of Chinese art in my heart and I promised myself that I would create a collection that enshrines the magic, the sensibilities, the colours, the prints, the perfumes, the tastes and the ancient history of such a great country.

Chinese art has been the main source of inspiration for the Autumn/Winter 2015-16 collection.

I followed the Fashion Show from my chosen position in the back row, blending with the public, those standing… I followed your reactions, I have felt first hand your preferences… your applause, the flashes, the music, so many emotions… I love the fashion world, I love creating, inventing, experimenting…

With this collection I wanted to pay homage to female beauty borrowing the precious drawings of an ancient oriental culture in addition to the use of rich silk, a material incredibly sensual thanks to its triangular prism-fibres which refract the light at different angles thus producing those colour variations so unique to silk.

It is a collection that also pays tribute to the best Italian manufacturing tradition. All fabrics are in fact embroidered and painted by skilled seamstresses and incredible artists in the “Dream Factory” in Osmannoro, Florence.

I say this because in Florence we continue to produce art, an art that one can wear, an art that wants to enhance the natural beauty of every woman, an art that I often feel I would like to frame as one frames the painting of an artist…

This is my tribute to all of you, because I would like every woman to feel admired, desired, loved…

361. Una Collezione che Rende Omaggio alla Bellezza Femminile ed alla Cultura Orientale…

Nel mio recente viaggio in oriente sono rimasto affascinato dalla Cina… un paese dalla cultura e dalle tradizioni antichissime che si perdono nella notte dei tempi.

Sono ripartito dalla China con dei ricordi molto belli nel mio cuore e mi sono ripromesso di creare una collezione che racchiudesse in se la magia, la sensibilità, i colori, le stampe, i profumi, i sapori e l’antichissima storia di un paese così meraviglioso.

La Cina è stata la mia fonte d’ispirazione per la collezione Autunno/Inverno 2015-16.

Ho seguito la sfilata dalla mia posizione ch ho scelto nelle ultime file, nascosto tra il pubblico, quelli in piedi… da qui ho seguito le vostre reazioni, ho tastato il polso alle vostre preferenze… i vostri applausi, i flash, la musica, quante emozioni… amo il mondo della moda, amo creare, inventare, sperimentare…

Con questa collezione ho voluto rendere omaggio alla bellezza femminile prendendo in prestito i preziosi disegni di quest’antichissima cultura orientale oltre all’uso delle preziose sete, un materiale incredibilmente sensuale che grazie alla sua struttura triangolare-prismatica della fibra rinfrange la luce con angolazioni diverse producendo quelle variazioni di colore così uniche e particolari che solo la seta possiede.

Una collezione che vuole anche rendere omaggio alla migliore tradizione manifatturiera italiana. Tutti i tessuti sono infatti ricamati e dipinti da abili sarte e incredibili artisti nella “Fabbrica dei Sogni” all’Osmannoro, alle porte di Firenze.

Perché a Firenze ancora oggi si produce arte, un’arte che s’indossa, un’arte che vuole esaltare la naturale bellezza di ogni donna, un’arte che spesso vorrei incorniciare così come s’incornicia il quadro di un artista…

Questo è il mio omaggio a tutte voi, perché vorrei che ogni donna possa sentirsi ammirata, desiderata, amata…
