I am back in Florence … and while walking through the streets of the city center I find myself comparing Florence to New York… two continuous sources of inspiration… two cities so different and yet so complementary…
This year Florence – as usual – has changed her dress for Christmas. Florence, as a beautiful woman, knows how to win me… her charm is seductive, unique… you cannot ignore it. Florence wants all your attention and knows how to get it!
My home is wherever I am. Every corner of the world instantly becomes my home, from Beijing to New York, from Thimphu to Paris, but Florence is the place where my roots are and where my family is.
It is always a pleasure to stroll through the narrow streets of the city that these days are almost unrecognizable thanks to the decorations and twinkling Christmas lights…
I am in search of the last of the gifts. Now that I’m a grandfather I find myself buying toys just as I did when my children were small and believed in the magic of Santa Claus… I still remember their incredulous eyes, illuminated by joy, as they unpacked their presents in search of the toy so much expected… a magic that is repeated today with my young angels, my grandchildren!
I have almost completed the shopping on my gift list. This year I finished earlier than in past years… but I have to admit that I already did part of the shopping while in New York…
Tomorrow is the last day of work in the office prior to devoting myself entirely to my big family…
January will starts with the frenzy of work for the pre-fashion shows… adjusting the final details for next fashion shows in February.

Sono rientrato a Firenze… e mentre passeggio per le vie del centro mi ritrovo a comparare Firenze con New York… due città così diverse, due continue fonti di ispirazione e per certi aspetti così complementari…
Anche quest’anno Firenze si è cambiata d’abito in occasione del Natale… Firenze, come una bella donna, sa come conquistarmi… il suo fascino è unico… non puoi ignorarla. Firenze vuole tutta la tua attenzione e sa come ottnerla!
La mia casa è ovunque mi trovo. Ogni angolo del mondo diventa istantaneamente la mia casa, da Beijing a New York da Thimphu a Parigi, ma Firenze è il luogo dove ci sono le mie radici…
È sempre un piacere passeggiare per le strette vie del centro che in questi giorni sono quasi irriconoscibili per via degli addobbi e delle scintillanti luci natalizie…
Sono in cerca degli ultimi regali. Ora che sono nonno mi ritrovo a comprare i balocchi come quando i miei bimbi erano piccini e credevano nella magia di Babbo Natale… Mi ricordo ancora i loro sguardi increduli, illuminati di gioia, scartare i pacchi alla ricerca del balocco così tanto atteso… una magia che oggi si ripete con i miei giovani angeli, i miei nipotini!
Ho quasi completato la mia lista di regali. Quest’anno sono in anticipo rispetto agli anni passati… ma devo confessarvi che una parte di shopping l’avevo già fatta a New York…
Domani sarà l’ultimo giorno di lavoro in ufficio prima di dedicarmi interamente alla mia grande famiglia…
A Gennaio si riparte con la frenesia pre-sfilate con gli ultimi dettagli per la presentazione delle prossime collezioni a Febbraio.
Ancora una volta vi incanterò con la magia dei miei colori…
