241. The New Silk Road – Taking Silks back to the Orient…

In 1200 Marco Polo, the famous Venetian merchant, traveled the Silk Road in search of the precious fiber that would later become the subject of its trade with the Orient…

After a little more than 800 years Roberto Cavalli is taking his silks and exotic fabrics back to the Orient…

I am just back from China… Beijing… an incredibly fascinating country… ancient traditions and cultures with their origins lost in the mists of time…

The Orient has always fascinated me. This trip, short but intense, allowed me a close-up look and experience of this ancient culture.

It was a succession of events, commitments and interviews… I confess that I do not know where I found all the energy… the adrenaline started to flow through my veins from the time I arrived until my departure….

Now, finally, a moment’s rest… it’s time to update you…

I left Las Vegas, where I spent a few days relaxing after my trip to Brazil… I took the opportunity to try my luck at the gaming tables and witness the remarkable talents of my friend Kanye West.

The length of my flight to China allowed me to experiment with my electronic gadgets. I was able to spend part of the time watching movies, listening to music and rearranging my photo archives…

Angelica Cheung, Editor in Chief of Vogue China, proved a most gracious hostess… a perfect ambassador for her country and gave me a special welcome…!

The first appointment was at the Beijing Fashion Institute where I held a ‘lectio magistralis’ with the support of Angelica Cheung as moderator. I spoke of my beginnings and illustrated future projects. The students were very bright and asked a number of really interesting questions… they had an engaging perspective…

The afternoon continued with a big party held at my boutique in the luxurious Peninsula Hotel… with more than five hundred guests and friends…

Immediately after the mega party I was engaged in two photo shoots, one for Vogue and the other for Madame Figaro China. The models were beautiful…

The evening continued with a lavish dinner organized by the influential Silas Chou. It was held on the top floor of the PANGU, a 7 star hotel, with an incredible view of the Water Cube…

The next day I spent the day visiting such historic sites as the fascinating Forbidden City.

In the afternoon I took part in a photo shoot with the famous blogger Tina Leung. It was followed by a series of interviews with major Asian fashion magazines… again, interesting perspectives.

The Italian Ambassador in China organized a dinner in my honor at the Italian embassy where the tables were set with items selected from the Cavalli Home collection.

The last day was dedicated to the Cavalli Home collection. During the presentation of the collection, which took place in the Da Vinci store, I was pleased to meet with the famous Chinese designer Steve Leung. The theme of our dialogue was “Roberto Cavalli – Lifestile and Inspiration” in which we explored the traditional Chinese culture as an artistic and creative form. This was followed by a series of interviews with journalists from the press and television.

A dinner at the historic Beijing Hotel, which offers a beautiful and exclusive view over the city, concluded the evening .

I am leaving Chine and I am going back to Italy with a bit of Orient in my heart… I have promised myself that I will return to China soon. I would like to have more time to explore this part of the world… with so much to discover…

The culture and Oriental traditions have always fascinated and intrigued me…

241. La nuova Via della Seta – Ho riportato le sete in Oriente…

Nel 1200 Marco Polo, il celebre mercante Veneziano, percorse la Via della Seta alla ricerca della preziosa fibra che sarebbe poi diventata oggetto dei suoi commerci con l’Oriente…

Dopo poco più di 800 anni Roberto Cavalli porta le sue sete e i preziosi tessuti in Oriente…

Sono appena rientrato dalla Cina… Beijing… un paese incredibilmente affascinante… culture e tradizioni antichissime che si perdono nella notte dei tempi…

L’Oriente mi ha sempre affascinato e questo viaggio, breve ma intenso, mi ha permesso di vedere da vicino e conoscere più a fondo quest’antichissima cultura.

È stato un susseguirsi di eventi, impegni, interviste… e vi confesso che non so dove sono riuscito a trovare l’energia… l’adrenalina ha iniziato a scorrere nelle mie vene da quando sono arrivato fino al momento della ripartenza…

Ora posso finalmente concedermi un attimo di riposo e ne approfitto per aggiornarvi…

Sono partito da Las Vegas, dove ho trascorso alcuni giorni di relax di ritorno dal Brasile… ne ho approfittato per testare la mia fortuna al tavolo da gioco e per assistere al magnifico spettacolo del mio amico Kanye West.

Il volo che mi ha portato in Cina mi ha permesso di trastullarmi con i miei gadget elettronici. Ho avuto modo di trascorrere parte del tempo guardando film, ascoltando buona musica e riorganizzando il mio archivio fotografico…

La squisita Angelica Cheung, Editor in Chief of Vogue China, ha fatto gli onori di casa riservandomi un’accoglienza speciale…!

Il primo appuntamento è stato al Beijing Fashion Institute dove ho tenuto una ‘lectio magistralis’ con il supporto di Angelica Cheung in veste di moderatore. Ho parlato dei miei inizi e illustrato i progetti futuri. Gli studenti mi hanno poi posto una serie di domande molto interessanti…

Il pomeriggio è proseguito con un mega party presso la mia boutique nel lussuoso Peninsula Hotel… con oltre cinquecento ospiti e amici…

Subito dopo il mega party sono stato impegnato in due servizi fotografici per Vogue Cina e Madame Figaro con bellissime modelle orientali…

La serata è poi proseguita con una cena, organizzata dall’influente Silas Chou, all’ultimo piano del PANGU, un Hotel a 7 stelle con una incredibile vista sul Water Cube…

Il giorno seguente ho dedicato parte della giornata alla visita dei luoghi storici come l’affascinante Città Proibita.

Nel pomeriggio ho partecipato ad un servizio fotografico con la famosa blogger Tina Leung. A seguire una serie di interviste con le principali testate di moda asiatiche…

L’ambasciatore Italiano in Cina ha organizzato una cena in mio onore presso l’ambasciata Italiana. I tavoli sono stati allestiti con oggetti selezionati dalla collezione Cavalli Home.

L’ultimo giorno è stato interamente dedicato alla collezione Cavalli Home. Durante la presentazione della collezione, che si è svolta nel negozio Da Vinci, ho avuto il piacere di intrattenermi con il famoso designer cinese Steve Leung, il tema del nostro dialogo è stato “Roberto Cavalli – Lifestile and Inspiration” in cui abbiamo esplorato la cultura tradizionale cinese come forma di comunicazione artistica e creativa. Sono seguite una serie di interviste con i giornalisti di stampa e tv.

Ha concluso la serata una cena che si è tenuta nello storico Beijing Hotel che offre una vista bellissima ed esclusiva sull’intera città.

Riparto alla volta dell’Italia, con un pezzetto di Oriente nel mio cuore… mi sono ripromesso di tornare presto in Cina, con più tempo a disposizione… vorrei esplorare questa parte di mondo a me parzialmente sconosciuta…

La cultura e le tradizioni Orientali mi hanno sempre affascinato e incuriosito…
