Now that I have introduced you to all of my friends who were with me on this beautiful amfAR evening, I will take you by the hand so that you will be able to feel my emotions!
Sarah Jessica Parker opened the evening. She explained the mission of the association. I would have expected more emphasis and passion, given amfAR’s great contribution in providing help to so many children suffering from AIDS in Africa.
After the introduction there was an auction to raise funds. There were not many items. I had expected a greater number of many more donors and then a great battle to buy!
I offered two front row seats for my fashion show in Milan and a “complete look” to be chosen from my boutique in Via della Spiga!
I was quite happy since the package offered by the Cavalli fashion house reached 32,000 Euros at auction. Not bad!
Lindsay Lohan came over to my table to say hello. I didn’t recognize her at first.
A long blonde hair flowed over her shoulder and covered part of her beautiful face.
I asked the reason for her hairstyle and she reminded me that in her new film about the life of Elizabeth Taylor.
Lindsay will play the part of Elizabeth Taylor. This is a very important role. I hope she will find herself after so many difficulties. I met Lindsay in Los Angeles at her eighteenth birthday party – she was just a beautiful young girl with so much promise and her dreams!
Finally Cindy takes the stage, which means it’s my turn. Cindy will give me an award for my help and deep attachment to amfAR. I begin to get sick to my stomach.
It almost never happens. Too many important people. More than two thousand who will hear my speech and judge.
Already that morning my assistants were imploring me to prepare a few sentences.
I have a very bad character, I fear that if I prepare, I could lose my spontaneity!
But the thing that most frightens me is not having the mastery of the language.
I keep asking myself “will the two thousand people present understand what I am saying?”.

Cindy begins to introduce me. As she describes how I am a little genius of fashion so my fear to go up on stage grows!
I pluck up courage and go up. My sunglasses help me to hide. I ride in advance, I go up too early before Cindy is finished, but I was too eager to start and finish!
I noticed that during this wonderful evening no one had adequately explained the real work of amfAR. Having followed this great Association for over ten years.
I felt compelled to be the promoter and I shake the feelings of all present.
I started telling them of Sharon Stone’s tears of emotion at Cannes as she described her experiences in Africa. Many of the children born with AIDS die each day. I feel like their spokesman trying to convince all those present to give up a little piece of their happiness in favor of someone who suffers, who dies!
Many, many cheers, means they understood my English. I managed to convey my message, how exciting!
I then returned to my table and on the way met the hands of all those who wanted to shake mine!
The best compliment I got was from my son Daniele “BELLISSIMO BABBO, MERAVIGLIOSO” BEATIFUL DAD, MARVELOUS. Daniel does not praise easily.
His words made this evening even more special and magical!

Dopo avervi presentato gli amici che hanno condiviso con me questa bella serata amfAR, vi prendo per mano e cerco di farvi provare le mie emozioni!
Sarah Jessica Parker ha aperto la serata ed ha illustrato la missione dell’amfAR.
Mi sarei aspettato più enfasi e calore visto il supporto da parte di quest’associazione ai tanti bambini malati di AIDS in Africa.
Dopo l’introduzione è iniziata l’asta per la raccolta di fondi. I pezzi offerti non erano molti, mi aspettavo un maggiore numero di donatori e quindi una grande battaglia all’acquisto!
Avevo offerto due posti in prima fila per la mia sfilata di Milano che si svolgerà nei quattro giorni della moda e un look completo da scegliere nella mia Boutique di Via della Spiga. Sono rimasto abbastanza soddisfatto, tutto questo pacchetto, offerto dalla maison Cavalli, è stato aggiudicato per 32.000 Euro. Non Male!
Lindsay Lohan è venuta al mio tavolo a salutarmi, ho stentato a riconoscerla.
I capelli biondissimi che le arrivavano oltre le spalle le coprivano anche parte del suo bel viso. Le ho chiesto la ragione di questa pettinatura e lei mi ha ricordato il nuovo film che inizierà a breve sulla vita di Elisabeth Taylor.
Lindsay dovrebbe interpretare la parte di Elisabeth Taylor, un film e una parte molto importanti per lei. Le auguro di ritrovare se stessa dopo tante difficoltà. Conobbi Lindsay a Los Angeles alla festa del suo diciottesimo compleanno. Era solo una bella e giovane ragazza che sognava e prometteva molto!
Finalmente vedo Cindy salire sul palco, significa che tocca a me.
Cindy mi consegnerà un premio per il mio profondo aiuto e attaccamento all’amfAR. Incomincio a soffrire di male allo stomaco, non mi succede quasi mai…
Troppe persone importanti, più di duemila ospiti che avrebbero ascoltato e giudicato il mio discorso.
Già dalla mattina i miei assistenti m’imploravano di prepararmi perlomeno qualche frase. Ho un gran brutto carattere, temo che preparando delle frasi in anticipo potrei perdere la mia spontaneità!
La cosa che più mi preoccupa è la scarsa padronanza della lingua.
Mi ripetevo “capiranno cosa voglio dire le duemila persone presenti?”.

Cindy incomincia a presentarmi, più le sue parole mi descrivono come un piccolo genio della moda e più il mio timore di salire sul palco aumenta!
Mi faccio coraggio e salgo, i miei occhiali scuri mi aiutano a nascondermi. Sono salito in anticipo…! Avrei dovuto attendere che Cindy terminasse l’introduzione, ma avevo troppa voglia di incominciare e finire!
Avevo notato che nel corso di questa magnifica serata nessuno aveva spiegato in maniera adeguata l’obiettivo di amfAR.
Seguo questa grande associazione ormai da oltre dieci anni e mi sono sentito in dovere di esserne il promotore per cercare di scuotere i sentimenti di tutti i presenti. Ho iniziato raccontando delle lacrime di emozione negli occhi di Sharon Stone a Cannes nel descrivere la sua esperienza in Africa.
Mi sono sentito portavoce delle migliaia di bambini nati con l’AIDS cercando di avere da tutti i presenti un pezzetto della loro felicita in favore di chi soffre, di chi muore!
Tanti, tanti applausi! Significa che hanno capito il mio inglese, che sono quindi riuscito a trasmettere il mio messaggio, che emozione!
Ritorno al mio tavolo incontrando le mani di tutti quelli che volevano stringere la mia!
Il complimento più bello l’ho avuto da mio figlio Daniele “BELLISSIMO BABBO, MERAVIGLIOSO”. Daniele non è facile ai complimenti e queste sue parole hanno reso questa serata ancora più speciale e magica!
