CLASS Roberto Cavalli Spring/Summer 2013 Men’s Collection

[slideshow id=44 w=730 h=975 images=0]

CLASS Roberto Cavalli Spring/Summer 2013 Men’s Collection

Paris-Dakar is the inspiration behind the CLASS Roberto Cavalli Spring/Summer 2013 Men’s Collection.

The CLASS Roberto Cavalli man travels down, as a leading spectator, a reckless path which he observes in an intellectual and ironic manner, painting on a canvas the colours and magic of the countries he crosses.

As a romantic dreamer, the CLASS Roberto Cavalli man loses himself in the magic of the places and recreates its atmospheres, adopting a look reminiscent of the first car races of the 1920s when the first stop was in Luberon, Provence.

The protagonist of this famous journey loves wearing white cotton gauze shirts printed with inspirational ‘toiles de jour’ motifs in blue and pink, always combined with white or cobalt blue.

The air is fresh and crisp, typical of an early summer morning, perfect for a relaxing dandy look: the pants are soft in satin cotton and linen, to be worn with deconstructed jackets in double cotton or micro patterns; the relaxed fit shirts alternate between cotton and silk.

The prints represent the magical seas and patterns of Provence.

The atmosphere becomes stronger and more eccentric when our man arrives in the magical land of Granada, where he cannot resist the charm of dancing at night, adopting an elegant, but original style: the jacket is fitted with ‘pied de poule’ patterns, worn with bow ties and fancy shirts, slim-fitting trousers and patent leather shoes.

The colours are strong: blue, red, emerald green and the prints recapture the geometric patterns of Spanish cathedrals, both the jackets and pants alternate between jacquard fabrics and embroidered motifs to create a sophisticated and ironic look playing on geometries and a mix of stripes.

Finally, in anticipation of the arrival of the famous rally, the CLASS Roberto Cavalli man at Dakar loses himself in the infinite mystery of the desert: the shirts are printed in the colours of sand, tobacco and natural white. The jacquard jerseys resemble typical African carpets; the suits are made of natural fibres, with lively grisaille in raffia and linen/cotton.

The vintage inspired ‘aristo-dandy’ look is enhanced in the typical suede jacket and the evergreen safari jacket, reinvented and made of suede or crinkled nylon: the style is still sophisticated but relaxed for a man who loves being eccentric but who also yearns for classic tailoring glamour.

106. MEN…FASHION… MEN…FASHION… MEN…FASHION!

I like to dress the woman, make her special… sexy… glamorous… highlight her femininity…

Ten years ago, I created my first men’s collection! What type of man did I want to address? I did not have a clear idea. I wanted to change the monotony of a choice of a suit. The first year I tried to make new proposals, sometimes too risky and therefore not easy to understand. Often without the support of an adequate advertising campaign!

I have always approached the music world and these proposals helped me to become a good friend of Lenny Kravitz. In last season’s collection I preferred to address the man who wants to take care of himself… be admired for elegance accented with sophisticated details and colors…

In the collection I presented yesterday I gave a lot of space to the classic blazer jacket, tailored to the body to make it sleek and mascolinizzando, making the shape of the shoulder more masculine… more sexy!

The colors make a huge difference. My son Daniele and I photograph some butterflies’ wings through a macro lens. Magnified, the subtle details in the images become our winning idea! It is from the veins of their wings and the fantastic colors… turquoise… blue… green… that we create the designs for the suits.

Daniele has a brilliant idea… to use metallic leather for a blazer with matching boots!

The surprise of the show that met with much success was a large mesh enclosure housing over a thousand butterflies. Before the parade I waved to my illustrious guests. Franca Sozzani graciously surprised me, I had not expected her presence at the Man Fashion Show! I was also very happy to see Suzy Menkes, the great fashion journalist of the International Herald Tribune.

The photographers had their cameras aimed at Kellan Lutz and his beautiful girlfriend Sharni Vinson, the young Australian actress, model and dancer. The handsome young Spaniard, actor Miguel Ángel Silvestre, elegant in a Roberto Cavalli design, bestowed smiles on the beautiful girls.

The lights dim… a few seconds of suspense…… the first model marks the beginning of the Fashion Show. The musical accompaniment creates the atmosphere for the dress code of the future beautiful playboy!

I LOVE YOU

106. MODA UOMO… MODA UOMO… MODA UOMO!

I LOVE YOU
Roberto Cavalli
