340. Three days of complete relaxation…

On Monday, December 8 in Italy we celebrated the “Immaculate Conception”. I took advantage of this holiday to indulge in a short holiday in the company of my family at a spa resort in the beautiful setting of the Tuscan countryside.

Only three days, but it had the effect of a whole week of relaxation… here the landscape is one that will remain etched in your mind, the one that you can see in each painting by Leonardo da Vinci… the austere cypress trees strictly aligned and the rolling hills, the late autumnal seasonal colours ranging from deep reds to light browns…

For three days, and only for these three days, I have had the pleasure of feeling pampered… spiritually and physically… strictly natural foods… bathing in steaming hot springs… a blessing…!

If you are passing through Tuscany I recommend you to take a short and invigorating holiday here…

340. Tre giorni di completo relax…

Lunedì 8 dicembre in Italia si celebra la festa dell’Immacolata Concezione. Ho approfittato di questo lunedì festivo per concedermi una breve vacanza in compagnia della mia famiglia presso una località termale nella bellissima cornice della campagna Toscana.

Soltanto tre giorni ma che hanno l’effetto di una intera settimana di relax… qui il paesaggio è di quelli che ti rimangono impressi e che rivedi in ogni dipinto di Leonardo da Vinci… gli austeri cipressi rigorosamente allineati e le morbide colline, i colori tipici del tardo autunno che variano dal rosso intenso al marrone chiaro…

Per tre giorni, e solo per questi tre giorni ho avuto il piacere di sentirmi coccolato… circondato da mille attenzioni… cibi rigorosamente naturali… bagni nelle caldissime acque termali… un vero toccasana…!

Se vi trovate a passare per la Toscana vi consiglio di concedervi una breve e rinvigorente vacanza in questa località…

339. There is a scent of Christmas in the air…339. Nell’aria c’è profumo di Natale…

339. There is a scent of Christmas in the air…

Just a little over two weeks to Christmas and its scent and sounds are in the air…

The decorations, those yuletide cookies and a festive atmosphere surround us and capture children’s imaginations.

Florence changes at Christmas time. Lights, decorations, tourists… the temperature is few degrees centigrade above zero and sometimes we even get a sprinkling of snow…

This year I decided to spend Christmas in Florence in the company of my children and grandchildren… I will unplug myself for a few days and devote myself entirely to my great family!

These days I am busy working on the new collections and the upcoming fashion shows in January and February. Christmas offers me the opportunity I need to take a break, even if only for just a few days.

I just had a glance at my long list of gifts and my grandchildren are the highest priority on it. How wonderful it will be to see the surprise on their faces… their eyes light up… then with their mouths wide open they remain briefly paralyzed before letting go their screams of joy…

But Christmas at the Cavalli home is a long standing tradition, an event that reminds our own childhoods and gathers us all together, allowing us to share all those beautiful moments that will last forever in our hearts.

I already know that the next two weeks will fly away and then, like magic, everything will stop to allow us to savour those very precious moments together, to reorganize our thoughts and stay close to the people we love.

And you, dear friends, how will you spend your holidays?
My wish is that you will spend them in peace and in the company of your loved ones.

Let us savour those moments together. All of us!

339. Nell’aria c’è profumo di Natale…

Mancano poco più di due settimane il profumo e i suoni del Natale sono nell’aria…

Le decorazioni, i tipici dolci e l’atmosfera festiva ci avvolgono e catturano la fantasia dei più piccini.

Firenze a Natale si trasforma. Luci, addobbi, turisti… la temperatura si attesta intorno a qualche grado sopra lo zero e qualche volta ci regala anche una spruzzatina di neve…

Quest’anno ho deciso di trascorrere il Natale a Firenze in compagnia di figli e nipoti… voglio staccare la spina per qualche giorno e dedicarmi interamente alla mia grande famiglia!

In questi giorni sono molto impegnato per le nuove collezioni e la preparazione delle prossime sfilate di Gennaio e Febbraio. Natale mi offre l’opportunità per concedermi una pausa, anche se solo per qualche giorno.

Ho appena dato uno sguardo alla mia lunga lista dei regali e i miei nipotini sono in cima alla lista. Com’è bello vedere la sorpresa nei loro volti… gli s’illuminano gli occhi… spalancano la bocca e rimangono per qualche istante come paralizzati prima di lasciarsi andare a quei tipici urletti di gioia…

Il Natale a casa Cavalli è una tradizione di lunga data, un evento che ci riporta al periodo della nostra infanzia, che ci riunisce, permettendoci di condividere quei bei momenti che porteremo per sempre nei nostri cuori.

So già che le prossime due settimane voleranno via in un attimo e poi, come per magia, tutto si fermerà per darci modo di assaporare quei momenti così preziosi, riorganizzare i nostri pensieri e stare vicini alle persone che amiamo.

E voi cari amici come trascorrerete le vostre feste?
Il mio augurio è di trascorrerle in pace e in compagnia dei vostri cari.

337. Creativity – 2

In the previous post I talked about creativity and today I will continue to talk to you about how the inspiration for my creations comes to me…

Creation, Nature… the great world around us… Being positive, positivity allows me to create joy, to create dresses that transfer to the wearer a feeling of positive, sublime happiness… like the scent of a flower… a blue sky or the twinkling stars…

Traveling is also one of my greatest sources of inspiration. I have lived in Florence, Milan, Paris, London, New York… Each of these places has helped to fuel my creativity. Every place in a different way… from the beauty of Renaissance Florence to the buzz that only the unique energy of New York can give you… the extreme elegance of Paris to the crossroads and cross-currents of cultures offered by London. Milan, there is only one Milan, is my second home…

Traveling provides unfailing interest and pleasure… cultures, cuisines, lifestyles and landscapes so different. Travelling opens the mind and stimulates creativity.

In all my journeys I have taken thousands of photos. With the advent of digital cameras organizing and viewing my photos has become easier than ever.

Photography is one of the tools I use most often… for itself and as a means of sketching… I spend hours in front of the computer browsing through the pictures I have taken during the years of travelling around the world. Each image evokes in me memories of each trip and it is amazing how a picture can bring back the sounds, the smells, the sensations of the moment when they were first experienced…

You travel as much as you can, discover our fantastic planet, try to know as many people and peoples as you can… your creativity will be grateful and reward you for it.

337. Creatività – 2

Nel post precedente vi ho parlato della creatività e oggi vorrei continuare a parlarvi di come nasce in me l’ispirazione per le mie creazioni…

Il creato, la natura, il fantastico mondo che ci circonda… Essere positivi, la positività mi permette di creare con gioia, creare abiti che riescono a trasferire a chi li indossa un sentimento di positiva, euforica felicità… come il profumo di un fiore, l’azzurro del cielo e lo scintillio delle stelle…

Viaggiare è una delle mie grandi fonti di ispirazione. Ho vissuto a Firenze, Milano, Parigi, Londra, New York… Ognuno di questi luoghi ha contribuito ad alimentare la mia creatività. Ognuno in modo diverso, dalla bellezza rinascimentale di Firenze alla frenesia di una grande metropoli come solo New York è in grado di dare. L’estrema eleganza di Parigi e il crocevia di culture che offre una città come Londra. Milano è una città unica, è la mia seconda casa…

Viaggiare è una delle cose che mi da più piacere… culture, sapori, stili di vita e paesaggi così diversi tra loro. Viaggiare apre la mente e stimola la creatività.

In ogni mio viaggio scatto migliaia di foto e da quando esistono le macchine fotografiche digitali organizzare e visionare le mie foto è diventato ancora più semplice.

Il mio grande archivio fotografico è uno degli strumenti che uso più spesso… passo ore davanti al computer a scorrere le foto che ho scattato nel corso degli anni in giro per il mondo. Ogni foto evoca in me i ricordi di ogni singolo viaggio ed è incredibile come una foto riesca a farmi ricordare i suoni, i profumi, le sensazioni di quel momento…

Viaggiate quanto più potete, scoprite questo nostro fantastico pianeta, cercate di conoscere quante più persone potete… la vostra creatività ve ne sarà grata…
