Roberto Cavalli Woman Fall / Winter 2013-14 Pre-Collection

The Roberto Cavalli Fall/Winter 2013-2014 pre-collection is inspired by the roots and the history of the Maison Cavalli.

The study of the city of Florence in the Renaissance period, its paintings, its colors and most of all its decorations along with Villa Cavalli itself with its rich walls and precious objects, brought to a rediscovery for the taste of true craftsmanship, inspired by the tapestries and brocades that decorate the house.

The prints recreate the appearance of the carbon sketching technique used by Renaissance masters in the early phases of the creation of frescoes and we added strong, evident colors like red and yellow.

The silhouette of this season distinguishes itself for its simple lines, fitted to the body but not overly tight, and straight at the bottom.  Tube dresses with a newer and more fashionable length which arrives significantly below the knee.  Dresses with a slight flair which arrives mid-thigh.  The sheath dresses with the simplest shapes are extremely decorated and enriched by engineered prints with embroideries that follow the prints.

Other pieces have black embroideries applied to create a transparent effect. Lace is once again a must  this season.  You find it combined with the prints where it is used to at the necklines, the waist and the hemline. The strongest dresses are in black leather to add contrast.  The pencil skirts are super slim and very sexy with high slits.

The jackets are characterized by structured shoulders and straight lines. Coats are very important in this collection and are either straight or fitted with animal prints on tweed.

The color palette for this season was inspired by the works of Florentine artists. From the masterpieces of Botticelli and Donatello came colors like bitter chocolate and camel, while from the artworks of Masaccio and Ghirlandaio came the saturated colors of the earth such as dark emerald, sapphire, yellow persimmon, red cranberry and mauve.

The ‘Diva bag’ underwent a careful restyling. The models, created with refined and precious materials, have been enriched in every detail making them perfect and timeless.
The new Florence shoes, within the comfortable and chunky daytime metal heel, evoke the scaled motif of the Florence bag.
The jewellery is opulent and exquisite, characterized by the snake theme, symbol of the Cavalli Maison.

176. Columbus Day – That Boy from Puccini Square…

Roberto Cavalli with Robin Cavalli176. Columbus Day – That Boy from Puccini Square…

The Italians of America chose me to represent Italy on the 59th Columbus Day – the celebrations which mark the occasion of the anniversary of the discovery of America by a famous Italian, Christopher Columbus.

I was very proud to be recognized in this way and to represent Italy at this event!

The president of “Italians in America,” explained how the day would unfold.  I will be the Grand Marshal with the band across my chest and the conductor of the big parade to take place on Fifth Avenue.

The big day begins with a solemn Mass celebrated by the Bishop of New York in the Cathedral of Saint Peter on Fifth Avenue.  Eva and my children are close to me and there is so much emotion in all of us.  I feel really important, the large band with the inscription Grand Marshal makes me very proud!

The parade starts … my car, a vintage Ferrari convertible opens the parade… I’m standing and I want Robin, the youngest of my children, next to me.  Along the way there is a great crowd of Italians who applaud from behind the barricades that mark the parade route.  I reach to greet all and reciprocate their enthusiasm… they call my name… Roberto… Roberto… I really do not know which way to turn… Robin has fun and I enjoy living this feeling with him.

Behind us, there are big floats from all regions of Italy… decorated with many flowers… with speakers to broadcast the music… many troupes of skilled flag-wavers from the Calcio Storico Fiorentino.

Once in front of the cathedral my car stops and the Cardinal walks down the steps, approaching us and giving us the blessing.

We resume the parade.  On arrival there is a big musical band along with New York Mayor Bloomberg and Hillary Clinton who greet me with all the honors.

A great day… great emotions… wow… that kid from Puccini Square in Florence had become Grand Marshal in New York!  Who could ever have imagined such a thing…

Un bacino…

I LOVE YOU

Roberto Cavalli - 59th Columbus DayRoberto Cavalli with Robin Cavalli176. Columbus Day – Quel Ragazzo di Piazza Puccini…

Roberto…

I LOVE YOU
