Here in New York the Stars are more important than the designers. The camera flashes are all for them.
As it is Milan so it is Paris, the only difference been for Italian and French designers having a Star in the front row at our show can be absurdly expensive, with private plane (depending on importance) hotel and cachet all sky high.
Only the big names like Gucci and Louis Vuitton can afford the big Stars!
In New York it is different. The costs are lower and the Top Models require a cachet that is half of what it is expected in Italy! I’ve never understood why!
The Stars in America are best friends with the designers.They live like neighbors in the same city.

The most seen Star at the NY Fashion week was Jessica Alba.
Matt Damon was at the Mark Jacobs show.
Leighton Meester, Natalie Portman, Ivanka Trump and Adriana Lima were present at many shows.

I met Uma Thurman at the Narciso Rodriguez fashion show, she embraced me with great sympathy and friendship.
I invited her to my show in Milan.
She said that she was busy shooting a fantastic movie, promising that I shall really like it. “I’m sure” I replied reciprocating her sweet embrace!

I would like to share with many details of a small pre-dinner party last night.
I’m not a writer so do not feel up to being able to describe every detail.
Sure, I wanted to have my camera with me to catch the simpatiche follie (sympathetic follies) of fashion.

I never understood why so many young designers, especially Americans, dress themselves up so absurdly in an effort to to bring out their personality style!
I find it amusing and sometimes a little degrading for the fashion world to which they belong!

In a few days the great zoos of fashion will moved to Milan.
Two main dates the first Friday 24 JUST CAVALLI and then Monday 27 ROBERTO CAVALLI.

I’ll be a star, I’ll play my part and the fear of not being up to what the fashion world expects of me is great!

Only your warmth and affection give me so much creativity…

Qui a New York le Stars sono più importanti dei designers, i flash sono tutti per loro.
Come a Milano e Parigi, con la sola differenza che a noi stilisti italiani o francesi avere una Star in prima fila al nostro show costa una cifra assurda. Viaggio in aereo privato (dipende dall’importanza), hotel e un cachet spesso alto.
Solo i grandi nomi come Gucci e Louis Vuitton si possono permettere le grandi Stars!

A New York è diverso, i costi sono più contenuti e anche le modelle, le Top Model sfilano con un cachet dimezzato rispetto all’Italia! Non ne ho mai compresa la ragione! Le Stars in America sono grandi amiche dei designers, vivono nella stessa città e quindi è rutto più facile.

La Star più vista in giro è stata Jessica Alba. Matt Damon era da Mark Jacobs.

Ho incontrato Uma Thurman al défilé di Narciso Rodriguez, mi ha abbracciato con molta simpatia e amicizia. L’ho invitata al mio show a Milano, mia ha risposto che è impegnatissima in un film fantastico, mi ha promesso che mi piacerà molto . “NE SONO CERTO” le ho risposto contraccambiando il suo dolcissimo abbraccio!

Vorrei raccontarvi con tanti particolari di un piccolo party pre-dinner di ieri sera.
Non sono uno scrittore e non mi sento all’altezza per potervi descrivere in modo adeguato ogni dettaglio. Certo, avrei voluto avere con me una macchina da presa per riprendere le simpatiche follie della moda.

Non ho mai capito perché molti giovani designers, specialmente americani, per evidenziare la loro personalità stilistica, si vestono o si acconciano in maniera assurda! Lo trovo divertente, ma spesso degradante per il mondo al quale appartengo !

Fra pochi giorni il grande zoo della moda si trasferisce a Milano, per ben due volte, prima venerdì 24 con JUST CAVALLI e poi lunedì 27 con ROBERTO CAVALLI.

Sarò un protagonista, reciterò la mia parte e il timore di non essere all’altezza di quanto il mondo della moda si aspetta da me è grande!

Solo il vostro calore e affetto mi danno tanta creatività…

I live on the 46th floor of a glass skyscraper overlooking Central Park. If you suffer from vertigo, I will not invite you for a coffee!

Central Park is a beautiful patch of green that stretches in downtown Manhattan. When I write sometimes I think I speak with my kids, who think they know everything, but do not really know much…

What is Manhattan? Is an island, is the lifeblood of New York.
Manhattan is located at the mouth of the Hudson River and is the most populated of the five boroughs of New York.

So many roads that intersect at right angles divide New York, the Avenue, which by convention goes from north to south. The central and most famous is the Fifth Avenue. The cross roads are named Streets, by convention in Manhattan, are running from east to west. I live at the 57 Street, in the middle!

The northern part is Harlem and the further south the Village or SoHo or TriBeCa. Normally called “downtown”.
I hope I’ve helped for your next visit to New York, and if you invite me, I might come with you!

Una città che non soffre di solitudine, una città che, come me, conosce solo l’eccesso e come me lo usa come un suo slogan: “L’ECCESSO E’ IL MIO SUCCESSO”.

Abito al 46esimo piano di un grattacielo a vetri che si affaccia su Central Park. Se soffri di vertigini, non t’invito a prendere un caffe da me!

Central Park è un meraviglioso fazzoletto di verde che si estende nel centro di Manhattan, quando vi scrivo talvolta, penso di parlare con i miei bambini, che credono di sapere tutto, ma in realtà non sanno molto…

Che cosa è Manhattan? E’ un’isola, è il centro pulsante di New York.
Manhattan si trova alla bocca del fiume Hudson ed è il più popolato dei cinque quartieri di New York.

New York è divisa da tante strade che s’intersecano ad angolo retto, le Avenue, che per convenzione vanno da nord a sud. Quella centrale e più famosa è la Quinta Avenue o Fifth Avenue. Le strade trasversali si chiamano Street e, per convenzione a Manhattan, vanno da est a ovest.
Io abito all’altezza della 57th Street, circa a meta!

La parte più a nord è Harlem e quella più a sud il Village o Soho o TriBeCa. Normalmente chiamata “downtown”.
Spero di avervi facilitato nella vostra prossima visita a New York, e, se me lo dite prima e mi invitate vengo con voi!

Fashion is strange and beautiful or horrible depending upon your perspective!
La moda portabile, the wearable fashion that we all desire? It’s not the fashion that journalists think they understand. Actually, they are trying to stay afloat in a world that provides them with a livelihood. Their approval or disapproval according too often seems a function of the advertising that the Fashion House spends with the newspaper for which they write!

There is no objectivity. At the moment I am in America, so I must speak of American fashion… A FASHION THAT DOES NOT EXIST except in the sense of a tight circle whose views are dictated by VOGUE AMERICA and by Anna Wintour who seems to see fashion according to her age, her body and her sympathies!
She does not seem to like Italian and French fashion – the true Fashion!

Days ago I read about “Gisele returning to runway fashion” wearing a black leather armor from a fashion designer loved and encouraged by Anna Wintour!
I do not want to name names… Every designer does what he can do, but fashion is part of our everyday life and the absurd is the absurd!

I’m talking about fashion in general, do not speak about me or what I do.
I started doing fashion and for me it was my art, a way to express and give vent to my imagination. I do respect those who really do fashion!
Some designers, mainly Japanese, know how to find new shapes and cuts that future fashion will use to understand and study!
My fashion will be in the world of creativity and color!

La moda è strana e bella oppure orribile, a seconda da dove la guardi!
La moda portabile che tutti noi desideriamo? Non è quella dei giornalisti, che credono di capire, ma in realtà cercano di tenersi a galla in un mondo che gli da’ da mangiare. Devono far sentire la loro approvazione o disapprovazione in base alla pubblicità che la maison spende con il giornale per il quale scrivono!

Non c’è obbiettività. Sono in America , quindi devo parlare della moda americana… UNA MODA INESISTENTE se vogliamo usare la parola moda, solo una mafia dettata da VOGUE AMERICA e da Anna Wintour che fa moda in base alla sua età, al suo fisico e alle sue simpatie! Non ama la moda italiana e francese, la vera Moda!

Giorni fa ho letto di “Gisele che torna sulle passerelle della moda”, indossava una corazza di pelle nera di uno stilista amato e sponsorizzato da Anna Wintour!
Non voglio fare nomi. Ogni stilista fa ciò che sa fare, ma la moda è parte della nostra vita di tutti i giorni e l’assurdo è assurdo!

Sto parlando della moda in generale, non parlo di me né di quello che faccio.
Ho incominciato a fare moda e per me era la mia arte, una maniera di esprimere e dare sfogo alla mia fantasia, rispetto chi fa veramente moda!

Alcuni stilisti, principalmente giapponesi, sanno trovare nuove forme e tagli che la moda futura userà per comprendere e studiare!
La mia moda sarà nel mondo della creatività e del colore!
