The awful weather did not offer the possibility of taking off on flights of fancy! What can I tell you? I am convinced that your desire is to gain some insight into my fashion, my life.

I have already told you how I entered the world of fashion. I was not one of those kids who liked to make clothes for dolls. I can assure you that I am not telling stories. Many young and talented designers who have developed their passion and approach to the fashion world, started out by sewing dresses for their dolls when they where young! The world is so diverse and wonderful. I respect everyone and everything!

In my thoughts and in my philosophy, there are words that are part of my life… TO LOVE… TO DREAM… TO DESIRE… TO BELIEVE…

Also, there is a limit to what I can disclose! My life has been an adventure… sometimes sad… sometimes special… but always INCREDIBLE! From this fantastic adventure I draw the inspiration to write. I write… I write everything that I can remember… anything that might be interesting to recount…

I just have a fear of confiding too much of what is inside me! It would perhaps be more correct to publish my adventure posthumously once God has taken me back home… But, I prefer to be here, to know if my life is as special as I think it is…

Roberto Cavalli 80. Ho trascorso un Primo Maggio estremamente tranquillo.

Il tempo orribile non ha offerto nessuna possibilità a voli di fantasia! Che cosa posso raccontarvi? Sono convinto che il vostro desiderio è quello di conoscere qualche sprazzo della mia moda, della mia vita

Vi ho già raccontato come sono entrato nel mondo della moda. Non sono stato uno di quei ragazzini che si divertiva a fare i vestitini ai bambolotti. Posso garantirvi che non vi sto’ raccontando storie, diversi giovani e bravi stilisti si sono appassionati e avvicinati al mondo della moda da giovani, cucendo vestitini ai loro bambolotti! Il mondo è meraviglioso perché è vario. Io rispetto tutto e tutti!

Nei miei pensieri e nella mia filosofia, esistono parole che fanno parte della mia vita… AMARE… SOGNARE… DESIDERARE… CREDERE…

Inoltre, vi è un limite a quello che posso rivelare! La mia vita e stata un’avventura… talvolta triste… talvolta speciale… ma sempre INCREDIBILE! È proprio da questa fantastica avventura che traggo lo spunto per scrivervi. Scrivo, scrivo tutto ciò che sono capace di ricordare… tutto ciò che può essere interessante da raccontare…

Ho solo un gran timore di confidare troppo di ciò che è dentro di me! Sarebbe forse più giusto che pubblicassi questa mia avventura quando Dio mi farà tornare a casa… Ma, preferisco esserci, per sapere se la mia vita è stata così speciale come credo…

Miei cari amici il vostro calore è l’energia della mia vita… della mia fantasia… della mia voglia di vivere!

60. Nothing Special Today…

60. Nothing special today.

Today I spent a whole day in my office at Osmannoro, on the outskirts of Florence. Not an interesting day for me, but perhaps you would be interested in a fashion designer’s day at the office… could be interesting… fun… intriguing… but don’t let me overdo it!

Even I have my problems… and it would not be that interesting to go into the details…

That part of my day is over… home in front of the computer… fixing some drawings I proposed today to my team… ideas unanimously adopted… now I try to improve them.
The night brings me a special quiet and the ideas come into clearer focus.

I alternate research work with Twitter. I enjoy writing some BS and then reading your replies! Some are very funny, too bad that there is a limit of 140 characters. Twitter does not allow you to say as much as you want! Lupo is sleeping like a log under my desk snoring like a drunk!

Tonight I feel lighter. At seven, before returning home, I stopped at the hairdresser’s. Sometimes I have to take care of myself. CARLO BAY… a dear friend… one of the best hairdressers in Italy… many shops… never understood how he can handle them all! Recently he opened in Moscow. I must check before I go because Carlo, almost like me, is always traveling around the world!

“Not bad… maybe a little shorter, Carlo…”
Meanwhile, a very pretty girl is manicuring my hands…
It’s very relaxing to go to the hairdresser… reading various gossip magazines… staying current with what’s going on in Italy and around the World… spend a little time calling a lady friend or gentleman friend I haven’t spoken to for a while…
Of course Lupo is waiting for me under the chair.

Tomorrow? Easter week begins. I have made no arrangements. The weather is wonderful… Florence is enjoying spring time… dare we hope it will continue. April is often a rainy month!

60. Niente di speciale oggi.

Oggi ho trascorso un giorno intero in ufficio all’Osmannoro, alle porte di Firenze. Non è una giornata da raccontare, forse voi siete comunque interessati nel sapere come trascorre il suo tempo in ufficio uno stilista di grido… può comunque essere interessante… divertente… intrigante… NON ESAGERATE !!!

Anch’io ho i miei problemi… e non sarebbe divertente scendere in particolari…

La mia giornata in ufficio è finita… sono a casa davanti al computer… sistemo alcuni disegni che oggi ho proposto al mio team… approvati all’unanimità… ora cerco di migliorarli.
La notte mi porta una speciale tranquillità e riesco a mettere a fuoco le idee.

Alterno il lavoro di ricerca con qualche battuta su Twitter. Mi diverte scrivere qualche “cazzata” e leggere le vostre risposte! Alcune sono molto divertenti, peccato che il limite dei 140 caratteri di Twitter non ti permette di dire tutto quello che vorresti! Lupo sta dormendo come un ghiro sotto la mia scrivania, russa come un ubriacone!

Questa sera mi sento più leggero, alle sette, prima di tornare a casa mi sono fermato dal parrucchiere. Ogni tanto devo avere cura di me stesso. CARLO BAY… un caro amico… uno dei migliori parrucchieri in Italia… tanti negozi… non ho mai capito come faccia a seguirli tutti! Ultimamente ha aperto anche a Mosca. Devo informarmi prima di andarci, Carlo è sempre in giro per il mondo, quasi come me!

“Non male Carlo… forse… un po’ più corti…”
Nel frattempo una fanciulla molto carina si occupa delle mie mani… E’ molto rilassante andare dal parrucchiere, oltre a leggere i vari giornaletti di gossip, per essere sempre aggiornati su cosa sta succedendo in Italia e nel Mondo, passo un po’ di tempo a telefonare a qualche amico o amica che non sento da un po’ di tempo…
Naturalmente Lupo è qui che mi aspetta, sdraiato sotto la sedia.

Domani? Incomincia la settimana di Pasqua, non ho fatto nessun programma. Il tempo è meraviglioso, a Firenze sembra primavera inoltrata. E’ difficile sperare che continui per lungo tempo. Aprile è spesso un mese piovoso!

59. I am very busy with the new collections…
We have chosen the fabrics and colors, now we are working on the designs and drawings for the prints.

I cannot reveal much about the direction of our ideas but I can tell you that I am very pleased! And this is only the beginning…!
My dear fans… beautiful… most beautiful… young and old, I can reveal that it is very difficult for a designer to come up with more new ideas for the creation of a new collection!

You know fashion and have very clear ideas about what you want. The television … the newspapers … show your idols … and the stars will make you dream! I am very jealous and preoccupied about how the fashion system is now so different from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. In those days there were the designer catwalks, which made you dream… the catwalks were special…

Today the catwalks are offering semi-minimalist collections.

Many stars have their own lines, but very often the level of the quality of their designs is not of the highest. It is the name of the star on the label that will sell!

Today I am more controversial than funny! But I want you to understand how difficult it is to make you happy! My commitment is to make you DREAM through my fashion!

Today I’m jumping from office to office … hectic day… also dedicated to the sunglasses…! I have a new designer who joined me in the creations and choices processes… constantly in search of the CAVALLI style… ideas… designs… materials…

The JUST CAVALLI collection engages me more and more… like a growing child who needs my love… who needs to be grasped by the hand and lead…
I’m working at the JUST CAVALLI collection with a special passion and I am sure that you will love the next summer collection…

JUST CAVALLI is my young line, and you know how much I love to create for young people!

JUST CAVALLI WILL MAKE YOU CRAZY! I promise.

59. Sono molto impegnato con le nuove collezioni…
Abbiamo già scelto tessuti e colori, adesso stiamo decidendo sui modelli e i disegni per le stampe.

Non posso rivelarvi molto sulla direzione delle nostre idee ma posso dirvi che sono molto soddisfatto! E siamo soltanto all’inizio…! Mie care fans… belle… bellissime… giovani e meno giovani, posso rivelarvi che è decisamente molto difficile per un designer avere idee sempre nuove nel creare una collezione!

Voi conoscete bene la moda e avete le idee molto chiare su cosa desiderate. La televisione… i giornali… vi mostrano i vostri idoli… e le star vi fanno sognare! Sono molto geloso e preoccupato di come il sistema moda sia oggi così diverso rispetto agli anni 70, 80 e 90. Allora era lo stilista che vi faceva sognare… le passerelle erano speciali…

Oggi le passerelle propongono collezioni semi minimaliste.

Molte star hanno una propria linea, molto spesso non all’altezza ma sponsorizzata dal nome della star sull’etichetta!

Oggi sono più polemico che divertente! Ma desidero farvi comprendere quanto sia difficile farvi felici! Il mio impegno è sempre quello di farvi SOGNARE attraverso la mia moda!

Oggi mi sto spostando da un ufficio all’altro… giornata frenetica… dedicata anche agli occhiali…! Ho un nuovo designer che mi affianca nelle creazioni e nella scelte… costantemente alla ricerca dello stile CAVALLI… design… idee… materiali…

La collezione JUST CAVALLI m’impegna sempre di più… è come un bambino che crescendo ha bisogno del mio affetto… che ha bisogno di essere afferrato per la mano e guidato…
Mi sto dedicando alla collezione JUST CAVALLI con una passione speciale e sono certo che la prossima collezione estiva vi piacerà molto…

JUST CAVALLI è la mia linea giovane, e voi sapete quanto amo creare per i giovani!
