I’m leaving from the Venice Lido, I start the helicopter, the blades begin to rotate and slowly gain speed.

The control tower allows me to lift-off from the ground. Too bad, the sky is not as blue today as it was yesterday. Today is gray and dusty, the horizon line is almost invisible and the sea has taken the color of the sky. I try to fly at a low altitude because of the poor visibility.

I have never flown over this part of Italy… lots of small islands and a lot of swamp…

Here is the land! I begin to glimpse the fields and small villages… I look at the map and then the GPS… I should soon be flying over Lake Garda… I begin to see a large dark spot… it is a shame but today the sun has betrayed me… I could have had a unique view… Lake Garda from above!

I can see the great wheel of Gardaland… I have never been there… I should take my grandchildren one day…

I see Peschiera del Garda and, in the center of the lake, a strip of land that ends with the charming ancient town of Sirmione… a beautiful castle in the center of the town and at the end of the isthmus the historical Roman ruins of the Grotto of Catullus… all very fascinating! I try to express my emotions and I hope that the photos that Sandra is taking will give you the feeling of our flight!

I’m flying over Verona, I slow down and approach the center to allow Sandra to photograph the Arena… magnificent! Verona is one of Italy’s most beautiful cities!

I also slow down my flying speed over Brescia, another city that conjures up emotions!

My last photos will be taken with Milan in view… I hope you have enjoyed flying with me…

194. Un Viaggio in Elicottero…

Sto partendo dall’aeroporto del Lido di Venezia, ho messo in moto l’elicottero, le pale incominciano a girare piano e lentamente acquistano velocità.

La torre di controllo mi autorizza a staccarmi da terra, mi alzo in volo. Peccato, il cielo non è blu come ieri, oggi è grigio e polveroso, la linea dell’orizzonte è quasi invisibile e il mare ha preso il colore del cielo. Cerco di mantenermi basso per la scarsa visibilità.

Non avevo mai sorvolato questa parte d’Italia… tantissime piccole isole e tanta palude…

Ecco la terra! Incomincio a intravedere i campi e i piccoli paesi… do un’occhiata alla carta e poi al GPS… fra poco dovrei sorvolare il lago di Garda… incomincio forse ad intravedere una larga macchia scura… peccato che il sole oggi mi ha tradito… avrei potuto assistere ad uno spettacolo unico… il lago di Garda dall’alto!

Riesco a intravedere la grande ruota di Gardaland… non ci sono mai stato… dovrei portarci i miei nipotini…

Vedo Peschiera del Garda e nel centro del lago una lingua di terra che finisce con l’antico paese di Sirmione… un castello bellissimo nel centro della cittadina e alla fine dell’istmo le antiche rovine romane delle Grotte di Catullo… tutto molto affascinante! Cerco di esprimere le mie emozioni e mi auguro che le foto che Sandra sta scattando possano rendervi partecipi del nostro volo!

Sto sorvolando Verona, rallento e mi avvicino al centro per permettere a Sandra di fotografare l’Arena… magnifica! Verona è una delle più belle città d’Italia!

Rallento anche sorvolando Brescia, un’altra città da emozione!

Le mie ultime foto saranno in vista di Milano… spero che volare accanto a me, vi abbia divertito…

193. Italian Masterpieces… A Day in Murano

A wonderful day! After a lot of rain, snow and hail finally a smiling blue sky allowed us to enjoy the magnificent helicopter ride from Milan to Venice!

For a little over a year the Cavalli Maison has embarked on a beautiful journey into home furnishings with the CAVALLI HOME collections! Furniture for a modern home. Sofas and armchairs upholstered with beautiful fabrics. Some printed with the fantasy of my drawings.

The art of the table… the renowned Cavalli taste… to make a dinner a special occasion…

I’ve always had an attraction for Glass…
When I lived in Paris, I spent my weekends at the famous antique markets in search of Galaj… Doume… and other renowned French vessels of the early twentieth century.

The CAVALLI HOME collection could not miss a line in blown Murano glass… masterpieces of Italian art!

We arrive at the small Lido airport where a boat is waiting to take us to Murano. We arrive at the beautiful Formia Glass factory, the largest, the most beautiful and the oldest. The owner, Mr. Luigi Monti, gives us a warm welcome!

I designed different objects, vases, modern and traditional chandeliers, compositions of golden balls in various sizes. The purpose of today’s visit is to see how beautifully they have been able to execute my suggestions.

It’s great to witness this ancient art of glass-blowing. The glass is heated in mega ovens to temperatures of up to 2000 degrees.

They explain all the stages of the process to me. Until today I did not know exactly how the glass was made. Now I know a little more and the process fascinates me very much. I will have some interesting information to pass on to my children… The glass is made from sand, soda, potash carbonate, lime carbonate, sodium nitrate and barium carbonate.

I hope you found this as interesting as it was for me. Let me show you my creations with the blown Murano glass. I leave you with a movie and some photos…

193. I Capolavori Italiani… Un Giorno a Murano

Una giornata meravigliosa! Dopo tanta acqua, neve e grandine finalmente un sorridente cielo blu ci ha fatto godere il magnifico viaggio in elicottero da Milano a Venezia!

Da poco più di anno la Maison Cavalli ha intrapreso un bellissimo cammino nell’arredamento della casa con le collezioni CAVALLI HOME! Mobili per una casa moderna. Divani e poltronissime rivestite con magnifici tessuti. Alcuni stampati con la fantasia dei miei disegni.

L’arte della tavola… il rinomato gusto Cavalli… per rendere la cena un momento speciale…

Ho sempre avuto un’attrazione per il Vetro…
Quando vivevo a Parigi, trascorrevo i miei week end ai famosi mercati di antiquariato alla ricerca dei Galaj… Doume… e altri rinomati vasi francesi dei primi del novecento.

Alla collezione CAVALLI HOME non poteva mancare una linea in vetro soffiato di Murano, capolavori dell’arte italiana!

Siamo arrivati al piccolo aeroporto del Lido, dove un motoscafo ci attende per portarci a Murano. Arriviamo alla bella Vetreria Formia, la più grande, la più bella e la più antica. Il proprietario, il signor Luigi Monti, ci da il benvenuto!

Ho disegnato diversi oggetti, vasi, lampadari moderni e tradizionali, composizioni di palle dorate in varie dimensioni. Nel corso della visita odierna devo controllare e giudicare se tutto ciò che avevo suggerito era stato ben eseguito.

È bellissimo assistere a quest’antica arte di soffiare il vetro che viene riscaldato in mega forni che raggiungono una temperatura di 2000 gradi.

Mi sono fatto spiegare tutte le fasi della lavorazione. Fino a ieri non sapevo esattamente come il vetro veniva composto, adesso ne so un po’ di più e il processo mi ha interessato molto. Avrò un importante argomento con i miei figli… Il vetro è composto da Sabbia, Soda, Carbonato Potassa, Carbonato Calce, Nitrato di Sodio e Carbonato di Bario.

Mi auguro che sia stato interessante per voi quanto lo è stato per me. Mi piace illustrarvi le mie creazioni con il vetro soffiato di Murano. Vi lascio in compagnia del filmato e di alcune foto…

I was undecided whether to publish it or not, I was afraid to talk too much about myself… about my past… about my thoughts… open up almost completely.

Thank you for your love, I’ll follow your advice… SOTTO LA MIA PELLE… UNDER MY SKIN… I think it is a fascinating title.

In my book, I’ll tell you everything I have inside me and what there was of a mystery in my life. I said mysterious, perhaps that is a bit too strong…

I’ll tell you and I will share with you incredible and fantastic moments of my life as well as some truly tragic moments…

God wanted to test me and I responded accordingly! Life is beautiful!

I’m writing from the piano bar of a special hotel. A great place for those who love the SPA and enjoy the pleasure of swimming outside in cold weather in a naturally heated pool! It’s fun!

After a magnificent dinner we came to hear a great singer in the piano bar. I share a really good Margarita with Sandra. I am also happy because Fiorentina woooooon…!

An exceptional evening, I’m smiling inside and out…

192. Sotto La Mia Pelle…

GRAZIE! Siete stati meravigliosi, avete capito quanto sia importante per me questo libro.

Sono stato indeciso se pubblicarlo, temevo di parlare troppo di me… del mio passato… dei miei pensieri e aprirmi quasi completamente.

Grazie di volermi bene, credo che seguirò il vostro consiglio… SOTTO LA MIA PELLE… lo ritengo un titolo interessante.

Nel mio libro vi racconto tutto quello che ho dentro e cosa c’è stato di misterioso nella mia vita. Ho detto misterioso, forse è un po’ troppo…

Vi racconto e vi faccio partecipi dei momenti incredibilmente fantastici della mia vita, ma anche dei momenti incredibilmente tragici…

Dio ha desiderato mettermi alla prova ed io ho risposto degnamente! La vita è bella!

Vi sto scrivendo dal piano bar di un hotel speciale. Un posto magnifico per chi ama le terme e avere il piacere di nuotare nell’acqua naturalmente calda all’aperto con una temperatura molto bassa! È divertente!

Dopo una cena magnifica siamo venuti ad ascoltare un bravo cantante nel piano bar dell’hotel. Divido un’ottima Margarita con Sandra. Sono felice perché la Fiorentina ha vintoooooo…!

Una serata eccezionale, sto sorridendo dentro e fuori…
