I’m in Las Vegas and it’s incredibly hot… 40 Degrees!
The Nevada desert surrounds Las Vegas… it looks like an oasis that appears out of nowhere… the weather is always good here, 300 days of sunshine out of 365!

I was invited by my friend Guy Laliberté, president and founder of Cirque Du Soleil, to attend the opening night of the MICHAEL JACKSON ONE show which is presented by the Cirque Du Soleil at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

I arrived in Las Vegas one day in advance for some business meetings. Las Vegas is a very interesting place… “The entertainment capital of the world…”

But I want to tell you about Michael Jackson and this fantastic show, Michael Jackson ONE.

I met Michael Jackson several times. His creative genius, his vision and his message of unity, harmony and hope for a better world have always resonated with me. I remember when he said to me “we need to give love and remind everyone of the importance of love…“, a thought that I have always shared…

Michael was an artist who was always been ahead of his time. Even today his music is still so present, his musical genius is not affected by the passage of time…

I spoke with Michael by phone a week before his tragic death, he was fine, I still remember his typical way of speaking with his soft voice…

The show created by Cirque du Soleil in his honor is absolutely stupendous! I have never seen a show so unique… an audio-visual experience! Sounds… colors… lasers… special effects… its cast of talented artists transported me through the most important moments in Michael Jackson’s career…

This is a show that I recommend you to see… you’ll be amazed!

Las Vegas is also the gaming capital of the world. I decided to try my luck at the blackjack table… you know that when I play I’m superstitious… small gestures and little rituals… but tonight I was not lucky, I spent two pleasant hours and I console myself by thinking that anyway… I’m lucky in love!

Tomorrow I have an appointment with some important clients at my Boutique in Las Vegas. I shall be surrounded by beautiful women…

Before leaving Las Vegas I have to make a trip to The Strip, those 6 kilometers that are the iconic center of Las Vegas… the road symbol of shopping and entertainment…

Sono a Las Vegas e fa un caldo incredibile… ci sono 40 Gradi!
Las Vegas è circondata dal deserto del Nevada, sembra un’oasi che spunta dal nulla… qui è sempre bel tempo, 300 giorni di sole su 365!

Sono stato invitato dal mio amico Guy Laliberté, presidente e fondatore del Cirque Du Soleil, alla serata inaugurale dello spettacolo MICHAEL JACKSON ONE che il Cirque Du Soleil presenta al Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino di Las Vegas.

Sono arrivato a Las Vegas con un giorno di anticipo per alcuni impegni di lavoro. Las Vegas è una città molto interessante… “capitale mondiale dell’intrattenimento”…

Ma voglio parlarvi di Michael Jackson e di questo fantastico spettacolo, Michael Jackson ONE.

Ho incontrato Michael Jackson diverse volte, il suo genio creativo, la sua visione e il suo messaggio di unità, armonia e speranza in un mondo migliore mi hanno sempre colpito. Mi ricordo quando mi diceva “dobbiamo dare amore e ricordare a tutti l’importanza dell’amore…”, un pensiero che ho sempre condiviso…

Michael era un’artista che ha sempre anticipato i tempi, anche oggi la sua musica è ancora così attuale, il suo genio musicale non risente del passare del tempo…

Ho parlato con Michael per telefono una settimana prima della sua tragica scomparsa, stava bene, mi ricordo ancora il suo tipico modo di parlare con quella sua voce soft…

Lo spettacolo creato dagli artisti del Cirque du Soleil in suo onore è assolutamente fantastico! Non avevo mai visto uno spettacolo così speciale… un’esperienza audio-visiva unica! Suoni… colori… laser… effetti speciali… un cast di artisti bravissimi mi hanno trasportato attraverso i momenti più importanti della carriera artistica di Michael Jackson…

Uno spettacolo che vi consiglio di vedere… ne rimarrete affascinati!

Las Vegas è anche la capitale del gioco e ho deciso di sfidare la fortuna al tavolo del Black Jack… sapete che quando gioco sono superstizioso… piccoli gesti e rituali… ma questa sera non sono stato fortunato al gioco, ho passato due ore piacevoli e mi consolo pensando che comunque… sono fortunato in Amore!

Domani ho appuntamento con alcune importanti clienti alla mia Boutique di Las Vegas, sarò circondato da donne bellissime…

Prima di lasciare Las Vegas devo fare un salto a The Strip, quei 6 chilometri che sono il centro iconico di Las Vegas… la strada simbolo dello shopping e del divertimento…

213. When Daniele was a child he always ask me so many questions…

Daniele has always been hungry for knowledge… has always had an inclination to explore, to experiment… this inclination was with us when together we created the Spring / Summer 2014 Men’s Collection. 

For a few years now Daniele has been taking care of the Cavalli Maison Men’s Collection bringing with him his creative abilities and his desire to innovate… finally, men no longer have to wear boring or unnecessarily eccentric suits…. 

A new elegance enhanced by tailored exclusive fabrics and new technologies have allowed us to achieve special processing for fabrics and leathers… 

Such an innovative collection needed an equally innovative presentation and so we decided to present it outside of the traditional catwalk, in a place that transports us back in time to the Middle Ages, the private, ancient cloister on the Via Cappuccio in Milan. 

There, with soft lighting and drapes we created a magical amber atmosphere that takes us back in thought to chivalry and the knights of olde… 

I loved the idea of using the teleidoscope, this is an elaboration of the kaleidoscope, a tool capable of creating fantastic geometries and symmetries of images and colors…

Experimentation, innovation, research, elegance… a magical combination! I feel passionate about the creation of this collection with Daniele who, I must admit, has shown real brilliance… Bravo, Daniele… 

Daniele, Eva and I welcomed the many friends who honored us with their presence… a wonderful evening in an almost surreal atmosphere with a perfect soundtrack – another inspiration of Daniele’s…

213. Daniele, fin da bambino, mi ha sempre fatto tante domande…

Daniele è sempre stato avido di conoscenza… ha sempre avuto un’inclinazione nell’esplorare, nello sperimentare… questa sua inclinazione ci ha accompagnato quando insieme abbiamo creato la collezione uomo primavera/estate 2014.

Da alcuni anni Daniele cura le collezioni uomo della maison Cavalli portando in dote le sue capacità creative e la sua voglia di innovare… finalmente, non più abiti noiosi… o inutilmente eccentrici…

Una nuova eleganza, impreziosita dai materiali pregiati, dal taglio sartoriale e dalle tecnologie che ci hanno permesso di ottenere quelle lavorazioni speciali dei tessuti e delle pelli…

Una collezione così innovativa aveva bisogno di una presentazione altrettanto innovativa e così abbiamo deciso di presentarla al di fuori delle tradizionali passerelle, in un luogo che ci trasporta indietro nel tempo, al medio evo, l’antico chiostro privato di via Cappuccio a Milano.

Qui abbiamo ricreato una magica atmosfera ambrata tra luci soffuse e drappeggi che ci riportano con il pensiero ai cavalieri d’altri tempi…

Mi è piaciuta molto l’idea di usare il taumascopio, un’elaborazione del caleidoscopio, strumento capace di creare quelle fantastiche simmetrie d’immagini e colori…

Sperimentazione, innovazione, ricerca, eleganza… una magica sintonia! Mi sono appassionato a creare questa collezione con Daniele che, devo ammettere, è diventato veramente bravo…

Insieme a Eva e Daniele abbiamo accolto i tanti amici che ci hanno onorato con la loro presenza… una serata piacevole in un’atmosfera quasi surreale con una colonna sonora perfetta, anche questa scelta da Daniele…

212. The Color of Summer…

Punctual as always, summer is here…

When you are a child you can’t wait for the summer to arrive… it coincides with school holidays… hot long days that seem to never end… you spend the day with your friends discovering life without all those worries that are reserved for the adults…

I remember the first summer in Florence. Our family had just moved in to Maragliano Street that year and it was a very hot summer… I spent my days outdoors playing and running… and in the evening we enjoyed the magical show of the fireflies…

Fast forward… Saint Tropez, 1973, my first Boutique… it was an incredible summer, I met and fell in love with a sweet girl from Germany who… still one of my fondest memories…

And then the period of the Costa Smeralda, the mega parties … so many friends… Eva and I spent our time with our young family and in organizing the Cavalli Mega Party… it did not matter where you were on vacation, but you had to be in Sardinia by mid-august to be at the Mega Party!

Summer is color! Each season has its own colors, but the colors of summer are unique, strong, prime, sometimes gaudy, but always full of vitality, full of energy…

When I’m on my boat and around me I’m surrounded by light blue with shades of blue up to storm-dark blue, I say, “My God, I love these combinations of turquoise…”

July is a busy month for me, getting ready for the collections in September, months of work culminating in a collection that should enchant… surprise… make you dream …

It’s a race against time… Italy in August “Closed for Holidays” and in September there will be no time… everything has to be ready before closing the company for the summer break…

This year I have not yet made plans for the summer… definitely I will spend a few days on the bat-boat… a few days with my grandchildren… I have several invitations from friends in different parts of the world… who knows, maybe we’ll meet somewhere…

212. Il Colore dell’Estate…

Puntuale come ogni anno anche quest’anno è arrivata l’estate…

Quando sei bambino non vedi l’ora che arrivi l’estate che poi coincide con la fine dalle scuola… quelle calde giornate che si allungano e sembrano non finire mai… il gruppo di amici con cui si andava in avanscoperta, senza tutti quei pensieri che sono riservati agli adulti…

Mi ricordo la prima estate a Firenze, ci eravamo da poco trasferiti in Via Maragliano e quell’anno faceva un caldo terribile… passavo le mie giornate all’aperto a giocare e a correre… e la sera si ammirava lo spettacolo magico delle lucciole…

Fast forward… Saint Tropez, 1973, la mia prima Boutique… fu un’estate incredibile, un incontro e un amore dolcissimo con una ragazza tedesca che ancora oggi appartiene ai miei ricordi più belli…

E poi il periodo della costa Smeralda, le mega feste… tanti amici… con Eva si passava il tempo ad organizzare il Mega Party a casa Cavalli… non importava dove andavi in vacanza, ma a ferragosto dovevi essere in Sardegna al Mega Party!

L’estate è colore! Ogni stagione ha i suoi colori, ma i colori dell’estate sono unici, forti, a volte sfacciati, ma sempre pieni di vitalità, pieni di energia…

Quando sono sulla mia barca e intorno a me sono circondato dal blu chiaro con tonalità che arrivano fino al blu scuro, e dico: “Dio mio, amo questa combinazione di turchese…”

Luglio è un mese intenso per me, fervono i preparativi per le collezioni di Settembre, mesi di lavoro che culminano in una collezione che deve incantare… stupire… far sognare…

È una corsa contro il tempo… l’Italia in Agosto “chiude per ferie” e a Settembre non ci sarà tempo… tutto deve essere pronto prima di chiudere la ditta per la pausa estiva…

Quest’anno non ho ancora fatto progetti… passerò sicuramente alcuni giorni sul bat-gommone… qualche giorno con i miei nipotini… ho diversi inviti da amici in diverse parti del mondo… chissà forse ci incontreremo in vacanza…
