75. My First Collection of Home Furnishing…

Roberto Cavalli @ Roberto Cavalli Home 75. My first collection of home furnishing is called “CAVALLI HOME”.

The pictures of the interior of my house in Florence, the one in Panzano in Chianti and the interior of my boat have been published in almost all the interior design magazines. I have always received many compliments on my style in creating unique interior designs!

I must admit, if I had not dedicated my life to fashion, my desire would have been to do architecture and interior design.

Into this new Home collection I transferred my Fashion industry… elegance… the softness of the leather… my unique drawings… my palette of colors. I have always believed that colors are the representation of positive thinking. The home that welcomes us should give us the pleasure to live and smile!

I show my collection in a pavilion at the Milan Interior Design Show. It is a great success! At one point the flow of visitors is so great we have to close the doors temporarily.

Among the objects of the new home collection that I like the most is a sofa in soft mink and two comfortable armchairs covered in fine silk with a jaguar print.

With this collection I wanted to create a modern lifestyle with a touch of personality a joy of living in harmony with the Roberto Cavalli fashion.

[slideshow id=30 w=290 h=440 images=0]To celebrate this collection I have invited the press, friends and clients to the Villa Crespi, a stunningly beautiful villa situated in the heart of Milan’s quadrilateral. It is a beautiful 18-century villa that has preserved the splendor of that period.

I wanted to display some pieces I designed among these timeless wonders. I wanted to show how a modern object could live with beautiful antique furniture!

75. La mia prima collezione di oggetti e arredi per la vostra casa si chiama “CAVALLI HOME”.

Le foto della mia casa di Firenze, quella di Panzano in Chianti e la barca sono state pubblicate in quasi tutte le riviste di arredamento. Ho ricevuto sempre tantissimi complimenti per il mio stile nel creare arredamenti unici!

Devo ammetterlo, se non avessi dedicato la mia vita alla moda, il mio desiderio sarebbe stato quello di occuparmi di architettura e disegno d’interni.

In questa collezione Casa ho trasferito la mia esperienza nel campo della moda, l’eleganza… la morbidezza delle pelli… i disegni che mi contraddistinguono… i colori. Ho sempre creduto che i colori sono la rappresentazione della positività. La casa che ci accoglie deve offrirci il piacere di vivere e sorridere!

Ho presentato la mia collezione in un padiglione alla mostra del mobile di Milano. È stato un grande successo! A causa del flusso elevato di visitatori a un certo punto abbiamo anche dovuto chiudere temporaneamente le porte.

Fra gli oggetti della nuova collezione Casa che preferisco ci sono un divano in morbida pelliccia di visone e due comodissime poltrone ricoperte in pregiata seta con stampa giaguaro.

Con questa collezione desidero lanciare uno stile di vita moderno con un accento di personalità, di gioia di vivere, in sintonia con la moda di Roberto Cavalli.

[slideshow id=30 w=290 h=440 images=0]Per celebrare questa collezione ho invitato la stampa, gli amici e i clienti a Villa Crespi, una villa incredibilmente bella situata nel cuore del quadrilatero Milanese. Una splendida costruzione settecentesca che ha mantenuto intatto lo splendore di quel periodo.

Ho esposto alcuni pezzi disegnati da me fra queste meraviglie senza tempo. Desideravo dimostrare come un oggetto moderno può convivere con i bellissimi mobili d’epoca!

74. August 11th, Our Holidays…

74. August 11th, our holidays are devoted to the big party.

Everybody is talking about our party and sometimes, between all the parties we attend, we even have time to go to the beach!

Our name is among the most widely known on the Costa Smeralda. Everybody wants to be our friend. Everyone aspires to be invited to the summer party at Villa Cavalli.

It’s the heyday of the Costa Smeralda… great actors… great singers… spend a few days in Porto Cervo. We are aware of their arrival in one of the three big hotels on the coast.
We deliver their invitations directly to the hotels upon their arrival. My name become the brand for the special parties… full of beautiful girls… many VIPs… the champagne flows… it is all true… it is our reality!

One big memorable party… my great friend Zucchero comes to stay with us at Porto Rotondo… without asking him to sing at the party, without wishing to take advantage of our friendship, it was Zucchero himself who said “Roberto, I would like to sing, this party is so special… it is such wonderful evening!”

Another very good memory… some years later… Lionel Richie is our guest… a music legend. We spend the evening singing duets… many Italian songs. Several guests also wish to perform with Lionel… a memorable evening!

After each party we have to make a note of the mementos the guests have taken with them as souvenirs of the party… I believe many of the guests have Cavalli pillows in their homes… so many happy summer memories!

I treasure these little memories I offer to each of you, because I care about you… because your admiration is the source of my creativity!

74. 11 Agosto, le nostre vacanze sono dedicate alla grande festa.

Non si parlava di altro, se avanzava un po’ di tempo, si andava in qualche spiaggia a fare il bagno!

Il nostro nome era fra i più contesi della Costa Smeralda. Tutti desideravano la nostra amicizia, tutti ambivano un invito alla festa dell’estate a villa Cavalli.

Era il periodo del massimo splendore della Costa Smeralda, grandi attori… grandi cantanti… trascorrevano qualche giorno a Porto Cervo. Eravamo a conoscenza del loro arrivo nei tre grandi alberghi della costa. Gli inviti erano recapitati direttamente presso l’hotel al loro arrivo. Il mio nome diventò sinonimo del divertimento… delle feste speciali… ragazze bellissime… tanti Vip… fiumi di champagne! In realtà era tutto vero.

Una gran bella festa, indimenticabile… il mio grande amico Zucchero venne a trascorrere qualche giorno da noi a Porto Rotondo, non avrei mai voluto chiedergli di cantare, non amo approfittare dell’amicizia, a metà serata fu Zucchero stesso che mi disse “Roberto, mi piacerebbe cantare in una festa così speciale… è una serata meravigliosa!”

Un altro gran bel ricordo… qualche anno dopo… Lionel Richie è nostro ospite… un mito della musica. Ci siamo divertiti tutta la sera a fare duetti cantando anche canzoni italiane… diversi ospiti si sono esibiti con Lionel! Serate indimenticabili!

Dopo ogni festa dovevamo contarci le ferite! Era diventata un’abitudine che ogni ospite portasse con sé un ricordo… credo che molti degli ospiti hanno cuscini Cavalli nelle loro case… tanti bei ricordi dell’estate!

Faccio tesoro di questi ricordi e li offro a ognuno di voi, perché vi voglio bene, perché la vostra ammirazione è la fonte della mia creatività!

49. Congratulations Ms. Sozzani!
Franca Sozzani is the editor of Vogue Italy. Today, March 14, she was honored by the President of the French Republic with the “Chevalier de Legion d’Honneur”. It is a major award given, in this case, for an outstanding contribution to the World of Fashion!

I had the honor of having been personally invited by Franca Sozzani. At the ceremony the medal presentation was made by President Sarkozy. The ceremony was preceded by a dinner hosted by the Italian Ambassador in the beautiful Italian Embassy in Paris. It was attended by Italian and foreign designers who offered praise on a special day to a special woman! We spent an hour in greetings, photos and interviews.

Luncheon was served in a salon ornamented with frescoes, gilded frames and windows through which we had a view of the magnificent park that surrounds the Embassy.

The seats were assigned and I was lucky enough to be near a person whom I really admire – one of the greatest photographers in the world – Peter Lindbergh.

The luncheon was interesting and thoroughly enjoyable. The fashion world people intrigued me… I looked around… almost as if this world were not my own… I sometimes feel alien to it… why, I do not know… perhaps because I try to avoid its jealousy and gossip…

The Ceremony

Time to go home to change… dark jacket, dark shirt with black tie… Very elegant! With all this black my hair looks whiter!

Back in the car for the ride to the Élysée Palace. I do not hide the fact that I felt somewhat emotional. The residence of the President of the French Republic had opened its gates to me at last. I had always admired it from the outside, now I can finally visit and shake hands with President Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni.

All the rooms were large Louis XV style. I enjoyed admiring the various ornaments on the framing the salons. The excitement increased and then, after a long presentation speech the President honored Franca Sozzani with the beautiful medal.

After the ceremony, we all rushed to shake hands and kiss Franca. At that moment I wanted to be alone with her, hug her and express my great esteem and friendship.
Well, a long day but very very interesting.

49. Congratulazioni Signora Sozzani!
Franca Sozzani è la direttrice di Vogue Italia. Oggi, 14 Marzo, è stata insignita dal presidente della Repubblica Francese “Chevalier de Legion D’Honneur”. La maggiore onorificenza della Repubblica Francese che Franca Sozzani ha ricevuto per il suo contributo al Mondo della Moda.

Ho avuto l’onore di essere stato invitato personalmente da Franca Sozzani. Alla cerimonia la consegna della medaglia è stata effettuata da parte del Presidente Sarkozy. La cerimonia è stata preceduta da un pranzo offerto dall’Ambasciatore italiano nella meravigliosa sede dell’Ambasciata d’Italia a Parigi. Stilisti italiani e stranieri erano presenti per onorare una donna speciale in un giorno speciale! Ci siamo intrattenuti quasi un’ora tra saluti, foto e interviste.

Abbiamo consumato il pranzo in un salone affrescato con cornici dorate e grandi vetrate che si affacciano sul magnifico parco che circonda l’Ambasciata.

Un tavolo centrale per Franca Sozzani, ai suoi lati, l’Ambasciatore italiano e il presidente di Conde Nast. I posti erano assegnati ed ho avuto la fortuna di essere vicino a una persona che stimo molto – uno tra i più grandi fotografi al mondo – Peter Lindbergh.

Pranzo interessante e piacevole. Il mondo del pianeta moda m’incuriosiva… mi guardavo intorno… quasi, come non fosse il mio… talvolta mi ci sento estraneo… il perché, non lo so… forse perché cerco di essere al di fuori delle gelosie, dei pettegolezzi…

The Ceremony

Il tempo di rientrare a casa per cambiarmi… giacca da cerimonia camicia scura con cravatta nera… Elegantissimo!
Con tutto questo nero i miei capelli sembrano più bianchi!

Di nuovo in auto per correre all’Eliseo. Non vi nascondo che un po’ di emozione la provavo. La residenza del presidente della Repubblica Francese mi aveva aperto finalmente i cancelli. L’avevo sempre ammirata dall’esterno, oggi potrò finalmente visitarla e stringere la mano al presidente Sarkozy e a sua moglie Carla Bruni.

Tutte le grandi sale erano in stile Luigi XV. Mi ha divertito ammirare i vari fregi sulle cornici. L’emozione è aumentata quando, dopo un lungo discorso di presentazione, il Presidente ha onorato Franca Sozzani della splendida medaglia.

Finita la cerimonia, ci siamo tutti precipitati a stringere la mano e a baciare Franca. In quel momento avrei desiderato essere solo con lei, abbracciarla forte per dimostrarle tutta la mia stima e amicizia.
Bene, una giornata lunga ma particolarmente interessante.
