48. I’m on the plane, my destination is Paris!
I was invited by Vogue Italy to a very important event for Italian fashion and for my dear friend Franca Sozzani, who today will be awarded the title of “Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur” by French President Nicholas Sarkozy.
In the coming days I will tell you the details of the beautiful ceremony and the emotion I felt in attending this event. The ceremony will be held at the Élysée Palace, the famous residence of the French President Nicholas Sarkozy. Also I will meet the President’s beautiful wife, Carla Bruni with whom I will discuss my creations.
How beautiful Paris is…!
I’m so excited to be back here. I can enjoy my little apartment on the Ile de Saint Louis. I have already described my hideaway in Paris in my post number two. You can read about it there.
I rent a tiny Smart car and I drive around Paris like a Parisian. I know this city so well I feel I own it and its unmistakable charm! For many Paris is the Eiffel Tower, for me Paris is the capital of the Haute Couture, where you can feel the charm and glamor in every corner.
The most beautiful and chic shops are located on the Rue Saint-Honoré. The Roberto Cavalli boutique is at number 261, Rue Saint-Honoré, where it occupies all five floors of this beautiful building that dominates the other great shops like Chanel and Hermes.

I arrive… now I have to climb five storeys of stairs to reach my little corner of paradise where my fatigue will be cancelled…!

48. Sono in aereo, la mia meta è Parigi!
Sono stato invitato da Vogue Italia a un evento molto importante per la moda italiana e per la mia carissima amica Franca Sozzani che oggi sarà insignita del titolo di “Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur” dal presidente della Repubblica francese Nicholas Sarkozy.
Nei prossimi giorni vi racconterò i dettagli della bella cerimonia e dell’emozione provata nel presenziare a quest’evento. La cerimonia si terrà all’Eliseo, la famosa residenza del presidente della Repubblica francese Nicholas Sarkozy. Incontrerò anche la bella moglie del Presidente, Carla Bruni con cui avrò modo di parlare delle mie creazioni.

Sono così eccitato di essere di nuovo qui e potermi godere il mio piccolo appartamento sull’Ile de Saint Louis. Vi ho già descritto il mio rifugio parigino nel mio post numero due. Lo potete rileggere qui.
Ho noleggiato una piccola Smart e mi muovo per Parigi come un parigino. Mi piace sentirmi padrone di questa città dal fascino inconfondibile! Per molti di voi Parigi è soprattutto la torre Eiffel, per me Parigi è la capitale dell’Alta Moda, dove fascino e glamour si respirano in ogni angolo.
I negozi più belli e chic si trovano in Rue Saint-Honoré .
Il negozio di Roberto Cavalli si trova al numero 261 di questa bella strada, dove occupa tutti e cinque i piani di questo bel palazzo che domina gli altri bellissimi negozi come Chanel e Hermes.

40. A Special Day!
To feel important amuses me. When I returned to the hotel I rested for more than two hours. In three hours time I have to be at the Cavalli Club. The red carpet… lots of pictures… alone and with Elisa… hate it when they give me a time to be somewhere and meet someone with whom I have to be photographed… claustrophobia… don’t like being caught up with this sense of obligation…!
You see? You begin to know me and, who knows, one day you will find me obnoxious!
We went to a great French restaurant before going to the Club.
The prices in the restaurants here make you think you are hallucinating. Today there were only six of us yet we spent over a thousand euros. Yesterday was even worse. We had dinner at a good Chinese restaurant where we spent twelve hundred euros for four people and the red wine was not particularly special!
I know what you’re thinking, they recognize Mr. Cavalli and charge me double! Maybe you’re right, better not think about it!
Red Carpet, the limo stops in front of the Cavalli Club, hundreds of beautiful people are waiting for me. Lots of them are wearing Cavalli in my honor. When I get out I do as Berlusconi does, I try to close my jacket so as not to show the love handles!
There are many microphones to record my impressions of Dubai and the latest news on my fashion. Many questions about choosing Elisa for my perfume campaign and what I think of the great beauty of Arab woman.
And then… many, many, many pictures! Serious, smiling, aggressive, ridiculous, a bit of everything!

The entrance to the Club is crowded… it’s hard to get to my table in the VIP area of the Club… slightly secluded… a bit boring!
I react immediately… get a bunch of couches together in the center of the room… like to be surrounded… like to feel the friendship… fans… admirers!
Beside me sits the son of a sheik surrounded by ten beautiful and young women from the East. He expresses his friendship by sending me a bottle of Cristal every ten minutes. He kindly invites us to dinner, but I don’t yet know what my plans are.
I take the microphone and say hello to all those who are showing me their warmth and friendship. I try not to drink a glass too much so as to be always fully aware of what is happening around me!
A fun evening! I really enjoyed it.

40. Un Giorno Speciale!
Sentirmi importante mi diverte. Quando sono rientrato in Hotel mi sono riposato per più di due ore. Fra tre ore dobbiamo essere al Cavalli Club per il tappeto rosso, tante foto da solo e con Elisa!
Odio questi obblighi, quando mi danno orari da rispettare e mi dicono con chi mi devo fotografare. Ho un attacco al mio senso di claustrofobia! Non mi devo sentire mai obbligato a niente.
Avete visto? Incominciate a conoscermi, e chissà, un giorno vi diventerò anche antipatico!
Siamo andati in un ottimo ristorante francese prima di andare al Club. Qui i prezzi dei ristoranti sono allucinanti, oggi in sei abbiamo speso oltre mille euro. Ieri è andata molto peggio, abbiamo cenato in un buon ristorante cinese e in quattro persone, con un vino rosso non particolarmente speciale, abbiamo speso 1200 euro!
So cosa state pensando, vedono Cavalli e mi fanno spendere il doppio! Forse avete ragione, meglio non pensarci!
Red Carpet, arrivo con la limousine davanti al Cavalli Club, centinaia di persone mi stanno aspettando, belle, bellissime. Tantissime vestono Cavalli in mio onore.
Scendendo dalla limousine ho fatto come Berlusconi, ho cercato di chiudermi il doppiopetto per non far vedere la pancetta!!
Tanti microfoni che registrano le mie impressioni su Dubai e le ultime notizie sulla mia moda. Molte domande sulla scelta di Elisa per la campagna pubblicitaria del profumo e su cosa ne penso della bellezza delle donne arabe.
Dopo, tante, tante, tante foto! Serio, sorridente, aggressivo, ridicolo, un po’ di tutto!

L’ingresso al Club non è stato facile per via di tutte le persone all’ingresso. E’ stato difficile raggiungere il mio tavolo nella zona VIP del Club, leggermente appartata e un po’ noiosa.
Ho reagito immediatamente e mi sono fatto organizzare un gruppetto di divani nel centro del locale, mi piace essere circondato da coloro che mi ammirano e mi dimostrano la loro simpatia.
Accanto a me siede il figlio di uno sceicco, circondato da dieci bellissime e giovanissime ragazze dell’Est. Ha cercato la mia simpatia e amicizia inviandomi ogni dieci minuti una bottiglia di Cristal. Questa sera ci ha invitato a cena, ma non conosco ancora i nostri programmi.
Mi sono fatto dare un microfono e ho salutato tutti i fans.
Durante la serata ho cercato di non bere un bicchiere di troppo per essere sempre cosciente di ciò che mi succedeva intorno!
Una serata divertente! Io mi sono veramente divertito.

39. I opened my eyes a few minutes ago. I shower, brush my teeth, and cream my face. This will make you smile but I take great care of my skin. I’m not afraid of dying, but I do not like to look vecchiooooooo! [ooooold!]
I open the large drapes that cover the big windows letting me see the white beaches and the slice of sea that stretches in front of Dubai.
To my left, so many buildings, almost all of them high, round, square, glass, steel!
Below me, I can see the large pool of my hotel, a favorite of Gabriele, my grandson. He loves the water, and when Christiana sits him down where the water is shallow he begins to scream with joy…!
Fantastic screams, as if to attract attention and to share his joy with us all! I LOVE IT!
So my day starts. I have nothing special scheduled. Yesterday was very busy so today I deserve a day of rest.
Before I begin to tell you of my adventures, I will award myself an Oscar as a great showman.
I want to start my day by dedicating a thought to a truly great artist who has left us – Lucio Dalla. One of the great musicians, everyone’s favorite! All of Italy is crying and I join them.
For many non-Italians who do not know his name, I would like to recall his most famous song sold all over the world “Caruso”.
So I will tell you my stories. I told you that I am a great actor and I have to tell you everything so that you too can feel the moment!
Stretch Limo
At 11 o’clock an incredibly long black stretch limo was waiting for me.
That’s cool! The interior was lit by green, red and blue lights projected as colored stars.
I arrived at the Roberto Cavalli shop in Dubai, one of the many around the world, but this is the largest and most beautiful!
About 50 journalists from the Arab countries who specialize in beauty are waiting!
I am received with great applause, making me feel important. This welcome pomps up my adrenaline.
The store was closed to the public and decorated for the occasion to highlight the launch of a new Cavalli fragrance.
Bottles of perfume of all sizes, large, medium and some deliciously micro mini enough to keep in your purse.
The press conference begins, the President Mr.Coty together with their President for the Arab countries, the model Elisa who starred in the campaign and me, Roberto Cavalli!
Before us are 50 seats for a 50 qualified journalists.
They give me the program and, as is customary, the introduction was not up to me as I was the guest.

I was amused to overcome and go beyond the formalities!
When I took the microphone it was with the desire to transform two hours, that would have been boring, into something fun. It proved a resounding success and the press conference was also a great success!
Eventually the journalists took turns with their questions, they were all young women from the Arabian Gulf!
I was pleased to see in their eyes the pleasure of speaking with me and this sensation pushed me to intensify my gallantry and show the charm of the Italian man!
I built my ideas as I spoke, I created, I tried to make sense and give a different meaning to my perfume. Eighteen months of hard work vent into for this fragrance. Coty gave me 30 small vials and i travelled the world testing it on all my friends, great Stars of film and music.
Their help was very important for the final choice of THE WINNER! The final sample!

I created a perfume. Women young and old will apply it after their shower and scent their bodies for the whole day.
My perfume – the scent of your skin – CHOSEN BY YOU, and recommended by your man! A natural scent a little sweet a little sour but subtle! My perfume will help every woman tighten that bond and conquer the one she desires!
This was the conference and my presentation to introduce my new creation… the Cavalli perfume to expand female sensibilities in Arab countries!

39. Ho aperto gli occhi da pochi minuti, doccia, pulizia dei denti, una crema per il giorno… Vi farà sorridere, ma ho molta cura della mia pelle, in realtà non ho paura di morire ma non mi piace apparire vecchiooooooo!
Apro le grandi tende che coprono le ampie vetrate che si affacciano sulle spiagge bianchissime e su una fetta di mare che si estende davanti a Dubai.
Alla mia sinistra, tanti palazzi, quasi tutti altissimi, tondi, quadrati, a vetri, in acciaio!
Sotto di me, posso vedere la grande piscina del mio albergo, il luogo preferito da Gabriele, il mio nipotino. Adora l’acqua. Quando Cristiana lo mette seduto dove l’acqua è bassa, incomincia a urlare… di gioia!
Urla fantastiche, come se volesse attirare l’attenzione e condividere la sua gioia con tutti noi! LO ADORO!
Bene, la mia giornata ha inizio, non ho programmi speciali, solo riposo. Me lo merito poiché ieri è stata una giornata molto attiva.
Prima di iniziare a raccontarvi delle mie avventure e autoconsegnarmi un Oscar come grande attore, voglio iniziare la mia giornata unendomi a tutta l’Italia dedicando un pensiero a Lucio Dalla, un Grande Artista che ci ha lasciato.
Un grandissimo della musica, il preferito da tutti!
Per molti non italiani che non conoscono il suo nome, desidero ricordare la sua canzone più conosciuta in tutto il mondo “Caruso”.
Vi ho detto che sono un grande attore e devo raccontarvi tutto per farvi sentire partecipi!
Stretch Limo
Alle undici una stretch limousine nera, incredibilmente lunga, mi aspettava davanti al mio albergo. Che figata! L’interno era illuminato da lucine verdi, rosse, blu e stelline colorate provenienti da un proiettore.
Sono arrivato al negozio Roberto Cavalli di Dubai, sinceramente uno dei tanti, ma questo è il più grande e il più bello!
Ad attendermi circa cinquanta giornalisti della stampa specializzata in beauty dei paesi Arabi! Mi hanno ricevuto con un grande applauso, mi hanno fatto sentire importante. Quest’accoglienza ha incominciato a far bollire la mia adrenalina.
Il negozio era chiuso al pubblico per l’occasione e allestito per evidenziare il lancio del nuovo profumo Cavalli. Bottiglie di profumo di ogni dimensione grandi, medie e la piccolissima mini, deliziosa da tenere nella borsetta.
La conferenza stampa incomincia, erano presenti il presidente di Coty, la responsabile della distribuzione nei paesi Arabi e la modella Elisa Sednaoui e… Roberto Cavalli!
Davanti a noi cinquanta poltroncine per altrettanti giornalisti della stampa specializzata. Poiché ero l’ospite, non spettava a me iniziare, come da prassi in queste occasioni.

Mi ha divertito superare e oltrepassare le formalità!
Ho preso il microfono con il desiderio di trasformare le due ore che avrebbero dovuto essere noiose in qualche cosa di divertente. Ci sono riuscito in pieno e la conferenza stampa ha avuto un grande successo!
Alla fine i giornalisti si sono alternati con le domande. Erano tutte ragazze arabe del Golfo! Mi divertiva vedere nei loro occhi il piacere di parlare con me e questa mia sensazione mi spingeva ad accentuare la mia galanteria e mostrare il fascino dell’uomo italiano!
Costruivo le mie idee mentre parlavo, creavo, cercavo di dare un senso e un significato diverso al mio profumo, diciotto mesi di studio solo per questa fragranza.
Coty mi ha consegnato trenta piccoli flaconcini che ho portato in giro per il mondo e ho fatto testare a tutte le mie amiche, grandi Stars del cinema e della musica.
Il loro aiuto è stato molto importante per la scelta finale di THE WINNER!! Il campione finale!
