32. First day in Milan, I was missing Italy the way I now miss Florence, my cat “Pussy” my parrot “Gold”, my monkey “Mac”, an 8 year old macaque.
I’ll have to tell you a separate story of all my animals. Today I will show you their photos and next time I will tell you about their lives and their habits.
I will amuse you and let you love the animals as I love them.
Lupo came to the airport to meet me, I guarantee you that it was very moving!

He was so excited to see me that he jumped on me yelping, crying with joy!
At home, Rosa, a tiny Yorkshire was waiting for me. She has a beautiful natural coat that reaches to the ground, all black with a head that fades to gray-beige.

A very rare color that makes her special. Sandra has made her a bow to keep her hair out of her eyes! Lupo and Rose are engaged, and I guarantee you that their love is platonic! Lupo weighs 50 kilos and Rosa only 2 kilos. I’ll have to make a film of them when they are fighting for a bone and put it on You Tube!

My apartment in Milan is a fun place. It is a large studio apartment that I divided with artistic glass screens, a computer table with mega monitors and a printer able to print my photos in various sizes!

Two giant pictures of my trip to the South Pole stand out on a wall of glass that separates the living room from the bedroom.

A round bed with a mega TV in front and many, many plush stuffed animals. It looks like the bedroom of a child.
I had a giant teddy bear made with real fur – my usual madness!
My zoo keeps me company – stuffed animals of all kinds all around me!

I live in the so-called fashion quarter a few meters from my boutique.
During Fashion Week it is not easy for me to leave home. I get mobbed by friendly fans of many nationalities who shop along this very important road famed for the most beautiful boutiques in Milan!

I try to be kind to all the people who ask me for a photo. There are so many of them. I often wonder what they do with all of the photos. Are there a thousand photos of me on Facebook?

Dear friends, tomorrow my fashion week starts. It will be a week of emotion and fatigue. I’m already nervous.

Every six months I have my exam with a great desire to pass with flying colors!

To create fashion and propose fashion is particularly difficult at this time. The young and the not-so-young know what they want. When I create I have to think about their desires!

Fashion is in the air, I have to capture it and make dreams a reality.

Fashion should make you dream!

32. Primo giorno a Milano, mi mancava l’Italia, come adesso mi manca Firenze, la mia gattina Pussy il mio pappagallo Oro, e Mac, il mio scimmiotto, un macaco di 8 anni.
Dovrò dedicare un racconto a parte per parlarvi di tutti i miei animali, oggi ve li presento in foto ma la prossima volta vi racconterò la loro vita e le loro abitudini.
Vi farò divertire e amare gli animali come li amo io!

Lupo è venuto a prendermi all’aeroporto. Vi garantisco che era commovente!
Era talmente eccitato di vedermi che, mentre mi saltava addosso, guaiva come se piangesse di gioia! A casa mi aspettava Rosa, una minuscola Yorkshire, bellissima, con un lungo pelo meraviglioso che le arriva fino ai piedi, tutta nera con la testina che sfuma al grigio-beige.

Un colore molto raro che la rende speciale, Sandra le fa un fiocchino sulla testa per liberarla dai peli sugli occhi!
Lupo e Rosa sono fidanzati, vi garantisco che e un amore platonico!
Lupo pesa 50 kili e Rosa solo 2. Quando litigano per qualche osso sono veramente buffi, devo fare un film e metterlo su Youtube!

Il mio appartamento a Milano è molto divertente, è un grande monolocale che ho diviso con vetri, paraventi, tavoli con computer, mega schermi e stampanti con cui stampo le mie foto in ogni dimensione!

Due foto giganti del mio viaggio al Polo Sud fanno spicco su una grande vetrata che divide la mia camera dal soggiorno.

Un gande letto tondo con davanti un mega televisore e tanti, tanti, peluche. Sembra la camera di un bambino. Ho fatto fare un orsacchiotto gigante in vera pelliccia, una delle mie solite follie!

Tutto intorno ci sono animaletti di ogni tipo, il mio zoo di peluche mi fa compagnia!

Abito nel cosiddetto quadrilatero della moda, a pochi metri dalla mia Boutique.
In questi giorni, durante la Settimana della Moda, non mi è facile uscire di casa, vengo semi-assalito da fan di nazionalità diverse che passeggiano per lo shopping in questa strada che ospita i negozi più belli di Milano!

Cerco di essere gentile con tutte le persone che mi chiedono una foto, sono veramente tante. Spesso mi chiedo cosa se ne fanno di tutte queste foto, credo di essere su Facebook con migliaia di foto!

Cari amici, domani incomincerà la mia settimana della moda, una settimana di emozioni e di stanchezza. Sono già nervoso.

Ogni sei mesi ho il mio esame! Il mio grande desiderio è di essere promosso a pieni voti!

Fare moda e proporre moda è particolarmente difficile in questo momento.
Giovani e meno giovani sanno cosa desiderano e quando creo, devo pensare ai loro desideri!

La moda è nell’aria, la devo percepire, devo concretizzare i sogni.
La moda deve far sognare!

31. I open my eyes. I’m half rested.
Sleeping on the plane is not easy, even though my plane, I-WISH, is soundproofed. The engine noise is always buzzing in your head.
Last night, before falling asleep, I put on the headphones connected to my iPhone and beautiful music accompanied me gently into dreamland!

I look outside and it’s still dark. It is 7am in Italy. I pause to watch the light appearing quickly upon the horizon.
The blue cobalt of the sky is softened into a Caribbean Sea blue. A purple stripe on the horizon turns red, then pink, then soft orange.
The sea blue of the sky is above us and the white of emptiness lies below us. It seems that the world or the plane is upside down!

A good double espresso helped me wake up completely. I made the bed and did some cleaning before landing. Did I tell you that I don’t have a stewardess on board? I don’t like being served. I love to do almost everything myself!
Are you surprised? Like at my house in Milan or New York. There is just an very sweet Filipino cleaning Lady.

I like to cook, take care of my dogs, uncork and serve a good red Cavalli wine, the only thing I drink other than sparkling water!
Simple life? I wouldn’t describe my life as very difficult and complicated!

I rambled on speaking about my habits, but I am still on the plane, in a few minutes I shall land in Milan.
How wonderful! Through the window I can see the majesty of the Alps completely covered with snow. I take so many pictures, but it is impossible to capture the idea of that vast dimension of space in a single image.
The wonder is expressed by the broad vision of your eyes. Your view stretches to infinity and sends the emotions down to your heart!

A few more minutes and the wheels will touch down on the runway. I’m in Milan and soon Lupo will lick me!

31. Ho aperto gli occhi, semi-riposato.
Dormire in aereo non è facile, anche se il mio I-WISH è insonorizzato. Il rumore del motore ti ronza sempre in testa.
Ieri sera prima di addormentarmi mi sono messo gli auricolari collegati al mio iPhone, una bella musica mi ha accompagnato dolcemente nel mondo dei sogni!

Ho aperto la tendina che copre l’oblò è ancora semibuio, in Italia sono le sette.
Mi soffermo a guardare la luce che appare velocemente all’orizzonte.
Il blu cobalto del cielo si addolcisce fino ad arrivare a un blu simile al mar dei Caraibi. Una striscia viola all’orizzonte si trasforma in rosso, poi in rosa, poi in un tenue arancio.
Il blu del cielo color del mare mi sovrasta e sotto di me il bianco del vuoto… Sembra che il mondo o l’aereo si siano capovolti!

Un buon doppio espresso mi sveglia completamente, cerco di sistemare il letto e faccio un po’ di pulizie prima dell’atterraggio. Non vi avevo ancora detto che non ho una hostess a bordo. Non mi piace farmi servire, amo fare quasi tutto da solo!
Vi meraviglia, ma è quasi la stessa cosa nelle mie case di Milano e New York. Solo una dolcissima filippina per rifarmi la camera.

Mi piace cucinare, accudire i cani, stappare e servirmi un buon vino rosso Cavalli, l’unica cosa che bevo oltre all’acqua minerale gassata!
Vita semplice? Non direi, tutta la mia vita è molto difficile e complicata!

Ho divagato parlandovi delle mie abitudini, ma sono ancora in aereo, fra pochi minuti atterrerò a Milano.
Che meraviglia! Dall’oblò vedo le Alpi, completamente innevate, tante volte ho provato a fare delle foto, ma è impossibile rendere l’idea con un’immagine che limita la dimensione. La meraviglia è espressa dalla larga visione dei tuoi occhi, la tua vista spazia l’infinito e ti trasmette l’emozione al cuore!

Pochi minuti e le ruote toccano la pista, sono a Milano, presto sarò leccatissimo da Lupo! Da Milano vi racconterò le avventure delle mie sfilate!

Here in New York the Stars are more important than the designers. The camera flashes are all for them.
As it is Milan so it is Paris, the only difference been for Italian and French designers having a Star in the front row at our show can be absurdly expensive, with private plane (depending on importance) hotel and cachet all sky high.
Only the big names like Gucci and Louis Vuitton can afford the big Stars!
In New York it is different. The costs are lower and the Top Models require a cachet that is half of what it is expected in Italy! I’ve never understood why!
The Stars in America are best friends with the designers.They live like neighbors in the same city.

The most seen Star at the NY Fashion week was Jessica Alba.
Matt Damon was at the Mark Jacobs show.
Leighton Meester, Natalie Portman, Ivanka Trump and Adriana Lima were present at many shows.

I met Uma Thurman at the Narciso Rodriguez fashion show, she embraced me with great sympathy and friendship.
I invited her to my show in Milan.
She said that she was busy shooting a fantastic movie, promising that I shall really like it. “I’m sure” I replied reciprocating her sweet embrace!

I would like to share with many details of a small pre-dinner party last night.
I’m not a writer so do not feel up to being able to describe every detail.
Sure, I wanted to have my camera with me to catch the simpatiche follie (sympathetic follies) of fashion.

I never understood why so many young designers, especially Americans, dress themselves up so absurdly in an effort to to bring out their personality style!
I find it amusing and sometimes a little degrading for the fashion world to which they belong!

In a few days the great zoos of fashion will moved to Milan.
Two main dates the first Friday 24 JUST CAVALLI and then Monday 27 ROBERTO CAVALLI.

I’ll be a star, I’ll play my part and the fear of not being up to what the fashion world expects of me is great!

Only your warmth and affection give me so much creativity…

Qui a New York le Stars sono più importanti dei designers, i flash sono tutti per loro.
Come a Milano e Parigi, con la sola differenza che a noi stilisti italiani o francesi avere una Star in prima fila al nostro show costa una cifra assurda. Viaggio in aereo privato (dipende dall’importanza), hotel e un cachet spesso alto.
Solo i grandi nomi come Gucci e Louis Vuitton si possono permettere le grandi Stars!

A New York è diverso, i costi sono più contenuti e anche le modelle, le Top Model sfilano con un cachet dimezzato rispetto all’Italia! Non ne ho mai compresa la ragione! Le Stars in America sono grandi amiche dei designers, vivono nella stessa città e quindi è rutto più facile.

Ho incontrato Uma Thurman al défilé di Narciso Rodriguez, mi ha abbracciato con molta simpatia e amicizia. L’ho invitata al mio show a Milano, mia ha risposto che è impegnatissima in un film fantastico, mi ha promesso che mi piacerà molto . “NE SONO CERTO” le ho risposto contraccambiando il suo dolcissimo abbraccio!

Vorrei raccontarvi con tanti particolari di un piccolo party pre-dinner di ieri sera.
Non sono uno scrittore e non mi sento all’altezza per potervi descrivere in modo adeguato ogni dettaglio. Certo, avrei voluto avere con me una macchina da presa per riprendere le simpatiche follie della moda.

Non ho mai capito perché molti giovani designers, specialmente americani, per evidenziare la loro personalità stilistica, si vestono o si acconciano in maniera assurda! Lo trovo divertente, ma spesso degradante per il mondo al quale appartengo !

Fra pochi giorni il grande zoo della moda si trasferisce a Milano, per ben due volte, prima venerdì 24 con JUST CAVALLI e poi lunedì 27 con ROBERTO CAVALLI.

Sarò un protagonista, reciterò la mia parte e il timore di non essere all’altezza di quanto il mondo della moda si aspetta da me è grande!

Solo il vostro calore e affetto mi danno tanta creatività…
