89.Cannes is waiting for me!

Cannes Film Festival! In fact it is the festival of the desire to appear. It is the desire, once a year, to wear an evening gown in the early afternoon, often in the hot sun. Walking a red carpet… acclaimed by the photographers and the curious who, even if they do not know who you are, want to scream… you want to feel beautiful for a few minutes… want to look popular!

A delusion you enjoy from morning until late at night. At the Cannes’ carnival, without masks or floats, the stars are the attractions, big or small, known or almost unknown. These days, even if you only make it as an extra in a movie, they ask you for an autograph!

Many people walk on the red carpet for any movie. Then they do not even go to the movie theater. They are only there to appear on a movie or a fashion website.
It’s impossible to cross the city – complete chaos! Hundreds of people crowd the entrances of major hotels in the hope of seeing a celebrity. Kisses, kisses, kisses, greetings, hugs and big smiles!

If you are beautiful and famous, Cannes welcomes you and cheers you. If you cannot feel beautiful and recognizable it may be better to stay home to watch TV and dream!

I arrive at my big boat… so many friends are waiting for me… they all feel my absence. I always manage to convey the desire to organize something special. I check who are my boat’s neighbors. These days, the harbor is one of the most important centers of attraction. Every evening, there are great dinners and mega parties. After the parades on the red carpet, the big stars are moving from boat to boat!

You must excuse me but I have to leave, Sharon Stone is just arriving. She is my guest and it is my pleasure to do the honors. Sharon will host an amfAR charity event to raise funds for children affected by AIDS in Africa. What a wonderful woman!

89.Cannes mi sta aspettando!

Festival del Cinema di Cannes! In realtà è il festival della voglia di apparire. È il desiderio, una volta l’anno, di indossare un abito da sera nel primo pomeriggio, spesso, sotto il sole cocente. Percorrere un tappeto rosso… acclamati da fotografi e curiosi… anche se non sanno chi sei… voglia di urlare… voglia di sentirsi belli per pochi minuti… voglia di apparire famosi!

Un delirio, dalla mattina fino a notte fonda, il carnevale di Cannes, senza maschere e carri, le attrazioni sono le star, grandi o piccole, conosciute o semisconosciute. In questi giorni, se hai fatto la comparsa in un film, ti chiedono l’autografo!

Molte persone fanno il tappeto rosso, per un film qualsiasi, senza poi recarsi nella sala cinematografica ma solo per apparire su qualche sito di cinema o di moda.
Impossibile attraversare la città, caos completo! Centinaia di persone affollano gli ingressi degli Hotels più importanti con la speranza di intravedere qualche attore famoso. Baci, baci, tanti baci, saluti, abbracci e grandi sorrisi!

Se sei bello e famoso, Cannes ti accoglie e ti acclama, se non sei bello e famoso, ti conviene guardare la televisione e sognare di essere bello!

Arrivo sulla mia barca, tanti amici mi stanno aspettando, tutti sentivano la mia mancanza. Riesco sempre a trasmettere la voglia di organizzare qualche cosa di speciale. M’informo su chi sono i vicini di barca. In questi giorni, il porto è uno dei centri di attrazione più importanti. Ogni sera, grandi cene e mega party. Dopo le sfilate sui tappeti rossi, le grandi star si muovono da una barca all’altra!

Mi dovete scusare ma vi devo lasciare, è arrivata Sharon Stone, è mia ospite e voglio fare gli onori di casa. Sharon presenterà una grande serata di beneficenza amfAR per la raccolta di fondi a favore dei bambini malati di AIDS in Africa. Che donna meravigliosa!

88. Creating special collections is increasingly difficult!

This afternoon I finished shooting the first part of the pre-collection JUST CAVALLI. By Monday there will be the official presentation to customers. I have already promised the sales office that I will be with them, personally presenting the collection to a select group of the best customers! I am very pleased! Rare words, in my mouth!

I am dedicated with a special passion to this collection and, while photographing, I was almost proud of myself.
I will be more so when we will present the collection late June.

A fresh, young, pre-collection that is my style! I love JUST CAVALLI in a special way. It’s my young line for young people who love me. I like giving them the chance to wear my own creations thanks to their more affordable prices.

JUST CAVALLI is like a child who has suffered a serious illness. My love and my creativity are the special medicines needed for the full enjoyment of good health!

JUST CAVALLI was the strongest brand in Italy along with D&G. JUST CAVALLI granted the license to a wonderful group in Isernia. It was already producing the young lines for Versace and other top designers. The sales grew, the brand acquired increasing importance, and the collections were always more beautiful. All this made me feel strong and capable. My adrenaline was sky high!

Something had to turn the wind! Bad investments, perhaps intentionally made, jeopardized ITR’s economic situation.

The administrator of ITR served his own interests before than those of the company’s thousands of employees who had grown the ITR with love and professionalism. The brand JUST CAVALLI suffered the consequences of the ITR’s liquidation!

For two seasons now, working with Renzo Rosso a great friend in the world of fashion, we are working to re-grow this legendary brand. Renzo, with his great business acumen and Roberto Cavalli with his creative ability!

88. Creare collezioni speciali è sempre più difficile!

Questo pomeriggio ho finito di fotografare la prima parte della pre-collezione JUST CAVALLI. Da lunedì ci sarà la presentazione ufficiale ai clienti. Ho già promesso all’ufficio commerciale che sarò con loro per presentare personalmente la collezione ai migliori clienti! Ho il coraggio di dire che sono soddisfatto! Parole che escono raramente dalla mia bocca!

Mi ci sono dedicato con una passione speciale e mentre scattavo le foto, ero quasi fiero di me stesso. E lo sarò maggiormente quando presenteremo la collezione a fine giugno.

Una pre-collezione fresca, giovane, che rappresenta il mio stile! Amo JUST CAVALLI in maniera speciale. È la mia linea giovane, per i giovani che mi amano. Mi piace offrire la possibilità di indossare una mia creazione con un prezzo più accessibile.

JUST CAVALLI è come un figlio che ha sofferto per una grave malattia, il mio amore e la mia creatività sono le medicine speciali per farlo rinascere!

JUST CAVALLI era il marchio più forte in Italia insieme a D&G. La linea JUST CAVALLI era stata data in licenza a un gruppo di Isernia che produceva già le linee giovani per Versace e altri grandi stilisti. Le vendite crescevano, il marchio acquisiva sempre più importanza e le collezioni erano sempre più belle. Tutto questo mi faceva sentire forte e capace, la mia adrenalina era alle stelle!

Qualche cosa fece girare il vento! Investimenti sbagliati, forse volutamente, misero in severa difficolta finanziaria la ITR.

L’amministratore della ITR pensò ai propri interessi e non ai mille dipendenti che avevano fatto crescere la ITR con amore e professionalità. Il marchio JUST CAVALLI, gestito in licenza dall’ITR, ha quindi subito tutte le problematiche di una società in liquidazione!

Da due stagioni grazie anche all’aiuto di Renzo Rosso, un grande amico e un bravo imprenditore, stiamo lavorando per far rinascere questo mitico marchio che è JUST CAVALLI. Renzo, con la sua grande capacità imprenditoriale e Roberto Cavalli con sua capacita creativa!

87. That Special Dinner…

Monday was Daniele’s birthday. Surely something has gone awry, we wanted to celebrate his birthday, but his mood was not the best. He preferred to spend the evening in his small apartment listening to his favorite music…
I understand him. It is not because another year has passed. I have had a similar feeling all my life!

Yesterday afternoon, Daniele called me to invite me out for dinner. Just the two of us – a tete-a-tete between father and son! How nice! It made me happy, the invitation was more of a gift for me than for him! He booked the best restaurant in Florence, probably the best in Italy – the Enoteca Pinchiorri! Daniele had never been there before and he wanted me to share the excitement of this experience with him!

I have known Giorgio Pinchiorri since I was a young playboy and Giorgio was the sommelier at a well known Florentine restaurant, Buca Lapi. Later, Giorgio and his wife started this adventure in good food and fine dining. From the very beginning the Enoteca Pinchiorri has proven to be a gourmet restaurant. They soon realized their dream of acquiring forks in the Michelin Guide. I have followed their success with pleasure. A story of love and passion for good food. From time to time I have encountered them in restaurants around the world, in constant pursuit of new flavors, seeking to unravel the secrets of other cuisines, which they could transfer into their own unique dishes with characteristic love and expertise.

It has been many years since I first visited the Enoteca Pinchiorri. The warmth of Giorgio’s greeting sent me on a trip down memory lane. It was in this restaurant that I had a dinner with Eva for the very first time.

A corner table guarding our privacy! Nouvelle Cuisine! The real one… the right one… that special one… fifteen, twenty small dishes with fine artwork. Unique dishes, created by those who love cooking so much that it has become their mission in life. A cuisine that has its roots in Art. The same Art that you can “breathe” on every corner in Florence!

Each dish was accompanied by a perfect wine. Two white… a young red Tuscan… a red Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1986… incredible wines! I cannot describe the delight and the quality of the desserts, I would make your mouth water.

Enoteca Pinchiorri

After dinner, Giorgio Pinchiorri accompanied us on a tour of the wine cellar. It could be called the Wine Museum, a masterpiece! Managed by a sophisticated system of temperature and humidity control which is crucial to preserve this wonderful heritage of nature!

An unforgettable evening. Daniele was wonderful. He listened to the confidences I shared with him about my past. I liked seeing the curiosity in his eyes!

87. Che Cena Speciale…

Lunedi era il compleanno di Daniele. Sicuramente qualcosa è andato di traverso, avremmo voluto festeggiarlo, ma il suo mood non era dei migliori. Ha preferito trascorrere la serata nel suo piccolo appartamento ad ascoltare la sua musica preferita…
Quanto lo capisco. Non è l’anno che passa, questa sensazione mi ha accompagnato per tutta la vita!

Ieri pomeriggio, Daniele mi ha chiamato per invitarmi a cena. Soltanto noi due, un tete-a-tete tra padre e figlio! Che bello! Mi ha reso felicissimo, questo invito è stato più un regalo per me che per lui! Ha prenotato il miglior ristorante di Firenze, probabilmente il migliore in Italia, l’Enoteca Pinchiorri! Daniele non c’era mai stato e desiderava provare questa emozione con me!

Conosco Giorgio Pinchiorri da quando ero un giovane playboy fiorentino e Giorgio era il sommelier in un noto ristorante fiorentino, Buca Lapi. In seguito, Giorgio e la moglie hanno iniziato l’avventura della buona cucina. Fin dall’inizio l’Enoteca Pinchiorri ha dimostrato di essere un ristorante speciale. Il loro sogno di acquisire forchette sulla guida Michelin si è presto avverato. Ho seguito con piacere il loro successo. Una storia di amore e passione per la buona cucina. Li ho talvolta incontrati in qualche ristorante in giro per il mondo nella costante ricerca di nuovi sapori, a carpire i segreti delle altre cucine e trasferirli in piatti unici con esperienza e amore.

Erano molti anni che non tornavo all’Enoteca Pinchiorri. L’accoglienza di Giorgio mi ha fatto fare un tuffo nel passato. In questo ristorante sono stato a cena con Eva per la prima volta.

Un tavolino d’angolo custodiva la nostra privacy! Nouvelle Cuisine! Quella vera… quella giusta… quella speciale… quindici, venti piccoli assaggi con decorazioni artistiche. Piatti unici, creati da chi ama la cucina tanto da farne la propria missione. Una cucina che trova le sue radici nell’arte. Quella stessa arte che a Firenze si “respira” a ogni angolo!

Ogni portata era accompagnata da vini appropriati. Due bianchi… un rosso toscano giovane… un rosso Chateau Lafite Rothschild dell’86… vini incredibili! Non posso descrivervi la delizia e la qualità dei dolci, vi farei venire l’acquolina in bocca.

Enoteca Pinchiorri

Dopo cena, Giorgio Pinchiorri ci ha accompagnato a visitare la “cantina”. La chiamerei il Museo del Vino, un capolavoro! Gestita da un raffinato sistema per il controllo di temperatura e umidità, fondamentale per conservare questo meraviglioso patrimonio della natura!

Una serata indimenticabile. Daniele è stato stupendo, ha ascoltato le confidenze sul mio passato. Mi piaceva vedere la curiosità nei suoi occhi!

Spero di avervi fatto trascorrere una serata piacevole in nostra compagnia!
