323. Happy Birthday Ester!

We celebrated my granddaughter Ester’s birthday.

How quickly they grow! It seems that only yesterday I could hold her in my arms… I turned around for what seems like just a moment and she has already matured into a fine young lady!

Maybe it’s a cliché, but I have a feeling that today you grow faster than ever before… maybe it’s the Internet, or perhaps when you are young you have the feeling that time passes at a slower pace…

We should try to spend more time with our children and our grandchildren… these are the most precious moments that life gives us…

Tempus fugit, time flies, as the Latins said. Time runs fast and does not wait for us. It does not allow us the luxury of lingering and savouring those special moments in small sips, like a fine wine…

Every birthday at the Cavalli home turns into a big party! The little ones are in turmoil for several days… they cannot wait … it’s a great opportunity to gather together and celebrate!

I must confess that I look forward to these celebrations too… I like to celebrate these moments with my children and my grandchildren… these are the moments that fill my heart!

Now I cannot wait to celebrate the next birthday and, happily surrounded by so many children and grandchildren, I will not have long to wait!

323. Buon Compleanno Ester!

Abbiamo festeggiato il compleanno della mia nipotina Ester.

Come crescono veloci… mi sembra ieri quando la tenevo in braccio… mi sono girato un attimo ed è già diventata una signorina!

Forse è un luogo comune, ma ho l’impressione che oggi si cresca più velocemente di una volta… forse è Internet o forse quando si è giovani si ha la sensazione che il tempo scorra con ritmi più lenti…

Dobbiamo cercare di passare più tempo con i nostri figli e i nostri nipoti… questi sono i momenti più preziosi che la vita ci regala…

Tempus fugit, il tempo fugge, come dicevano i Latini. Il tempo corre veloce e non ci permette di indugiare e soffermarci assaporando quei momenti speciali a piccoli sorsi, come un buon vino…

Ogni compleanno a casa Cavalli si trasforma in una grande festa! I più piccoli sono in agitazione da diversi giorni… non vedono l’ora… è una grande occasione per ritrovarsi tutti insieme!

Io sono più impaziente di loro… mi piace festeggiare questi momenti con i miei figli e i miei nipoti… questi sono i momenti che riempiono il mio cuore!

Ora non vedo l’ora di festeggiare il prossimo compleanno e, felicemente circondato da tanti figli e nipoti, non dovrò aspettare a lungo!

322 Today I am in my office in Florence…322. Sono in Ufficio a Firenze…

322 Today I am in my office in Florence…

A full busy day at the office today… I might be working late tonight…

I am in Osmannoro, the location of the “Factory of Dreams”, as I like to call the Florentine headquarters of Roberto Cavalli.

Osmannoro is an area located outside the northern entrance to Florence, close to the airport and the highway. When the offices in the beautiful Piazza D’Azeglio in Florence became too small for our rate of growth, I chose to move the Cavalli Maison to Osmannoro, an area that was easily accessible to all and that had the potential to meet future growth.

When I look around I see that my office is full of objects that are part of my life… drawings, paintings, photos, objects that I have designed and furniture that I have selected to make this workplace an extension of my own home…

Here I have all that I need to create new collections, including the thousands of photos shot during my travels around the world…

Each image carries with it a multitude of feelings… of memories… have you ever looked at a picture and conjured up the scents and smells of that place? Sometimes I catch myself thinking about the capacity of our minds: in a fraction of a second we can connect, images, scents, sounds and emotions…

322. Sono in Ufficio a Firenze…

Una giornata piena d’impegni oggi in ufficio… mi sa che rientrerò a casa tardi…

Sono all’Osmannoro, la sede della “Fabbrica dei Sogni” come mi piace chiamare la sede fiorentina della Roberto Cavalli.

L’Osmannoro è una località che si trova all’ingresso di Firenze, vicina all’aeroporto e all’uscita dell’autostrada. Quando ho dovuto scegliere la location per trasferire gli uffici dalla bella Piazza D’Azeglio nel centro di Firenze, ormai diventati troppo piccoli per i ritmi di crescita della maison, ho scelto una zona che fosse facilmente raggiungibile da tutti e con una adeguata capacità di crescita futura.

Mi guardo intorno… il mio ufficio è colmo di oggetti che fanno parte della mia vita… disegni, foto, quadri, oggetti che ho disegnato e mobili che ho selezionato per rendere questo luogo di lavoro un’estensione di casa…

Qui ho tutto quello che mi permette di creare le nuove collezioni, comprese le migliaia di foto che ho scattato durante i miei viaggi intorno al mondo…

Ogni immagine porta con se un infinità di sensazioni… di ricordi… vi è mai capitato di guardare una foto e sentire i profumi, gli odori di quel luogo? A volte mi soffermo a pensare alle capacità della nostra mente, a come riusciamo a connettere in una frazione di secondo immagini, profumi, suoni ed emozioni…

321 A few days of complete relaxation…321. Qualche giorno di completo relax…

321 A few days of complete relaxation…

I decided to take a few days of complete relaxation…

I chose a resort that is located in the heart of Tuscany, at Bagno Vignoni in the Val D’Orcia, not far from Montalcino where they produce the famous Brunello wine.

Here the landscape is marked by green, gently rounded hills undulating to rhythms you can see and wish you could hear… how to capture those unheard rhythms in our designs?

The rows of cypress trees are characteristic of these places and help to impress the landscape on our visual memory.

We are not far from Florence… a short helicopter flight… in about 35 minutes we arrive at our destination.

Relaxation, rest for mind and body for a few days… I shall be completely unplugged…

Warm thermal waters and Vinotherapy, whose name says it all, to prepare me for what promises to be a very interesting autumn.

Next week I will begin to work on the new collections. February awaits us… it is just around the corner.

Lupo drops me a hint… it is time for our walk… he wants to explore these new places and mark his territory in his inimitable fashion…

321. Qualche giorno di completo relax…

Ho deciso di concedermi qualche giorno di completo relax…

Ho scelto una località che si trova nel cuore della Toscana, a Bagno Vignoni nella Val D’Orcia, non lontano da Montalcino dove viene prodotto il celebre vino Brunello.

Qui il paesaggio è segnato da verdi colline dal profilo dolcemente ondulato da ritmi che possiamo vedere ma non sentire… come riuscire a catturare questi ritmi inascoltati e tramutarli in disegni?

Le file di cipressi sono caratteristiche di questi luoghi e contribuiscono a imprimere questi posti nella nostra memoria visuale.

Non siamo molto distanti da Firenze, un breve volo in elicottero e in circa 35 minuti arriviamo a destinazione.

Relax completo, riposo per il corpo e per la mente… per qualche giorno stacco completamente la spina…

Calde acque termali e Vinotherapy, il cui nome è tutto un programma, per prepararmi a un autunno che si presenta molto interessante.

La prossima settimana inizia la preparazione delle nuove collezioni. Febbraio ci aspetta dietro l’angolo.

Lupo mi fa un cenno, è l’ora della nostra passeggiata… vuole esplorare questi nuovi posti e marcare il territorio…
