125. Sardinia is Wonderful!

After Cavallo we spent the evening in Porto Rotondo. We found a restaurant-pizzeria that I can really recommend.

“Il Tartarughino”… meeting place for young people… loud music… big screen… broadcasting the Olympics…

The next morning we left early heading towards Oristano, precisely, to the “Torre dei Corsari” [Corsairs’ Tower]!

Cristiana, my first daughter, is there for her summer holidays with her partner Francesco and their son Gabriele, an angel of goodness and beauty with a head full of blond curls… Gabriele is my first male grandchild… after six beautiful girls!

I knew that there were other people in Torre dei Corsari, but I had not imagined they had already created a summer community… I did not expect such a fantastic welcome. Francesca and Lucilla, my sister Lietta’s daughters, there with their husbands and children. Their friend Michele with his beautiful partner, several cousins and many friends.

Michele’s parents bought this farmhouse not far from the beach, many years ago. Every year the whole family and friends gather to spend the holidays together. Many children, each year fewer children as they grow into adults, I don’t see them very often and it makes me realize how quickly time passes…

Everyone was happy to see me. I have been so deeply engaged in my work that from the outside I may appear grumpy and aloof to these very feelings that have been such an important part of my childhood… I spent two quiet days and I got pampered by their sincere love and by the many happy memories they brought back to me…

It is a long time since I lived such sincere and happy evenings away from the superficiality that is too often a part of my life!

We bought so many lobsters and someone had the good fortune to catch a nine kilo umbrine!

When the umbrine was presented at the table, surrounded by twelve kilo of salt, there was a general ovation… Delicious…!

The sea around Sardinia has always appeared to me like a magical vision… but like most of the “rich” I only knew the Costa Smeralda… as a beautiful place, transformed into a place where to “appear”. The big boats that crowd the harbor are not there to enjoy the beauties that Sardinia has to offer… so much as to see and be seen…!

Even Lupo is happy and tranquil… he spends his time playing and flirting with a small white dog, a very sexy one!

Tomorrow morning we shall begin the great journey that will take us to Ibiza, the first island we shall encounter will be Menorca… then Majorca. I plan to be in Ibiza by the 14th.

We are awaiting the birth of Rosa’s puppies… we await them as if they were our grandchildren!

125. La Sardegna è Meravigliosa!

Dopo Cavallo abbiamo trascorso la serata a Porto Rotondo. Abbiamo scoperto un ristorante-pizzeria veramente da consigliare, Il Tartarughino. Luogo di ritrovo di tutti i giovani… musica ad alto volume con un maxi schermo che trasmette le Olimpiadi…

La mattina successiva siamo partiti prestissimo alla volta di Oristano, precisamente Torre dei Corsari!

Cristiana, la mia prima figlia ci trascorre le vacanze con il suo compagno Francesco e il loro bambino Gabriele, un vero angelo di bontà e bellezza con una testina piena di riccioli biondi… Gabriele è il mio primo nipotino maschio… dopo sei bellissime femmine!

Sapevo che erano in tanti, ma non m’immaginavo che avessero creato una comunità estiva… e non mi aspettavo tanta fantastica accoglienza. Francesca e Lucilla, le figlie di mia sorella Lietta, con i loro rispettivi mariti e i loro figli. Michele con la sua bella compagna, diversi cugini e tanti amici…

I genitori di Michele comprarono tanti anni fa questa casa-cascinale poco distante dalla spiaggia e ogni anno tutta la famiglia e i loro amici si riuniscono per trascorrere le vacanze tutti insieme. Tanti bambini, che ogni anno sono un po’ meno bambini, li vedo molto di rado e mi fanno capire come il tempo scorre veloce…

Tutti erano felici di rivedermi. Sono sempre così immerso nel mio lavoro da apparire scontroso e schivo a questi affetti che sono stati una parte importante della mia infanzia… ho trascorso due giorni sereni e mi sono fatto coccolare dal loro affetto sincero e da tanti bei ricordi…

Da molto tempo non vivevo una serata così sincera lontano dalle superficialità che troppo spesso fanno parte della mia vita!

Abbiamo comprato tante aragoste e abbiamo avuto la fortuna di pescare un’ombrina di nove chili!

Quando l’ombrina è arrivata a tavola, avvolta da dodici chili di sale, c’è stata un’ovazione generale… Buonissima…!

Il mare della Sardegna mi è sempre apparso come una visione magica… ma come la maggior parte dei “ricchi” conoscevo soltanto la costa Smeralda… un posto bellissimo, trasformato in luogo dove “apparire”. Le grandi barche che affollano il porto non sono lì per godere delle bellezze che la Sardegna ci offrire… ma per ostentare…!

Anche Lupo è tranquillo e felice… trascorre il tempo giocando e amoreggiando con una piccola canina bianca, decisamente molto sexy!

Domani mattina inizieremo la grande traversata che ci porterà a Ibiza, la prima isola che incontreremo sarà Minorca e poi Maiorca. Ho programmato di essere a Ibiza il 14.

Siamo in dolce attesa dei cuccioli che Rosa ci sta per regalare… li attendiamo come se fossero dei veri nipotini!
