159. Many Princes and Princesses…

It is Maria Eva’s Birthday, she is 5 years old and she is beautiful, a Scorpio like me!

She is delightful. Maybe I sound like a fanatical grandfather, but Maria Eva is really special. A little Miss, already in love with life and all the beautiful things that compose it, especially all those little things that can make it more beautiful!

But who is she like? Surely her grandmother Eva who is her great love! She admires her beauty and elegance. She likes to hug her and savor her perfume. I cannot deny that I am a little jealous… but I’m so happy for Eva. A special woman who has devoted so much of her life to work and is now rediscovering the wonder of holding a baby in her arms again!

Rachele, to celebrate Maria Eva’s birthday, has organized a big party in the large family home. She invited all her classmates and all the grandchildren.

The invitation card was gorgeous. Rachele has found, on the Internet, a company that prints what you want in just a few hours. She designed the card so that all children received a luxurious invitation “GALA FOR PRINCES AND PRINCESSES!”

I have not had so much fun for a long time. Children are wonderful… they are always beautiful! I was amused to discover so much diversity of character in them.

All the children wore fantastic costumes. The princesses were garlanded and made up perfectly and shone in their joy with so much emotion! Some girls hesitated to join in the games of the other children… shyness… fear. Some children, clutching their mother’s hands tightly, waited for the right time to begin to roll with others. Each of them had completely forgotten to be a prince or a princess!

The moment the cake with candles arrived all the moms, dads and children gathered around the table. Maria Eva stood in the front row ready to blow out the candles… with screams of delight all around her.

Eva and Rachele had decorated a room… lots of pink balloons… a large table in the center to receive the many gifts that her little guests had kindly brought for her.

Gifts wrapped in bright colors… so much joy… wanting to have fun… and… much LOVE!

159. Tanti Principi e Principesse…

È il Compleanno di Maria Eva, compie 5 anni, è una bella scorpioncino, come me!

È deliziosa. Forse parlo come un nonno fanatico, ma Maria Eva è proprio speciale. Una piccola signorina, già innamorata della vita e di tutte le cose belle che la compongono, specialmente tutte quelle piccole cose che la possono rendere più bella!

Ma a chi assomiglia? Sicuramente alla nonna Eva, e proprio la nonna è il suo grande amore! Ne ammira la bellezza e l’eleganza. Le piace abbracciarla e assaporarne i profumi. Non vi nascondo che c’è in me un briciolo di gelosia… ma sono tanto felice per Eva. Una donna speciale che ha dedicato troppo della sua vita al lavoro e sta riscoprendo la meraviglia di tenere un bambino fra le braccia!

Rachele, per festeggiare Maria Eva, ha organizzato una grande festa nella grande casa di famiglia. Ha invitato tutti i compagni di scuola e tutti i nipotini.

Il biglietto di invito era stupendo, Rachele ha trovato in internet, una compagnia che stampa ciò che desideri in poche ore. Ne ha studiata la bozza e ha fatto avere a tutti i bambini il lussuosissimo invito, “SERATA DI GALA PER PRINCIPI E PRINCIPESSE!”

Non mi divertivo così tanto da molto tempo. I bambini sono meravigliosi… sono sempre bellissimi! Mi sono divertito a scoprire in loro la diversità di carattere.

Tutti i bambini indossavano costumi fantastici. Le principesse erano inghirlandate e truccate perfettamente e traspariva nella loro gioia tanta emozione! Qualche bambina indugiava a gettarsi nei giochi degli altri bambini… timidezza, timore. Alcuni bambini stringevano forte la mano della loro mamma aspettando il momento giusto per incominciare a rotolarsi con gli altri. Ognuno di loro si era completamente dimenticato di essere un principe o una principessa!

Il momento della torta con le candeline ha riunito intorno al tavolo tutti, mamme, papà e tanti bambini. Maria Eva, in prima fila, è pronta a soffiare sulle candeline fra le urla di tutti.

Eva e Rachele avevano addobbato una stanza con tanti palloncini rosa con al centro un grande tavolo per ricevere i tanti regalini che ogni piccolo invitato aveva portato.

Tanti pacchettini colorati…tanta gioia… tanta voglia di divertirsi… e… tanto AMORE!

Every Sunday I risk a heart attack. But why? Every Sunday I ask myself the same question, “Why should I suffer, why the hell I should care about Fiorentina?”

But then every Sunday it’s the same emotion. When they lose, I feel nervous for three days… When they win my week starts well and I seem to be feeling positive!

I’m on the train, I’m on the way back from Turin with my son Tommaso. We don’t talk about the game. There is not much to say. The Turin team was playing a very tight defense against Fiorentina who wasted many good chances. Luckily a questionable penalty gave us a bit of oxygen, but this was quickly followed by a goal from Turin… a strange one, not easy to interpret.

I missed my beautiful television, the big screen involves me in everything that happens on the field. The thrill of being on the ground is different, but the replays on TV make you better understand what is happening and you can see the referee’s mistakes more clearly!

Then finally the right goal is scored… the perfect action… from the very player who had just been sent on the field five minutes before! From that moment we also hoped to win… to achieve the sixth consecutive win… that would have been wonderful! I hoped, but as things developed it seemed impossible… We should be satisfied with a 2 to 2 score.

Without Jovetić, Pizarro, Aquilani and Toni injured you could not hope for too much… but hope is always the last thing to die!

Even today the team is not at full strength. Our boys showed a lot of determination and will to win. A team like this has not been seen for a long time…

Now I turn to the “dear” friends, cheering with me who have written some nasty comments about me on Fiorentina.it. “I’m not allowed to externalize my rooting for Fiorentina, otherwise I have to endure criticism?” Dear friends do you feel it is right? I’ve never had and probably never will have the financial ability to buy Fiorentina. My investments are dedicated to my work and to the 600 people who contribute to the success of my company. On this basis even King Midas, as the owner of a football team, would face constant criticism…

When you think that throughout my business career I have promoted the name of Florence around the world without ever receiving a word of thanks… just criticism.

It is sad, but the only criticisms ever leveled at me are from my fellow citizens!

I am a Florentine of humble origins, I built my business from scratch.

I would prefer that we all value one another for what we have achieved rather than criticize one another for what have not yet accomplished.

158. Che Sofferenza!

Ogni domenica rischio l’attacco cardiaco. Ma perché? Ogni domenica mi pongo la stessa domanda “Ma perché devo soffrire, cosa cavolo me ne importa della Fiorentina?”

Ma poi ogni domenica è la stessa emozione. Quando perde, mi sento nervoso per tre giorni… quando vince incomincio bene la settimana e mi sembra di essere in fase positiva!

Sono in treno, sto rientrando da Torino con mio figlio Tommaso. Non parliamo della partita, non c’è molto da commentare. Un Torino chiuso in difesa con una Fiorentina che ha sprecato tante occasioni. Meno male che un rigore quasi inesistente ci ha ridato un po’ di ossigeno, seguito subito dopo da un gol strano del Torino, non facile da interpretare.

Ho sentito la mancanza della mia bella televisione, del megaschermo che mi rende partecipe di tutto ciò che succede in campo. L’emozione di essere sul campo è diversa, ma il replay ti fa capire meglio cosa succede e vedi gli errori dell’arbitro!

Poi, finalmente, è arrivato il gol giusto… preceduto da una giusta azione… e proprio dal quel giocatore entrato in campo cinque minuti prima! Da quel momento abbiamo anche sperato di vincere… di realizzare la sesta vittoria consecutiva… che soddisfazione sarebbe stata! Ci speravo, ma da come si erano messe le cose, sembrava impossibile… ACCONTENTIAMOCI DI UN 2 A 2.

Senza Jovetić, Pizarro, Aquilani e Toni infortunati non si poteva sperare troppo… ma la speranza è sempre l’ultima a morire!

Anche oggi la squadra è in formazione ridotta. I nostri ragazzi hanno dimostrato grinta e tanta voglia di vincere. Una squadra così non si vedeva da qualche tempo…

stadio fiorentina torino Domenica prossima dobbiamo riguadagnare il terreno perduto. La Sampdoria dovrà capitolare!

Adesso mi rivolgo ai “cari” amici, miei colleghi ti tifo, che hanno scritto un po’ di bischerate su di me sul sito Fiorentina.it. “Non mi è permesso di esternare il mio tifo per la Fiorentina, altrimenti devo subire critiche?” Cari amici, ma vi sembra giusto? Non ho mai avuto, e forse mai avrò, la possibilità economica di comprare la Fiorentina. I miei investimenti sono dedicati al mio lavoro e alle seicento persone che contribuiscono al successo della mia azienda. Anche se fossi Re Mida non comprerei mai una squadra di calcio per non essere criticato continuamente…

Pensate che dopo dieci anni sono ancora oggetto di critiche. Mai un elogio alla mia spontanea creatività che ha portato il nome di Firenze in tutto il mondo!

Mi fa tanto dispiacere essere criticato sempre e solo dai miei concittadini!

Sono un Fiorentino di umili origini, mi sono fatto da solo e desidero essere stimato per ciò che ho fatto e non biasimato per ciò che avrei dovuto fare…

My blog today will not be of interest to many of my friends, but if you love me you know my idiosyncrasies my hobbies and my little quirks!

I am calling it a mania, but it is not that exactly. I cannot find the right word to express a passion that sometimes turns into an exaggerated nervousness or over-enthusiasm.

I’ll tell you what it is… I am referring to… CHEERING FOR A FOOTBALL TEAM!

The team of my heart is called FIORENTINA! Nothing strange about that. I was born in Florence and even as a kid I supported the team during good times and bad.

We fans of FIORENTINA use the expression that a “purple heart” beats inside us! Purple is the color of the club’s football uniform. There is a crest showing the lily of Florence, red on white!

In 1955-56, Fiorentina won the Scudetto. What does this mean? The best team that year! What a joy! I was very young but I never missed a game. I would go without food to have enough money to buy a ticket!
This addiction is with me to this day. I have transmitted it to my sons.

Even today, I do not miss a game, I do not go to the stadium but I watch the games on television. I would like to go to the stadium to cheer on my team whose great fans, young and old, have turned their passion into a way of life! I refer to the “Curva Fiesole”, the “Nest of Purple Fans”.

Years of absolute flatness… a few years of small satisfactions… other years disastrous… but I have never understood how you cannot be a fan of your city’s team.

In Italy, there are many fans for Juventus, the Turin team whose great past record of winning is thanks to large investments by the President of Fiat. I believe that the leaders of Juventus should now, during this economic crisis, be investing more in Fiat. Such an investment would greatly help Fiat’s workers and the Juventus budget could be adjusted accordingly. This applies to other soccer teams, such as Inter and Milan, that are squandering enormous amounts of money!

I would like to see a start of the season with all teams on the same starting line. Ten million to invest, an amount equal to all. Just so you can judge the ability to buy and sell and the ability of a trainer to compose his team!

Now whoever wins, wins with the power of money! Like everything that is now part of our lives, unfortunately.

I am a dreamer… I always hoped that SPORT would be kept free of such a vicious cycle.

Fiorentina, after a year of misery, is offering a show that is very entertaining. I share my fun with my son Tommaso and with Francesco Tola, a dear friend who is even more fanatical than I am. On sunday evenings we often meet to exchange comments after the game.

I congratulate coach Montella who has been able to improve the performance of his team to such an extent that they now seem really interested in competing with the big teams again.

Finally, I am enjoying Fiorentina… I am having fun again… and my enthusiasm is the same as when I was a boy of the “Curva Fiesole”!

La Curva Fiesole

157. Che Bello Vincere!

Il mio post di oggi non sarà d’interesse per tanti miei amici, ma, se mi volete bene dovete conoscere i miei vizi i miei hobby e le mie piccole manie!

L’ho chiamata mania, ma non lo è esattamente. Non trovo la parola per esprimere una passione che si trasforma talvolta in esagerato nervosismo o entusiasmo sfrenato.

Esco allo scoperto… mi riferisco al… TIFO PER UNA SQUADRA DI CALCIO!

La squadra del mio cuore si chiama FIORENTINA!
Niente di strano, sono nato a Firenze e fin da ragazzino ho seguito la mia squadra nei momenti più belli come in quelli più brutti!

A Firenze usiamo l’espressione che in noi tifosi batte un cuore viola! Il viola è il colore delle maglie della Fiorentina con uno scudetto sul petto che rappresenta il giglio di Firenze, rosso su fondo bianco!

Nel campionato 1955-56, la Fiorentina ha vinto lo scudetto. Che cosa significa? La miglior squadra di quell’anno! Che gioia! Ero giovanissimo, ma non ho perso una partita. Facevo a meno di mangiare, ma le poche lire per comprarmi il biglietto riuscivo sempre a trovarle! Questa frenesia me la trascino fino ad oggi e ho contagiato anche i miei figli maschi.

Ancora oggi, non perdo una partita, non vado allo stadio e la guardo alla televisione. Vorrei andare allo stadio per incitare la mia squadra, in quella parte dello stadio dove i grandi tifosi, giovani e meno giovani, hanno fatto di questa passione una ragione di vita! Mi riferisco alla curva Fiesole, il “Nido del tifo Viola!”

Tanti anni di piatto assoluto… alcuni anni di piccole soddisfazioni… altri anni disastrosi… Non ho mai capito, quei tifosi che tifano per una squadra che non rappresenta la loro città.

In tutta Italia, ci sono molti tifosi della Juventus, una squadra di Torino con un gran passato vincente, grazie anche ai grandi investimenti da parte del presidente della Fiat. Credo che i dirigenti della Juventus dovrebbero investire maggiormente nella Fiat, oggi in grande crisi, aiutare gli operai adeguando le spese della Juventus alla crisi della Fiat. Questo vale anche per le altre società, vedi Inter e Milan, che stanno sperperando enormi capitali!

Vorrei vedere un inizio campionato con tutte le squadre sulla stessa linea di partenza. Ogni squadra con dieci milioni da investire. Un importo uguale per tutti. Solo così si può giudicare la capacità di acquisto e di vendita dei giocatori e la capacità dell’allenatore nel comporre una squadra vincente!

Chi vince, vince anche con la forza dei soldi! Come tutto ciò che oggi fa parte della nostra vita, purtroppo.

Sono un sognatore… ho sempre sperato che lo SPORT fosse stato tenuto al di fuori dei vizi del sistema! La Fiorentina, dopo un anno di squallore, ci sta offrendo uno spettacolo molto divertente, condivido questo mio divertimento con mio figlio Tommaso ed un caro amico ancor più fanatico di me, Francesco Tola. Spesso la domenica sera ci incontriamo per scambiare i commenti del dopo partita.

Mi congratulo con Montella che ha saputo stravolgere il gioco di una squadra che sembrava non più interessata a competere con le grandi squadre.

Finalmente mi diverto… mi svago… e mi entusiasmo come quando ero un ragazzo della curva Fiesole!
