47. Yana, my faithful friend, asked me a lot of questions in my post number forty-four.
I think that the answers to her questions maybe be of interest to all of my friends who follow my Blog…

Revealing some of my ideas for future collections.
I do not think that it would right for you or for me to reveal these ideas. I would not wish to deny you the delicious taste of surprise! I am sure you will understand and forgive me!

What is my favorite place to work?
Definitely the “stamperia”, the printing room…
After creating a design to be printed on the fabric, I order the printing plates and until I see the final result, I’m not happy. Anxiety… I get up early… sometimes very early… do the color variations… the choice of different color combinations for each design, so important… I make all the changes myself!

How important is the computer?
Quite important… I am not as expert as I would like to be, but I am very comfortable with Photoshop. It helps me process the photos I shoot during my travels in search of new ideas…

Who are my indispensable employees?
Employees? Absolutely everybody! My right arm… and left, is Claudia. She has become better than me at what she does, so she is more than indispensable, even if sometimes I am a bit jealous!

What is your typical day in the office?
I cannot really describe it. I live day by day. I’ll tell you a secret: “I’ve never had a secretary in my life!”
Can you imagine it? Nobody believes it but I do everything myself, including booking a restaurant for the evening or calling a taxi.
Often when I reveal my name, they do not believe it’s me!
My day varies a lot. I travel frequently. I try to avoid administrative problems as much as possible.
Sometimes my speed in understanding is special, as is my speed in forgetting!

I am creative, in the true meaning of the word, I like to think of new ideas and try always to be different. Thinking beyond the boundaries of reality allows me live in my own private world, very often not well understood by those who are around me!

47. Yana, una mia fedele amica, mi ha posto molto domande nel mio post numero quarantaquattro.
Ho considerato che le risposte alle sue domande potessero essere d’interesse anche per tutti i miei amici che mi seguono sul Blog…

Svelare alcune mie idee per le prossime collezioni.
Non credo sia giusto né per me e neanche per voi. Vi toglierei il gusto della sorpresa! Se mi volete veramente bene, mi dovete capire e perdonare!

Qual è il mio posto di lavoro preferito?
Decisamente la stamperia…
Dopo aver creato un disegno da stampare sul tessuto, faccio realizzare i cliché e fino a quando non vedo il risultato finale, non sono felice. E’ un’ansia… mi alzo presto… talvolta prestissimo… per fare le varianti di colore… la scelta importante delle varie combinazioni per ogni singolo disegno. Variazioni che faccio tutte personalmente!

Quanto è importante il computer?
Abbastanza… non sono bravissimo come vorrei, ma me la cavo in Photoshop. Mi aiuta a elaborare le foto che scatto nei miei viaggi, alla ricerca di nuove idee…

Quali sono i miei collaboratori indispensabili?
Collaboratori? Assolutamente tutti! Il mio braccio destro… e sinistro, è Claudia. E’ diventata più brava di me, quindi più che indispensabile, anche se talvolta sono un po’ geloso!

Giornata tipica in ufficio?
Non saprei proprio descriverla, vivo alla giornata. Vi svelo un segreto: “Non ho mai avuto una segretaria in vita mia!”
Lo potete immaginare? Nessuno ci crede ma faccio tutto da solo, compreso prenotare un ristorante per la sera o chiamare un taxi.
Spesso quando svelo il mio nome, non ci credono!
La mia giornata varia molto, sono spesso in viaggio. Cerco di occuparmi il meno possibile dei problemi amministrativi.
Talvolta la mia velocita nel capire è speciale, così come lo è la mia velocità nel dimenticare!

Sono un creativo, nel vero significato della parola, mi piace pensare a nuove idee e cerco di essere sempre diverso dagli altri. Pensare oltre i confini della realtà mi fa vivere in un mio mondo, molto spesso non compreso da chi mi sta intorno!

46. Good Morning Everybody…!

It’s hard to get up early when you’re not used to it. I cannot fall asleep before two or three o clock in the morning. I always have something to do and the time goes by.

Everything fast… already late… time for coffee on the fly… a wave to Lupo… ride to the airport… my pilot is waiting for me… we cannot delay our flight departure slot… off to Geneva!

Just over thirty minutes of flight … Franck Muller’s Rolls is waiting for me… Franck Muller is one of the most prestigious brands of watches. The fashion house Cavalli has signed a licensing contract for the realization and distribution of watches for men and women.

Prestige watches made in the true Swiss Made tradition designed by me, Roberto Cavalli!
It has been a very satisfactory agreement… I am a small collector of fine watches antique and otherwise and therefore able to judge and advise the designers and experts of the house of Franck Muller!

Not easy for me to describe the place where they make the wonderful Franck Muller watches – many buildings of different sizes with sloping roofs in the Helvetic, classic style, perfect in taste and hospitality.

In each of these buildings takes place the meticulous construction and assembly of each and every part… I visit them with great pleasure and attention to every department… incredibly charming…
Some of the watches are made of more than two thousand small items… The house of Franck Miller is one of the few, perhaps the only one that makes every little piece from steel or solid gold, including the tiny screws that hold each item!

I hope this description is of interest to you. It fascinates me. I am trying to convey my enthusiasm for such masterful craftsmanship!
I now have a much greater appreciation for the watch I am now wearing! It has a greater personal value for me.

We are gathered in one of their beautiful offices and I am being shown some embodiments of our ideas, the results of previous meetings.
I was especially pleased with these initial samples.
From the beginning it has not been easy for me to convey exactly my desires and the styles of the timepieces that will carry my name.

Prestigious watches of great quality, steel, white gold, yellow gold and rose gold, embellished with diamonds. The special made more special like the clothes I design!
“I am very pleased, WELL DONE!” With these words we parted. At five o’clock I was back in Milan.

It has been a good day for me. I created and I helped create.

46. Buon Giorno a Tutti…!

E’ duro alzarsi presto quando non ci sei abituato. La sera non riesco ad addormentarmi prima delle due, le tre del mattino. Ho sempre qualche cosa da fare, il tempo mi scorre veloce.

Devo fare tutto velocemente… sono già in ritardo… il tempo di prendere un caffe al volo e dare un saluto a Lupo… corro all’aeroporto… il mio pilota mi sta aspettando.. non possiamo superare lo slot che ci hanno assegnato per la partenza… oggi si va a Ginevra!

Poco più di trenta minuti di volo… una Rolls della Franck Muller mi sta aspettando… Franck Muller è una delle più prestigiose marche di orologi. La maison Cavalli ha firmato un contratto di licenza per la realizzazione e la distribuzione di orologi per uomo e donna.

Orologi speciali, perfetti nel pregio della migliore tradizione Svizzera, disegnati naturalmente da me, Roberto Cavalli! E’ stato un accordo particolarmente soddisfacente… sono un piccolo collezionista di orologi di pregio, antichi e meno, sono quindi in grado di giudicare e consigliare i grandi designer ed esperti della maison Frank Muller!

Non mi è facile descrivervi il luogo dove sono costruiti i meravigliosi orologi Franck Muller, tante palazzine di dimensioni diverse, con i tetti spioventi in classico stile elvetico. Perfette nel gusto e nell’accoglienza.

In ognuno di questi edifici, avviene la costruzione e l’assemblaggio di ogni singolo pezzo… Ho visitato con enorme piacere e attenzione ogni reparto… incredibilmente affascinante…
Pensate che alcuni degli orologi sono composti da oltre duemila piccoli elementi… La maison Frank Miller è una delle poche, forse l’unica, che costruisce internamente ogni piccolo pezzo utilizzando acciaio e oro massiccio, ivi incluse le microscopiche viti che tengono insieme ogni elemento!

Spero di avervi interessato con questa descrizione, ho cercato di trasmettervi il mio interesse ed entusiasmo nei confronti di questi magnifici strumenti per la misura del tempo! L’orologio che indosso, da oggi avrà per me un valore maggiore!

Ci siamo riuniti in uno dei bellissimi uffici e mi hanno mostrato alcune realizzazioni, frutto delle idee sviluppate nel corso dei precedenti meeting. Sono rimasto particolarmente soddisfatto da questi primi campioni. Fin dagli inizi non era stato facile far capire esattamente i miei desideri e lo stile che dovranno avere gli orologi che porteranno il mio nome.

Orologi di grande pregio, in acciaio, oro bianco, oro giallo e oro rosa, impreziositi con brillanti per renderli più speciali! Come gli abiti che disegno!
“Sono molto soddisfatto, BRAVI!” Con queste parole ci siamo lasciati. Alle cinque del pomeriggio ero di nuovo a Milano.

Sono soddisfatto… ho creato ed ho aiutato a creare.

45. I told you…

45. I told you that when my days are devoted entirely to work, collections and meetings, I try to be with you, talking a little bit about myself…

I assure you that for you to know and understand me is and will be an adventure! I have already told you about my passion for the sky, feeling as though I have wings.

I can also tell you about my passion for cars. It began when I was 18, the legal age for getting a driving license in Italy! My first car… a blue Fiat 500. On long journeys I remember I had to keep the engine hood open to get a better cooling for the engine!

Those were the days when I was engaged to my first wife, we were beautiful, young and penniless. The Fiat 500 was also my pied-à-terre… You can imagine!
When I was 21 the work began to go pretty well and so I signed 3 centimeters thick of promissory notes and I bought a Fiat 1500 convertible, a used one, of course! Very used!

What work was I doing? Well, on this topic I’ll write several posts…! I can only begin to tell you that I started out painting on t-shirts and pullovers. Then I began to think how I could speed up the art of hand painting…
It was not bad – working twenty hours a day – it meant that I was soon able to buy my first Ferrari, white with black roof. I was not yet thirty years old. You can imagine how a Ferrari helped me to meet women!

I just wanted to remind you that once I was young too! I never liked those grumpy “old folks”. What? You want to remind me that now I am one of them…? It is not true! I realize I am no longer a young boy only when I brush my teeth and I look at myself in the mirror… when I was young I used to joke that “old people should be killed right when born!” Now that I am older and more tolerant I no longer think this way.

Every collection reminds me of the importance of thinking young. Every collection reminds me of the importance of being mature. I try to deal with my own personal generation gap.

I wanted to tell you something amusing that experience has taught me… Hope I have succeeded and made you smile.

45. Vi avevo detto che quando le mie giornate sarebbero state interamente dedicate al lavoro, collezioni e meeting, avrei cercato di essere con voi parlando un po’ di me stesso…

Vi posso garantire che conoscermi e capirmi è un’avventura, in questo caso, per voi! Vi ho parlato della mia passione per il cielo, sentirmi le ali addosso.
Posso anche confidarvi la mia passione per le auto, è incominciata a 18 anni, l’età della patente in Italia! La mia prima auto… una Fiat 500 blu. Nei viaggi lunghi tenevo il piccolo cofano aperto per ottenere un miglior raffreddamento del motore!

Erano i tempi in cui ero fidanzato con la mia prima moglie, eravamo belli, giovani e senza soldi. La Fiat 500 era anche il mio pied-à-terre… Vi lascio immaginare!!
A ventuno anni il lavoro incominciava ad andarmi benino e firmando tre centimetri di cambiali comprai una Fiat 1500 decapottabile, naturalmente usata! Molto usata!

Che lavoro facevo? Bene, su argomento credo che scriverò diversi post…! Posso solo iniziare a dirvi che incominciai a dipingere su t-shirt e pullover, incominciai poi a pensare come velocizzare la mia arte della pittura a mano…
Non era niente male, lavorando venti ore il giorno riuscii presto a comprarmi la mia prima Ferrari, bianca con tettuccio nero, non avevo ancora compiuto i trenta anni. Potete immaginare quanto una Ferrarina mi aiutava nelle conquiste!

Volevo anche ricordarvi che sono stato giovane anch’io! Per tutta la vita non ho mai amato quei rompipalle dei “vecchi”. Come? Volete ricordarmi che adesso tocca a me… non è vero! Mi rendo conto di non essere più un ragazzo solo quando mi lavo i denti e mi guardo allo specchio…

Ogni collezione mi ricorda l’importanza di pensare giovane, ogni collezione mi ricorda l’importanza di essere maturo. Spesso scherzando dico che i vecchi andrebbero uccisi quando nascono! Perché ho una tale predisposta antipatia…? Solo perché con loro ci sono anch’io! E poi, dovevo pur raccontarvi qualche cazzata… spero d esserci riuscito! …anche a farvi sorridere.
