148. I’m in London with Robert…

Robin has struggled to find an apartment he wanted, just a few meters from my boutique on Sloane Street in London.

I had to help him with it. I did not listen to my principles, “not to help children too much…” but Robin is a student in his first year in college and he is a good guy… maybe he deserves a little help!

I was in NY. I left a day earlier and, instead of returning immediately to Florence, I arranged to stop in London to spend two days with Robin. I want to finally see what he has chosen and eventually to meet his friends!

A car is waiting for me at the airport. I have not seen Robin, my little big gentle giant, for several weeks! He is waiting for me at the door, perhaps he is anxious to see me and excited to show me his new apartment!

Robin was right to try so hard to find this place… it is really delightful… my little scream of admiration makes him happy. He is telling me that he decorated it himself, without any help! Everything is perfect… clean… everything is in the right place!

He has so much to tell me, even though we talk every day on the phone. He is not entirely convinced about the direction he has chosen at the college. He seeks my advice…

Robin is taking a course in Business at Regent’s College. I always admired his taciturn but imaginative character. This side of his character reminds me of an eighteen-year-old Roberto Cavalli who feared the future, with little self-confidence. I took refuge in my thoughts and art was my outlet!

Robin has to follow his instincts. It is difficult for a father to advise … His life is long, there is plenty of time for it to find the truth that lurks inside him! What he is doing is not a waste of time. Life is a wonderful container of many experiences!

Robin Cavalli When I asked him where he is taking me for dinner and if he had organized the evening to include some friends, I find out that it is the Omar’s birthday, his best friend.

Robin made a round of phone calls to gather as many friends as possible to celebrate Omar’s birthday.

I called the Director of CIPRIANI to book a table and I ordered a cake with twenty-three candles with the words “Happy Birthday Omar.”

Birthday at Cipriani - London There was a lot of joy in Robin’s face. I was happy to be near him and to be a “friend” among his friends!

148. Sono a Londra con Robert…

Robin ha lottato per avere l’appartamento che desiderava, a pochi metri dal mio negozio e quindi… centralissimo!

Ho dovuto cedere, ho dovuto non ascoltare i miei principi di “non concedere troppo ai figli…” ma Robin è al primo anno di università, è un bravo ragazzo, forse se lo merita!

Ero a NY, ho cercato di liberarmi un giorno prima e invece di rientrare subito a Firenze mi sono organizzato per fermarmi a Londra e trascorrere due giorni con Robin. Volevo finalmente vedere questa casa speciale e conoscere i suoi amici, se avrà voglia di presentarmeli!

Un’auto mi aspetta all’aeroporto. Non vedo Robin da diverse settimane, il mio piccolo grande gigante buono! Mi aspetta sulla porta, forse anche lui è ansioso di vedermi ed emozionato di mostrarmi il suo nuovo appartamento!

Robin aveva ragione ad insistere tanto… è veramente delizioso… il mio urletto di ammirazione lo rende felice.
Mi ripete con la voce mozzata che lo aveva decorato da solo, senza aiuti! Tutto è perfetto… pulito… tutto minuziosamente al suo posto!

Ha tante cose da raccontarmi, anche se parliamo tutti i giorni al telefono. Non è completamente convinto della direzione che ha scelto all’università. Ci tiene ad avere un mio consiglio…

Robin sta frequentando la facoltà di Business alla Regent University. Ho sempre ammirato il suo carattere taciturno ma estroso. Questo lato del suo carattere mi ricorda il Roberto Cavalli diciottenne che temeva il futuro, con poca fiducia in se stesso. Mi rifugiavo nei miei pensieri e l’arte era il mio sfogo!

Robin deve seguire il suo istinto. È difficile per un padre consigliare… la sua vita è lunga, ha tanto tempo per poter esprimere la verità che cova dentro di se! Tutto ciò che sta facendo non è tempo perso. La vita è un meraviglioso contenitore di tante esperienze!

Robin Cavalli Quando gli ho chiesto dove mi avrebbe portato a cena e se aveva organizzato la serata con qualche amico e scopro che era il compleanno di Omar, il suo migliore amico.

È stato difficile convincerlo ad organizzare una cena per festeggiare Omar. Sarei stato felice di aiutarlo, convinco Robin a fare un giro di telefonate per cercar di raggruppare più amici possibili.

Telefono al direttore di CIPRIANI per prenotare il tavolo e ordino una torta con ventitré candeline con la scritta “Happy Birthday Omar”.

Birthday at Cipriani - London Ho visto tanta gioia nel volto di Robin. Anche io ero felice di essere vicino a lui e poter essere un “amico” fra i suoi amici!

147. A New Just Cavalli Boutique in Soho.

This brand, Just Cavalli, is having a great success! It is regaining the ground lost due to the failure of the previous licensee.

This latest collection for summer 2013 had an increase in sales of 34 percent. I’ve dedicated myself more than ever… I felt young… creating this collection with a lot of grit for the young!

One of the important reasons for my trip to New York is to visit the space that will house the future JUST CAVALLI boutique. It is located on West Broadway before Spring Street. I know this space well. Until a few months ago there was the D&G boutique, the brand abandoned by Dolce & Gabbana.

I took a lot of photos. The place is in excellent condition. I’ll start the project immediately with my young architects. I would like to open it up and have a big opening party this February, during the New York Fashion Week.

Immediately after that I went for lunch at MICHAEL’S, a good restaurant on 55th between Fifth and Sixth Avenue, in company with Glenda Bailey, the great editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar and its highly respected fashion editors Laura Brown and Nicole Fritton.

I’d give Glenda the Palm of Sympathy of American Fashion and to Laura and Nicole great recognition for their sexy charm! As you can imagine it was a very enjoyable and memorable lunch!

Soon after I ran home to prepare my luggage. At 6.30pm Cristiano and Massimo Veneziano will take me to my boutique on Madison Avenue where 50 beautiful ladies, great clients and fans, are waiting for me to attend a small fashion show. I will host with my good friend Hal Rubenstein, director of InStyle!

Immediately after the meeting with my wonderful fans I run to the airport to take the British Airways night flight to London!

I hope that my pictures allow you to live with me my three days in New York…

147. Una Nuova Boutique Just Cavalli a Soho.

Questo mio brand Just Cavalli sta ottenendo un grande successo! Sta recuperando il terreno che ha perso a causa del fallimento del precedente licenziatario.

Quest’ultima collezione per l’estate 2013 ha avuto un incremento di vendite del 34 per cento. Mi ci sono dedicato come non mai… mi sono sentito giovane… creare con tanta grinta una collezione per i giovani!

Uno dei motivi importanti del mio viaggio è la visita allo spazio che ospiterà la futura boutique JUST CAVALLI. Si trova sulla West Broadway prima di Spring Street. Questo spazio lo conosco bene, fino a pochi mesi fa c’era il negozio di D&G, il marchio abbandonato da Dolce e Gabbana.

Ho fatto tantissime foto, è in ottime condizioni. Incomincerò subito il progetto con i miei giovani architetti. Desidero aprirlo e fare una gran festa d’inaugurazione a febbraio durante la settimana della moda di New York.

Subito dopo vado per lunch da MICHAEL’S, un buon ristorante sulla 55 fra la quinta e la sesta avenue in compagnia di Glenda Bailey, la grande editor-in-chief di Harper’s Bazaar e le sue bravissime fashion editor Laura Brown e Nicole Fritton.

Darei a Glenda la palma della simpatia della moda americana e a Laura e Nicole un gran riconoscimento al loro fascino sexy! Come vi potete immaginare è stato un lunch molto divertente e speciale!

Poi, di corsa a casa a preparare i bagagli. Alle 18,30 Cristiano e Massimo Veneziano mi accompagnano al mio negozio in Madison Avenue dove 50 belle signore, mie fans e ottime clienti, mi aspettano per assistere a un piccolo défilé che presento con il mio grande amico Hal Rubenstein, direttore di InStyle!

Terminato il meeting con le mie belle fans corro all’aeroporto per prendere il volo notturno della British Airways che mi porterà a Londra!

Mi auguro che le foto vi facciano rivivere insieme a me le tre giornate che ho passato a New York…

I spent three intense days in New York. The first day was completely dedicated to interviews and photo sessions. Many journalists from the cosmetic sector of the major American newspapers are there. A long day… tiring… but fun! I am brilliant with everyone and try not to repeat myself in my answers, even if the questions are sometimes the same!

The second day was a continuation of the first… with the compliments of all my colleagues, they found me in great shape and my answers funny! I think I won the American press over!

In the evening… Great Party… Coty, with the help of my colleagues in Milan and NY organized a wonderful evening to celebrate the launch of the Just Cavalli fragrance. Of course, the stars of the evening were Roberto Cavalli and Georgia Jagger, the lovely daughter of the great Mike Jagger, the face of the Just Cavalli perfume!

The photos and video are very beautiful and invite you to try the new fragrance. Georgia is beautiful… and very sexy!

The whole evening is held in a beautiful house in the West Village… many-storied with different activities organized on each level… one of the most distinctive areas of NY, home to many artists.

A red carpet welcomed guests, journalists and important personalities from the cosmetics world. Michele Scannavini, the great and simpatico general manager of Coty, does the honors brilliantly.

Everything is very special… a glass wall shows the inside of the pool located on the first floor, it’s fun to watch a beautiful girl fully dressed in an elegant suit swimming and gently flirting with a guy in a tuxedo… they swim and play underwater.

In a large room on the first floor there are long tables with special settings… food is served wrapped in colored napkins. I choose a seat next to Georgia… deliziosa… wrapped in a colorful Just Cavalli mini dress. Her smile lights up her face making her blue eyes shine… Georgia is the right person… a perfect testimonial for my new Just Cavalli perfume… happy… sexy… with a great desire to live!

In a mysterious small sitting area, a fortune-teller is reading the future with cards, I was given the chance to jump the the long line of girls who wanting to know the future of their loves! The fortune teller predicted great things for me… new love… travel… and of course, big money!

Jet lag begins to bite, and for me the evening ends early while the party goes on the top floor in the disco fun!

A big hello to all and I entrust myself to Freddy, my driver, who accompanies me to my beloved apartment!

I’m back at the airport… waiting for the flight to London so that I can visit my “bambino” Robert. Actually he is not a child any longer… he is a “piccolo gigante buono” who turns nineteen in December! A special guy… he is studying Business at the University of London.

146. The Big Apple!

A New York ho trascorso tre giorni intensi. Il primo giorno è stato dedicato completamente a foto e interviste. Tanti giornalisti del settore cosmetico delle più importanti testate americane. Una giornata lunga… faticosa… ma divertente! Sono brillante con tutti e cerco di non ripetermi mai nelle mie risposte, anche se le domande sono spesso sempre le stesse!

Il secondo giorno è stato la continuazione del primo… con i complimenti di tutti i miei collaboratori che mi hanno trovato in gran forma e molto divertente nelle mie risposte! Credo di aver conquistato la stampa americana!

La sera… Gran Party! Coty con l’aiuto dei miei collaboratori di Milano e New York ha organizzato una bellissima serata per celebrare il lancio del profumo Just Cavalli. Naturalmente le star della serata erano Roberto Cavalli e Georgia Jagger, la deliziosa figlia del grande Mike Jagger, testimonial del profumo Just Cavalli!

Le foto e il video sono molto belli e invitano a provare la nuova fragranza. Georgia è bellissima e… molto sexy!

La serata si svolge in una bellissima casa situata nel West Village, una delle zone più caratteristiche di NY, residenza di molti artisti.

Un tappeto rosso accoglie gli ospiti, giornalisti e importanti personalità del mondo della cosmesi. Michele Scannavini, il grande e simpatico general manager di Coty, fa gli onori di casa.

Tutto molto speciale… una parete in vetro mostra l’interno della piscina posta al primo piano, è divertente guardare una bella ragazza completamente vestita in un elegante tailleur nuotare e amoreggiare dolcemente con un ragazzo in smoking… mentre nuotano e giocano sott’acqua.

Una grande stanza al primo piano ospita lunghi tavoli con apparecchiature particolari, il cibo viene servito avvolto da tovaglioli colorati. Scelgo un buon posto accanto a Georgia… è deliziosa, avvolta in un colorato miniabito Just Cavalli. Il sorriso le illumina il volto facendole brillare gli occhi azzurri… Veramente un’ottima scelta… Georgia è la persona giusta come testimonial per il mio nuovo profumo Just Cavalli… allegra… sexy… con tanta voglia di vivere!

In un piccolo misterioso salottino, una cartomante legge il futuro con le carte, la fortuna di essere Roberto Cavalli mi ha fatto superare la lunga coda delle ragazze che desideravano conoscere il futuro dei loro amori! La cartomante mi ha pronosticato cose fantastiche… nuovi amori… viaggi… e naturalmente, grandi guadagni!

Il jet lag incominci a farsi sentire e per me la serata finisce presto mentre la festa continua, all’ultimo piano, nella divertente discoteca!

Un gran saluto a tutti e mi affido a Freddy, il mio driver, che mi accompagna al mio adorato appartamento!

Sono di nuovo in aeroporto… a New York in attesa del volo per Londra. Ho deciso di andare a trovare il mio “bambino” Robert che tanto bambino non lo è più… è un piccolo gigante buono che compirà diciannove anni a dicembre! Un ragazzo speciale… studia Business all’università di Londra!
