I enter the Grand Salon of the Cipriani Wall Street, the light is soft and warm.

A charming young hostess shows me to my table, the number 23 for numerology lovers. I feel particularly uncomfortable disturbing my guests who are already seated and for breaking the silence that accompanies the sweet magic of a great tenor voice.

I immediately notice the only empty chair at my table, Cindy Crawford on the right and Julianne Moore on the left.
I feel embarrassed about whom to kiss first. Both are great friends. I had not seen them for over a year, maybe longer in Julianne’s case. I realize this when she mentions her children’s ages as she shows me their photos. I remember having seen them in a baby carriage and I remember the boy running round their beautiful apartment in the fashionable Meatpacking District of New York.

I first met Julianne Moore in Florence when she was shooting the movie Hannibal. I was a good friend of Ridley Scott, the director, and it was fun to become their point of leisure in Florence.

Anthony Hopkins (Hannibal) came over for morning coffee at my house after a half hour in the gym. The friendship with Julianne Moore has continued and tonight it gave me great pleasure to see her again – very charming and talented. The color of her hair and the color of her eyes are indescribable! I kissed Julianne first and her smile tells me how pleased she is to see me again!

I can’t wait to hug Cindy, the most special, the most beautiful and sexiest of all the models I’ve known in the fashion world! Cindy wear a long, close-fitting Cavalli dress, gray with silver reflections, its wide neckline is a dream offering a glimpse of her beautiful breasts that have never known the wickedness of the time!
Later I will tell you how and where I first met Cindy and how sweet and sincere our friendship has been!

Julianne is sitting on the right of Stefano Tonchi, a great Italian, who became one of the most highly regarded journalists in America, known for his skill and professionalism. Today he is the director of W.
I do not exaggerate when I judge this monthly magazine the number one in American fashion. A dear friend for many years and, like me, Fiorentino!

Elizabeth Hurley is accompanied by her fiancé. What a beautiful woman! I love her femininity. It is not easy for me not to gaze on her beauty. I have known Elizabeth for some years but we have not had many opportunities to enhance our meetings into a long-standing friendship. I was on more friendly terms with her former boyfriend Hugh Grant!

Then Robert Cavalli, my son. Beside Robert is Jennifer Hudson, one of the great American film stars who won the Oscar for Best Actress in 2007! I met Jennifer in Milan at a dinner hosted by Vogue Italy.

The next star at my table is Hal Rubenstein the great journalist for In Style. A great person and a great friend for many years.
Our esteem for one another has taught me how important this quality is in a friendship!

So now you know something more of this fantastic evening, but everything is yet to begin.

Entro nella grande sala del Cipriani Wall Street, la luce era già soft e calda.
Una bella inserviente mi accompagna al mio tavolo, il numero 23 per gli amanti di numerologia. Mi sento particolarmente a disagio, disturbare i miei invitati già seduti e infrangere quel dolce silenzio che accompagna la voce magica di un gran tenore.

Noto subito l’unica poltrona vuota al mio tavolo, alla destra Cindy Crawford e alla sinistra Julianne Moore.
Mi sento in imbarazzo, a chi dare il primo bacio? Due grandi amiche che non vedevo da oltre un anno, forse Julianne molto di più. L’ho capito quando mi ha detto l’età dei suoi bambini e mi ha mostrato le loro foto. Mi sono ricordato di averli visti in carrozzina, il maschietto che correva per il loro bell’appartamento nel Meatpacking District di New York.

Ho conosciuto Julianne Moore a Firenze durante le riprese del film Hannibal. Ero molto amico del regista Ridley Scott e fu divertente divenire il loro punto di svago a Firenze.
Anthony Hopkins (Hannibal) veniva la mattina, dopo mezz’ora di palestra, a prendere il caffe a casa mia. L’amicizia con Julianne Moore è poi continuata e mi fa un enorme piacere rivederla. E’ molto brava e affascinante. Il colore dei suoi occhi e quello dei suoi capelli sono indescrivibili!
Do a lei il mio primo bacino di saluto e noto nel suo sorriso un gran piacere nel rivedermi!

Non vedo l’ora di riabbracciare Cindy, la più speciale, la più bella e la più sexy di tutte le modelle che ho conosciuto nel mondo della moda! Cindy indossa un abito Cavalli, lungo e attillato, grigio con riflessi argento. Una larga scollatura fa sognare di intravedere i suoi meravigliosi seni che non hanno mai conosciuto la cattiveria del tempo! Vi racconterò in seguito come e dove ho conosciuto Cindy e quanto dolce e sincera è stata la nostra amicizia!

Alla sinistra di Julianne siede Stefano Tonchi, un grande italiano, diventato in America un giornalista fra i più quotati per la sua maestria e professionalità. Oggi è il direttore di W, non credo di esagerare se lo giudico uno dei mensili più importanti della moda americana. Un caro amico da molti anni e, come me, Fiorentino!

Elizabeth Hurley è accompagnata dal suo fidanzato. Che bella donna! Io che amo la femminilità, mi è non facile posare il mio sguardo troppo spesso sulla sua bellezza.
Conosco Elizabeth da qualche anno, ma non abbiamo avuto tante occasioni per frequentarci e trasformare la nostra conoscenza in amicizia. Ero decisamente più amico del suo ex compagno Hugh Grant !

Poi Robert Cavalli, mio figlio. Accanto a Robert, Jennifer Hudson, una delle grandi star del cinema americano, vincitrice dell’Oscar come migliore attrice nel 2007! Ho conosciuto Jennifer a Milano durante una cena organizzata da Vogue Italia.

L’ultima star al mio tavolo e Hal Rubinstein il gran giornalista di In Style, una grande persona e un grande amico da vari anni, ci stimiamo e questa è una delle cose più importanti in un amicizia!

Adesso sapete qualche cosa di più di questa fantastica serata, ma tutto deve ancora incominciare.
