Punctual as always, Ferragosto is here!

Ferragosto is an Italian holiday, is the most festive day of the year… it’s not a religious or a political party holiday. The celebration of the Ferragosto, from the Latin Feriae Augusti – Augustus’ rest, dates back to the ancient Romans and was created by the Emperor Augustus as a day devoted to rest after the labors of the harvest.

Every year on August 15 each town celebrates Ferragosto, the great midsummer festival, with street parties and fireworks…

It is a celebration that marks the turning point that divides the year into two parts. After Ferragosto we, in the fashion world, start thinking about the fall fashion shows and the projects that we suspended in late July…

For me, Ferragosto is also a time for reflection. It is when I make a mental report to myself on the first half of the year and get ready to face the new challenges of the autumn / winter…

As I already wrote earlier this year LINK, 2013 is an important year for my fashion and I am very happy with my new projects…

The first part of the year was a success…! I still have a few days of rest before going back to work. So many new projects are waiting for me…

Italy will be back to work… I’m very optimistic and I am sure that through our efforts and creativity, which is typical for Italians, we will revive our beloved Italy…

Puntuale come sempre anche quest’anno è arrivato il Ferragosto!

Qui da noi in Italia il Ferragosto è un giorno festivo, il giorno più festivo di tutto l’anno… non è una festa religiosa e neanche una festa politica. La celebrazione del Ferragosto, dal latino Feriae Augusti – riposo di Augusto, risale agli antichi Romani e fu istituita dall’imperatore Augusto come giornata dedicata al riposo dopo le fatiche del raccolto.

Ogni anno il 15 di Agosto si ripete la grande festa di mezza estate, ogni località celebra il Ferragosto con feste di piazza e fuochi d’artificio…

È una festa che segna il giro di boa che divide l’anno in due parti. Dopo Ferragosto si rincomincia già a pensare alle sfilate del prossimo autunno… ai progetti che abbiamo sospeso a fine Luglio….

Per me il Ferragosto è anche un momento di riflessione, è il momento in cui faccio il bilancio della prima parte dell’anno e mi preparo ad affrontare le nuove sfide dell’autunno/inverno…

Come vi avevo già scritto all’inizio dell’anno LINK, il 2013 è un anno importante per la mia moda e sono molto soddisfatto dei miei nuovi progetti…

Just Cavalli è finalmente guarito, il mio bambino aveva bisogno delle mie cure e delle mie attenzioni… oggi Just Cavalli mi sta dando molte soddisfazioni… Just Cavalli, The Perfume… un successo… qui sono in compagnia della bellissima Georgia May Jagger… LINK

I’m in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.   I left Cavallò and I am now sailing to Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean.
I am at the helm of the Bat-Zodiac and the sophisticated electronic equipment indicates the route to follow with accuracy and precision… I think for a moment of the great navigators of the past, guided by the stars, the currents and the passion to discover new lands… without the aid of GPS and electronic compasses…

I’m going to explore Sicily, an incredibly beautiful island, the crossroads of the major cultures of the Mediterranean basin. Over the centuries Sicily was invaded and conquered by different civilizations… Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Goths, Arabs and Normans… owned by the Aragonese and Bourbons… each of these civilizations has left an indelible mark on the island.   The whole island is a very interesting open-air historical museum…

Sicily is also home of Mount Etna, which is the highest active volcano in Europe… it occasionally wakes up and erupts…

In my previous trips to this wonderful island I was fascinated by the COLORS and the SCENTS of Sicily,,, incredibly bright, living, shameless colours that intoxicate your senses… as do its scents… intense, fresh, primitive, unique, lingering, beyond the describable…

I am going to dedicate an entire collection inspired by the exotic beauty of Sicily…

The beep of the on-board instruments interrupts my thoughts and demands my attention…

I have to leave you, but only for a moment…

Sono nel bel mezzo del Mar Mediterraneo. Ho lasciato Cavallò e sono in navigazione verso la più grande isola del Mar Mediterraneo, la Sicilia.

Sono al timone del Bat-Gommone e i sofisticati strumenti di bordo mi indicano con estrema precisione la rotta da seguire… penso per un attimo ai grandi navigatori del passato, guidati dalle stelle, dalle correnti e dalla passione di scoprire nuovi terre… senza l’ausilio di GPS e bussole elettroniche…

Vado alla scoperta della Sicilia, un’isola incredibilmente bella, punto d’incrocio delle maggiori culture del bacino mediterraneo. Nel corso dei secoli la Sicilia è stata invasa e conquistata da civiltà diverse… Greci, antichi Romani, Bizantini, Ostrogoti, Arabi e Normanni… posseduta dagli Aragona e dai Borboni… e ognuna di queste civiltà ha lasciato tracce indelebili in quest’isola che è praticamente un interessante museo a cielo aperto…

La Sicilia ospita anche l’Etna che è il più alto vulcano attivo d’Europa… e di tanto in tanto si risveglia…

Nei miei precedenti viaggi in questa meravigliosa isola sono rimasto affascinato dai COLORI e dai PROFUMI della Sicilia… colori incredibilmente accesi, vivi, sfacciati che inebriano i sensi… così come i suoi profumi, intensi, freschi, primordiali, unici, persistenti, quasi indescrivibili…

Devo decidermi a dedicare un’intera collezione ispirata alla bellezza esotica della Sicilia…

Il beep della strumentazione di bordo interrompe i miei pensieri e richiede la mia attenzione…

Vi lascio, ma solo per un attimo…

I left the French Riviera behind me and, on board the agile and fast Bat-zodiac, I’m heading to Corsica. My final destination is Cavallò Island.

I have always loved the sea, I could never live without a boat. A boat that is not too big… one you can take care of yourself when you are captain, sailor, cook and dreamer…!

Several years ago I was drawn to buy a mooring spot in a small boat harbor that was being created on one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Cavallò. Words cannot describe the beauty of this island… the color of the water changes with the color of the sky… 1000 shades of blue and turquoise… the texture of the sand differs from one bay to another…

Cavallò is located between Sardinia and Corsica, exactly at the beginning of the channel separating the two islands. This channel is well known for its strong to very strong winds and it is therefore often impossible to navigate from one island to another with a small boat.

The strong winds, the turbulence of the sea and the continuous movement of the waves create a perfect smoothing of the rocks that surround Cavallò making it look unreal, like a lunar landscape!

The atmosphere of the island is unique, soft and romantic. A small hotel – its rooms are bungalows situated between the cliffs and beach – a perfect place to meet with your friends. Each year the event is scheduled for August 10th so we can watch the shooting stars…

The harbor is charming… designed as a place to moor for short periods rather as a fully featured harbor. Cavallò has always been my favorite destination, the island has seen Daniele grow and Rachele become a young lady…

Rachele, Cristiana and their families are already at Cavallò waiting for me… I cannot wait to spend a few days of tranquility with my grandchildren… the part of my grandfather’s role I like most is to tell them first hand the whole experience of my life… all the emotions…

Christiana shares with me my passion for the sea and this year she bought a beautiful sailing boat with which to explore the Mediterranean…

Dear friends, I have to leave now, I can already hear the voices of my grandchildren who reclaim me… I have to devote all my time to them…

Ho lasciato la Costa Azzurra alle mie spalle e a bordo dell’agile e veloce Bat-Gommone mi sto dirigendo verso la Corsica, la mia destinazione finale è l’isola di Cavallò.

Ho sempre amato il mare, non avrei mai potuto vivere senza una barca. Una barca non troppo grande, da poter accudire da solo, capitano, marinaio, cuoco e… sognatore!

Diversi anni fa mi sono fatto allettare e ho acquistato un posto barca in un piccolo porto che stava nascendo in una delle più belle isole del Mar Mediterraneo, Cavallò. Impossibile descrivere la bellezza di questa isola, il colore dell’acqua cambia con il colore del cielo, 1000 nuance di blue e turchese con una sabbia che cambia ad ogni insenatura dell’isola.

Cavallò sorge tra la Sardegna e la Corsica, esattamente all’inizio del canale che separa le due isole. È risaputo che nel canale regnano venti da forti a fortissimi e quindi è spesso impossibile scorribandare da un’isola all’altra con una barca di piccole dimensioni.

I forti venti, la turbolenza del mare e il continuo movimento delle onde creano questa perfetta levigazione sulle rocce che costeggiano Cavallò facendola apparire irreale, un paesaggio lunare!

L’atmosfera dell’isola è unica, soft e romantica, un piccolo albergo con tutte le camere a bungalow tra scogli e spiaggia è il punto di ritrovo con gli amici. Ogni anno l’appuntamento è per il dieci di Agosto per ammirare le stelle cadenti…

Anche il porto è molto bello ma senza le caratteristiche di un vero porto, è decisamente un ormeggio per un breve periodo. Cavallò è da sempre la mia meta preferita, quest’isola ha visto crescere Daniele e diventare signorina Rachele…

Rachele, Cristiana e relative famiglie sono già a Cavallò ad aspettarmi… non vedo l’ora di trascorrere qualche giorno di tranquillità con i miei nipotini… la parte che più mi piace del mio ruolo di nonno è trasferire a loro tutta l’esperienza della mia vita… tutte le emozioni…

Cristiana mi segue nella mia passione per il mare e quest’anno ha comprato una bella barca a vela con cui scoprire il Mediterraneo…

Cari amici, ora vi devo lasciare, sento già le voci dei miei nipotini che mi reclamano… devo dedicare a loro tutto il mio tempo…

Vi auguro di trascorrere delle serene vacanze in compagnia delle vostre famiglie…
